A great family owned Italian restaurant enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. Our waiter was very entertaining and the atmosphere is cozy. Everything we had was very good and the buffet(surprising to see) looked pretty good too($ 12).

Wild. Boar. Fettuccini. That’s all you need to know but you can’t go wrong with anything you order. Prosciutto and melon was also especially fresh and on point. Staff were all very friendly and very accommodating even though we didn’t have reservations. However, I highly recommend hat you make reservations in advance. House wines are legit. Will definitely return. Grazie mille!

Best meal I had in Italy hands down. Ordered the penne arrabiata and added a little Alfredo sauce and mushrooms. It wasn’t on the menu but they had no problem making the dish. It was absolutely delicious. Service was good. Make reservations this place gets packed!

The pasta was made very nice and service was good too. Nice athmosphere too. I would recommend to make a reservation before. We didn’t but they found a table for us, but people without a reservation who came after us couldn’t get a table. The only thing disappointed me was that they charged each one of us for 2 € for bread, without asking. Water are also more expansive then other places although the pasta prices are about average.

After a week in Rome this has to be the best food we had. The staff is just amazing and you feel very welcomed. We had the lobster pasta and the beef filet and it’s out of this world. The place is small so try to go early to get places, they don’t have outdoor seating but honestly it’s worth it !

Where do I start? Absolutely amazing food. We have the ravioli, caprese salad, and the house special. The dolce vita dessert to top it off. It was delicious! The service was great. The waiters spoke English and were very funny and nice. They made the meal so enjoyable. I highly recommend this place! If you are American and visiting, just know that, as is typical with European dining, you have to ask for the check and they give you time between courses and to look at the menu. It’s respectful, not fast paced. It’s meant to be enjoyed. If you’re looking for a place where they will make you feel welcomed, you will love the food, and the price is very affordable, this is it! A fabulous experience!

We just got to Rome and we wanted something good. I looked up on Unilocal there were pretty good ratings. My husband and I are so happy right now that we say we’re going back here for every meal! But we don’t want to miss other places! That’s the kind of good it was. I had pasta with mushrooms and he had pasta with clams. The flavor was just perfect. Every bite was hot. The pasta was cooked perfect. The service was the best we’ve had in a while and they even gave my husband a T-shirt because he asked to buy one. The energy was just great and the food will be in my memory forever. Awesome! Maybe we will be back tomorrow.

The service and the place amazing. The food is good. We fell in love with the staff and were well fed. I had spaghetti and clams for a first course then shrimp scampi for my main course. My husband had the steak and the sauce on top was to die for. Lots of famous world wide celebs come to this spot! We loved it. You won’t leave hungry or disappointed.

This was a recommendation from our hotel and we loved it! A small family owned place with a fabulous menu and wonderful staff! We ordered all of the staff recommendations and we’re not disappointed! No wonder they have won many awards for their food! It’s a popular local place and packed with people! It was our favorite in Rome!

Walked in on a thursday with no reservations. Were seated right away. We are little piggies so we shared the cheese with honey(drool :), then i ordered the artichoke pasta as the first course and ossobucco as second course. Hubby ordered fetuccinne alfredo and grilled tuna. Wahhh… so much food! We thought the pasta would be first course size but it was main course sized so we were so dang full after eating it all. Everything was absolutely delicious and the waiter was nice and super friendly :) highly reccomend!

Good value and ok prices, a bit high but quality & freshness is there. We liked their pasta the best especially the ones with Tomatoe. We would come back here. We like Lo Stil Novo a lot better for atmosphere, value, quality and service. It is much cheaper and very high quality :)

We happened upon this place by accident. Someone we met in Venice recommended we go to another restaurant on this street but when we got there we found out we needed reservations. So we made them for the next night and started walking on this street too see if we can find something else. When we got to Le Tavernelle the place was empty but the menu sounded interesting. As we spoke to the server we knew we picked the right place as he instantly started cracking jokes with us and making us feel welcome. I ate the Spaghetti alle vongole veraci. It was a plain and simple sauce but bursting with flavours. I wasn’t expecting to receive so many clams with my meal. I ran out fo clams before I ran out of pasta. By the time we finished our meal the place was packed and there was a lineup out the door. The walls were covered with pictures of I’m guessing famous Italian stars. I wish I found this street earlier in my trip as it was a welcome feeling far away from all the tourist attractions. Locals definitely eat here

This was our favorite restaurants while visiting Rome with the Family. The owner Franco treats you as if you were a guest in his home. One of the reasons we liked it so much was for the great service we received — that got them the 5th star. We also went back a second night. Some of the dishes I recommend: Mussels, Wild Boar Ragu, Steak(they prepare it rare), Spaghetti Carbonara. Both nights Franco brought out complimentary Limoncello and wine after the meal. He even gave T shirts to my kids. Wear a Balatelli jersey and you’ll get some Italian sarcasm(Franco is not an AC Milan fan

For the last restaurant of our European vacation, we wanted our last meal to not only be delicious but memorable. This restaurant exceeded our expectations thanks to Enrico, our server. Not only was he attentive but was also friendly and had a great sense of humor. The dishes, Saltimbocca and the Marrowbone were to die for. They both were full of flavor and was enough to save room for desert. I forget what it was, but it was almost flan like. Thank you Rome, La Tavernelle and Enrico for showing us a good time during our visit!

Got to love a place that loves Fellini. You know you are in good hands. It was Christmas Day eve and we had gone all over Rome looking for a place to eat. Nothing. Everything shut up tight. As we made our way sadly back to where we were staying, we saw a light on in the distance. Could it be, a real spot open? It could. It was. Welcome to La Tavernelle. This is a down-home Italian joint. Mood lit, friendly, lots of tables with people happily eating. On their website, they claim to be the oldest restaurant in Rome. Not sure about that, but they’ve clearly been doing this for a long time. Their menu is classic Italian. I got the ossa buca which was really good, tender, falvourful, delicious. We also tried the La Dolce Vita(a dessert they made up named at the Fellini film), without knowing what it was, because there were signs saying that it had won awards. Turns out it was really delicious flan. Mmm. And speaking of Fellini, the people are obsessed. They have posters, pictures, even a directing chair up on the wall. He loves Rome and they love him, so it all works out in the end. Looking for a classic Italian meal while in Rome. You could do worse.
