First of all if you aren’t driving to this place prepare yourself for a hike. It is far from Tremezzo. Also, dint make the mistake like we did to go for a late dinner. One of the best parts of this place is it’s view. Make sure you see it with some daylight because it was pitch dark by the time we got there. Also, if you are going there for dinner think how you are coming down to Tremmezo again if you are staying along the coast. It was raining when we wanted to leave and we had walked/hiked there so there was only one way to leave. A Taxi. This was ridiculously expensive. We paid 25 euros for a 5 – 10 mins ride. Ridiculous! The restaraunt itself is rustic and the staff is friendly. The food is very yummy. I had the best prosciutto I have ever had and very good bufala mozzarella. One if us at the tomatoe sauce pasta and the other the pork loin stuffed with herbs and cheese. Yuuumy!!! We were really full after our dinner and unfortunately did not go for dessert. The ambience is rustic and they had a fire going in their fireplace. The restaraunt is small and doesn’t sit that many people. We were surprised that even tho there weren’t too many people the service was relatively slow. Lastly, this restaurant is expensive. Portions are small for their price. But it’s a really nice experience.

First let me advise you that if you are using apple or google maps and it says 1 mi to the restaurant. Be forewarned it’s almost all up the side of the mountain. We literally walked up a 3 foot wide stone path. It was super hot and we had no water with us. After almost 45 minutes we barely made it. When we walked in we looked like half past dead. The whole place came to a standstill and the waiter told us the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes. We said just make us anything you want and give us 2 large bottles of cold water. Well they were very gracious after we told them what we went through to get there and they let us order and eat like civilized humans. We went through 3 liter bottles of water in no time. Being rehydrated we settled down and started to enjoy the incredible view. The ice tea was so delicious the local wine super good. Then we ordered the arugula salad the Parma ham dish and a pasta with walnuts fresh tomatoes and mozerrella For desert we had the amazing Parfait Every dish was worth every step up the mountain. Take a car though. And as the other reviewers mention it’s an experience not to miss while in Bellagio. More Unilocalers need to go here and the Florence restaurant(on the water not in the hotel) right in Bellagio are must go to places for serious foodies.

If you can cook, this place will be a disappointment, as it was for us. The food was very average, but the view was fabulous(50% of the $ 200 check for 2 people must have been for the view). The terrace was fully booked with primarily Americans and Germans(no Italians, which might say something). Go to NYC; you’ll get better Italian food(without the view).

4.5 stars Romantic with unparalleled views of Lake Como. The tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had, and the peach bellinis were incredibly fresh. We loved our experience here, though I did find the pasta a tad salty for my taste, which is a trend I’m noticing of Italy in general, and a meal here can get unexpectedly expensive. Still, I would come back just for the view and atmosphere. Service was also very friendly, though it can be very slow if crowded so I suggest arriving on the early side of lunch/dinner.

As the others have said, this is a magical restaurant indeed, worth your time and money. The view is spectacular. It sits high up, overlooking the majestic lake Como. It’s casual but the food is really fantastic. If you can, sit outside, order a nice Amarone, and enjoy the view. We started with their simple salad, which was so fresh and flavorful and then had the Bresaola, and it melted in our mouths. We also had the penne pasta and the trofie, both light and simple but good. The star of the show was the beef thinly sliced and cooked on the grill with cheese inside. So tender! Dessert was a berry tiramisu, I licked the plate!

If you’re visiting Lake Como, this is an experience that should not be missed. Named after the rectanglar sails of the Lake’s fishing boats from a bygone era, Al Veluu would be worth a visit even if there was no panoramic view. The kitchen exhibits that ability peculiar to great Italian cooking of transforming good fresh ingredients in relatively simple recipes into exquisite dishes. We dined there twice recently, a dinner and a lunch. Both were extraordinary experiences. Two risotoo dishes in particular stand out: a porchini risotto and risotto Milanese with its saffon infusion; both were about as good as I have tasted anywhere. Pasta dishes and a preparation of a local lake fish were also perfectly seasoned and tasty. And both of the local wines that was recommended turned out to be delicious and well-matched to our dishes. But what elevates this epicurian experience above and beyond is the restuarant’s location and thus its spendid vistas. Dining on the patio one sits high on a hilltop overlooking the lake, affording the diner with a majestic panorama. The candlelit table, the exquisite food, the wonderful wine and the splendor of Lake Como all around; as a romantic experience, it would be hard to beat. Getting to the restaurant, you should be aware, will generally require a car or a taxi. For our lunch we did walk up the hill. Walking takes around 20 minutes and the walk is up some moderately steep roads that are not pedestrian-friendly, so it would not be adviseable to walk it at night.

This place is just magical. What a view, what a restaurant! There are few places in the world that will bring you back time and again… this is one of them. The Risotto is to die for… the Chateaubriand the best ever… the wine list superb(we were recommended the Casanova de Neri, a wonderful Brunello). Go, drink in the magical experience of this Al Veluu… World class.
