Truly delicious pasta and great service. Went here for lunch and had some of the best pasta we found in Italy. The fig pesto pasta is a must.

Luckily, I got a table without a reservation on a Friday night. But don’t count on being so lucky. This is a very good option for dinner away from touristy locales. I started with braised veal cheeks, which were very tender and flavorful. That was followed by a leg of goose with fennel and olives, which fell easily off the bone and had a wonderfully rich taste. Dessert was a crema cotta flavored with orange and fennel. Recommended.

I wanted to eat here because I saw excellent recommendations on various travel blogs. however, the hours posted on Unilocal are not correct. in fact the hours posted outside of the restaurant are not correct. two days in a row, I came while they are«open» and could not eat. the first time, they were closing for some unknown reason — the waitress outside would not say why as she was bringing in tables. but she said they would be open the next day and pointed to the hours on the wall. so I show up the next day at the appointed time and they were also closed. what a waste of my time! bought meals and drinks on both occasions elsewhere. at least if you waste your time looking for this place, there are plenty of other open places nearby to eat and get drinks for when they are not open.

I was really disappointed in this place given all the good reviews. We came here to get some modern Italian rather than the traditional trattoria food we had been having but the food was just so so and for a higher price and smaller portions than elsewhere. We got the Fat Back over fava bean purée starter which was alright but the purée had anise in it which was too strong and there was a scoop of tahini butter on the plate which didn’t seem to go with the flavors. I got the stew beef while my friend had the boar in chocolate sauce. Both were over cooked and 1 note in terms of sauce/taste. I was also still hungry by the end, and while I realize we had skipped the premi course and just did a anti pasta and segundi, most places have a large enough portion to allow you to skip one without going away hungry and with the prices the way they were it was already too much without throwing in another course that would have probably underwhelmed anyway. In the end I think this place is over hyped and just getting a flood of tourists since it is in the guide book

L’Asino d’Oro is a trendy restaurant. We came here for lunch to taste the one prix fixe menu which comes with water, wine, polenta with tomato sauce, salmon with capers, minestrone soup with lentils, zucchini and other vegetables. The prix fixe menu includes: — Minestrone di zucca e lenticchie — Polenta con arrabbiata di pesce azzurro — Slmone in umido con capperi — Acqua minerale — Calice di Vino The main course was a bit of a surprise. The smell of the salmon was rather pungent and has a strong fishy taste. I am usually pretty tolerant of fish smell but I think most Americans would find the scent too be overly powerful. The fish also has pieces of the what seemed to be the head or bones that needed to be picked out. The polenta with tomato sauce was really tasty. Nevertheless, the meal was great, service was excellent and I would love to return and try more dishes as their menu changes daily.

Fix 3 courses lunch with a glass of red wine and free bottle of water for 13 Euro. Kids can choose non-alcoholic beverage instead. Don’t miss it if you are walking from Termini to Coloseo. I’ll try their dinner menu when I visit Rome again.

Pranzetto good but owner’s attitude could use an adjustment. The rushed service and take it or leave it attitude leave a lot to be desired. There are many great places to eat; perhaps he had an off day… perhaps your money is better spent elsewhere?

Lunch is a fixed menu. Everything was very good with some unusual preparations. Meal comes with wine and water. Great food, service and wine. What more could you want?

Make reservations. We got here exactly at 7:30 when they opened and got the only table that wasn’t reserved for reservations. The food here isn’t typical italian fare. I got the truffled pasta which was so fragrant and unbelievably rich in flavor! My husband got the chocolate boar. Weird at first bite but the blend of meat and chocolate really worked! Not everyone is going to enjoy the dishes here since they use very powerful spices(saffron, truffles, etc) but we really had a great time here. The atmosphere is cozy, dark, and modern and the wine was delicious.

Impressed! I have eaten all around the World but here last week was fantastic food, a little different than the norm with excellent novel flavours. I cannot remember enjoying a meal more. Also great value for money would recommend the place to anyone, best meal of our holiday in Rome.

Went for weekday lunch and got the 12 euro set meal which was a great value. For 12 euros, each person gets: glass of house wine(white or red) bottled water bread rolls soup(today’s special was fennel and fava bean) primi(today was meat ragu in noodle cannoli) secondi(today was pork and mushrooms in tomato sauce) The food was really good. Rich, but good(we were glad the portions were small since the food was pretty rich!) Apparently this place is much more expensive on weekends or for dinner. The interior design is pretty cute and hip. The waiters/waitresses were friendly and attentive. Totally recommend this place for lunch! One hitch– for the lunch special set menu they don’t accept credit cards(but I assume from the sign that they do accept credit for their normal meals).

Incredible! If you visit Rome you MUST eat here. It was the best meal I had in a whole tour of Italy. It has a famous chef without insanely famous prices. LOVED it. I am still drooling thinking about it…

Came here to try the pranzetto. Good deal, 12e for 3 fixed courses with a bottle of water and a generous pour of good wine. Rolls were good unlike the usual tasteless white rolls common in Italy. Tasty creamy chickpea spread. Tasty ‘bread lasagna’ and delicious melt in your mouth squid. Menu changes daily so a definite repeat. Coffee and desert not included in the set. Great service as well!
