I ordered steak, and they didn’t ask how I wanted it. It came up medium rare, which is OK, but even so the meat was hard, which was odd. It had lots of sauce, but was hard to chew. My friends had pasta and pizza and it was OK.

Lovely friendly restaurant with well thought-out menu. Food is presented appealingly and staff are attentive. Surrounding area is full of overly touristy places with enormous menus. This restaurant has a much quieter appeal and much more pleasant atmosphere.

Pasta was good. Service was horrible. They forgot 1 of our courses and our waiter disappeared. We asked another waiter for our check. After 20 minutes, we had to ask again and literally had to stand next to a rude blond lady on the phone who ignored us which I’m assuming was the owner. Don’t waste your time. There are way better places to eat in Trastevere.

Disappointed. Friend recommended the place, so we came at 6:30pm when Unilocal says it opens. They actually open at 7pm. We were the only table in the restaurant for the first 50 minutes or so, yet it took FOREVER to get our pasta and ox tail. Our antipasto came out in normal time, but seriously we were just sitting there waiting… waiting. I made eye contact w/the waiters a couple of times, yet they don’t bother coming over to tell us why our food is taking so long when the restaurant is empty. Finally, my pasta came out a bit on the cooked-and-has-been-sitting-there side. His oxtail came out pipping hot and under cooked. The meat and ligaments did not want to come off the bone. That ox tail was not ready to be served. It needed a few more hours to break down. The tomato sauce that the oxtail was served in was awesome, but that meat just wasn’t ready to be served. It’s my guess, but I think that’s why they took so long to get our dishes out. The chef probably knew the ox tail wasn’t ready!

You immediately feel like you’re part of the family here, definatley not a tourist stop, eat here and feel like a Roman. I have eaten here 4 times on 3 different trips. My last trip I extended my layover in Rome just to eat here again. The food tastes like your Italian grandmother would make for dinner when you visited… if you visited your grandmother on a regular basis… and if she was italian. The pasta is fresh. The sauces are bright. Eggplant is perfectly sauteed and has a spongy but firm texture without being oiley or soggy. The house wine is good enough to drink all night, while the mini pizza appetizers are so good you’ll consider eating nothing else all night. The dinng room is a converted living room, only adding to the homely feel. The staff barely speak English, but are more than accomiadating and smile and laugh with you while taking your order, and coming back to check on you constantly. This is not«fine dining», but one of the finest dining experiences you will ever have. Skip lunch, come hungry, try everything, order enough to skip breakfast tomorrow.
