I am a beef lover and have quite a high standard for the quality of beef. I found this place because I saw the reviews were good and since it was my first time in Kobe and having the thought that all beef in Kobe must be good, I’ve decided to go and try not because of the price. When we arrived, there was no queue at all but we were asked to wait for about 10 to 15 minutes despite the fact that there was no one in front of us. When we entered the restaurant, the place was filled with smell and smoke and badly ventilated. We were seated at the far end from the entrance of 1 °F and the first time I saw the chef for my table, I had that feeling that this place is not good at all. The chef was around the age of 23 — 25 and I can see that he’s inexperienced in cooking the beef. The experience is quite interesting watching the chef cooking right in front of you though. But the quality of the beef is nothing to shout about although we have ordered the special Kobe beef which is of a better cut instead of the regular ones. By the way, I ordered twice for the special cut which is the most expensive option in medium well, the first meat was okay, perfect doneness but taste wise it’s bland and tasteless(both meat and vegetables) and the second one had more savory flavorful taste but extremely undercooked(it’s still frozen inside). Like, how’s this even possible?! It was literally my first time being faced in that situation. I did complain but then I have lost my appetite. You don’t need to travel to Kobe just for the beef because you can find better ones in Osaka and still serve authentic Kobe or Matsuzaka Beef. I rather you spend more time at LoFT than queuing up for this lousy place.

Terrible! I totally cannot understand how can ppl recommend this restaurant. Please dont waste any penny here. I ordered kobe Beed steak. It was overcooked to well-done while i choosed medium. The nice beef was totally ruined by the cook. The meal was not clean since the cook was coughing on our meal when he servered. Its Sticky, messy, smoky environment! When I was about leaving, all my stuff were covered by oil on the surface. It doesn’t worth the price at all. You know what is the best. part? My friend ordered rare kobe beefsteak, he got a cold steak!

We came to Kobe for one purpose, to have Kobe beef. I am no expert about Kobe so I cannot proclaim how this place really is. I did eat plenty of steak around the world, including New York, where they love their steakhouse! So, we were here, waiting in a long line for our share of massaged beef in front of my table. We were served by an extremely old looking Japanese teppanyaki chef and that honestly surprised me because no one in the USA that old can still stand or cook! Anyway, our meal comes with a salad, steak, rice and a cup of coffee. The salad was small and nothing special but nice to have to add to the meat-only entrée. The steak was cooked right in front of us to perfection and it was really fun to watch. I really enjoy my steak and their dipping sauce. Is it the best steak as taunted? It probably isn’t but I appreciate the simplicity in the cooking, the seasoning and the freshness. Also, I know they don’t put hormones or other harmful chemicals into these cows make my eating feel safer! Do be prepared your clothes will smell like steak for the rest of the day ;)

You came to Kobe for a singular meal, didn’t you? If so you should skip Steakland. I showed up for lunch, had no wait to be seated, had my order taken immediately and shortly thereafter had a salad that looked and tasted like it was made by public school cafeteria ladies. Some iceberg and a glob of thousand island? OK, I didn’t come here for the salad anyway. Then… Waiting. And more waiting. No joke, the guy next to me who was also dining alone pulled out a book. I pulled out my travel journal and got about 10 pages of hand written notes done. About 50 minutes passed after we’d each ordered. Finally, a chef came to the table and got to work. He asked how I wanted the beef. Rare. He set to work, searing and cutting the meat, then searing each cut edge. I wanted to trust the expert, but… I don’t want a blue steak, but a rare steak should be red in the middle, not a fading pink. The flavor was… Fine. The texture was greatly diminished by being overcooked. Definitely not worth the 6,500 yen or so that the set cost. I’ve cooked better steaks myself. Go find yourself a better place. You traveled a long way, you should drop the extra yen to get a proper meal in a place that treats their customers better and serves better food.

I loved this place. Since I noticed the bf and I were going to travel through Kobe I figured why not try Kobe beef since it cost an arm and a leg in the USA. I came to Unilocal and this place popped up so we went. Even though we went during lunch on a weekday it was packed. When we walked in you had to write your name down on a list and they call your name. Luckily, the bf understands and speaks enough Japanese that he wrote down his Japanese name just in case the person calling out the names had trouble reading and understanding English. After about 30 minutes we were seated at a big table with another party. It was teppanyaki style so they cooked all the food in front of you. He and I ended up getting the Kobe beef lunch special and it was delicious. The lunch special came with rice, miso soup, some pickled vegetable, bean sprouts and of course the Kobe beef. The cook quickly cooked our food and served it to us. I liked the crispy garlic they gave with us. This was my first time trying Kobe beef and it was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. The meal itself was good which would probably explain why it was so crowded on a weekday and I think my bf and I might have been the only foreigners in the restaurant aside from one other family sitting in the back. At the end of our meal they gave us orange juice. This place also accepted my discover card which was great. I remember when I checked my credit card statement when I got back to the states lunch for 2 at this place for a kobe beef lunch special came out to about $ 55 with the current conversion rate. All in all check out this place if you can and hopefully you go with someone who can understand and write Japanese just so you can recognize when they call your name.

Beef was amazing. Service sucks. If you don’t mind bad service in lieu of good food, go for it. If you can get the same beef elsewhere, find it.

My first time to try Kobe beef but I would say it is the best beef I have ever had. We got there at 3pm so we missed the lunch. But it is definitely worth to pay for its Kobe beef set. Will definitely visit Steakland again when I come to Kobe.

This was one of my top destinations shortly after arriving in Japan. I must say I was not disappointed having traveled all this way. This was my first time ever trying kobe beef and it was certainly the right way to do it because when in Kobe Japan one must eat kobe beef. My goal was the food and that was all. I must say after I left I came out a different woman, dare I say I had a religious experience? It was all just so unreal, my taste buds will never be the same again. THEBEEF, is seriously the most perfectly cut of meat I have ever met and it just melts in your mouth. The buttery fattiness of the meat itself is just beyond words and the chefs there certainly know how to cook it right. Just a few slices and seared for a couple of seconds on each side is all it needs. The meat comes with veggies, rice soup and some extras if you choose to have so, I would say these were alright but it’s really not what your there for. You are seated around a grill with the chef in front of you cooking and serving what you ordered, they are serious here, it’s not about fancy hat tricks or onion volcanoes, it’s about the food. The service was also alright but honestly I forgot about the mediocre side dishes and my disappearing waitress after the meat came out. I rate this 5 stars cause of the beef, I highly recommend coming here to have kobe beef if you ever get the chance.

I’m not sure why this place isn’t consistently 5 stars but this meat was/is the best I’ve ever eaten!!! Ignoring the wait, waiter service, chef, size, location, price, Kobe beef at Steakland is 5 stars because it the best thing I’ve ever eaten. The Kobe beef — marbled, seasoned only with salt and pepper, then cooked with only butter — melted in my mouth, was so flavorful, and honestly, changed my life(because it’s the best thing I’ve ever eaten). I got to try the Kobe beef and the special Kobe beef. Kobe beef changed my life, but the special Kobe beef, was incredibly something else. Get it! Worth the extra 円. Feel free to ask for an extra bowl of rice no additional charge. My family of four waited about 2 hours for lunch at the main branch(not the upstairs location) on a Monday during fall season. The place takes credit card! An extra bonus to not credit-card friendly Japan.

Eat Kobe beef in Kobe, Japan? CHECK! That’s not really on my bucket list, but I don’t have a bucket list, and if I had one, this should def be on it! So apparently«kobe beef» outside of Japan is hardly ever reaaaally kobe beef, so even if you think you’ve had some before… «kobe beef sliders»… ya it’s probably not. Sorry to burst your bubble. So I found Steakland Kobe online, since apparently it is pretty popular and it’s not as pricey as some of the other kobe beef restaurants. I forgot which one I ordered, but it had the word«special» and«set» and I think A5. K maybe I do remember lol. It was about 5000Y maybe? More or less. It’s a teppanyaki style dinner, like where the chef cooks the food in front of you on a large ass flat top grill. It comes with a soup, sashimi starter, salad, seafood course, kobe beef course, veggie/sides, and dessert, as well as a very random choice of coffee or orange juice. There’s not actually THAT much kobe beef served per person, but with everything else combined, it was a lot of food. Plus too much kobe beef might just make you yack cos it’s so damn rich. Everything else was filler-ish, but the seafood course was yummy. We watched as he cooked it in butter… oh yes. Butta. It was used to cook everything, pretty much, including the kobe beef. When we got to the steak, I took as many pics as I could, TRUST. And it smelled soooo good. And if you watch him cook it(which you should cos he’s like right there), make sure to watch when the chef cuts up the beef. It seriously looks so effortless. Like CUTTINGTHROUGHBUTTER. Kobe beef does that phrase justice. The chef also cooked up some garlic chips(in butter of course) til they’re hot and crisp, and you’re supposed to eat it together with the steak(which is nicely portioned out for you). The beef is really rich, and that fine ass marbling really comes through cos it just melts in your mouth. I thought the garlic chips were essential cos it provides a contrast to texture. Melty and crispy. Plus it’s garlic! Garlic’s da bomb. The chef also cut up some tiny fattier pieces of kobe beef and cooked some bean sprouts with it. I don’t usually like bean sprouts but dayum this was tasty. Speckled with kobe beef saltiness in every crunchy bite. I couldn’t finish it though, was way too full. So overall, was a very very satisfying meal… maybe a little more than satisfying. But it was bomb I tell ya.

It’s a Benihana without the chef doing a show. One of the larger steak houses in Kobe. Cozy atmosphere in front of a teppan grill. Good place with more reasonable prices.

For the value this place is hard to beat. I have been for lunch and dinner and it did not disappoint. I would say it’s average quality steak for Japan which is very good and tender compared to US steak. It is your typical Teppanyaki«family style» dinner. I didn’t opt for the kobe beef because i have it so often, but the tender steak still hits the spot. The only disapointment is that there is no option for fried or garlic rice. It’s nice that there are three Steakland restaurants within a block so there is probably rarely a wait.

Please don’t come to Kobe and miss this place. Even if you have to wait and come back or had another meal… Do try this one. It will beat what you just had. Amazing taste and the meat is nice and melt in your mouth. Having the chef cook in front of you is a treat too. You can sometimes ask for more stuff.. Like more of that good fried garlic chips

This was the 4th city we visited in one day, but of course, you can’t leave Japan without eating Kobe beef in Kobe! According to what we’ve learned throughout our trip, Kobe beef is only Kobe if it is slaughtered in Kobe, Japan. Therefore, we ended up here for the night! Since Steakland seemed to be of the more popular and cheaper of the Kobe restaurants, we opted for this choice as it was also giant and spacious! There’s a location on the first floor and another on the 6th floor of a different building. It seems that a lot of the restaurants here do teppanyaki with their Kobe, and it’s on another level here in terms of quality. I ordered the A5 Kobe special while my friends ordered the A4. We started out with a simple vegetable soup, smoked salmon with capers and lemon, and a salad followed by a seafood platter presented by the chef. Mine came with octopus, shrimp, scallop, mushroom, and other veggies! The octopus was seared so the inside was still a little raw. It was chewy but yummy! The seafood was all delicious, but my favorite was the mushrooms. After the appetizer, the chef grilled our Kobe beef. He first showed us our cuts, and the marbling was superior. It’s nice how they pay attention to little details of the food and the presentation! After receiving my Kobe beef with garlic chips, I was very impressed. The beef literally melted in my mouth! It was amazing… The A4 was not as fatty but it was still delicious. You can definitely tell the difference though! We also received a side of bean sprouts and veggies to go with our beef. After we finished, we received orange juice and sorbet as part of the combination. My meal was around $ 45-$ 50 total, and it was definitely a steal for what you get and the quality of the meat. You’re paying that much for the best of the best quality meat, which is so much cheaper than America as they have import taxes and whatnot. Although teppanyaki isn’t really my favorite type of food, the quality of the Kobe beef was amazing, as well as the rest of the food!

When you’re in Kobe, you must try their Kobe Beef! We came here for dinner and it reminds me of an «American-style Benihana» where you are served by a teppanyaki chef. Your party sits around a teppanyaki grill, and the chef grills /cooks up veggies, mushroom, and a huge slab of kobe beef right in front of you. Kinda wish my portion size was larger in terms of kobe beef, but nevertheless — the meal was good in its own right because I got to try true kobe beef, straight from the Kobe region of Japan! This place is pretty packed on the evening we went, it’s upstairs and you have to take the elevators.

Steakland lived up to my expectations in terms of its value and flavor of their kobe beef. Here are my tips: — DON’T go to the main branch during rush hour. There’s another branch near the main one in an alley on the 6th floor that usually has less people waiting and the line moves much faster – just look for signs. The address is: 神戸市中央区北長狭通1丁目9番17号 三宮興業ビル6階 — DO put your name on the waiting list(was here during the dinner rush) — DON’T try to guess what’s on their Japanese menu; ask for their English menu — DO order their special selection Kobe beef(特選神戸牛ステーキセット), the marbling and flavor is exceptional and worth the extra ¥ — DON’T expect your drink to magically appear. Kindly let the waiter/waitress know that you want your drink, otherwise they will provide it at the end of the meal As another reviewer has mentioned, their service is probably the only thing that needs improvement here. The waitress brought over our side dishes but completely forgot about the ones for the couple sitting next to us… whoops! Lastly, after we cleaned our plates and had our table cleared, we waited 10 minutes for our drinks(OJ) to finally appear. Those are my only complaints.

Pointless to write your name on the wait list. I understand people with reservations getting their seats but when other guests that obviously don’t get seated ahead of you and you have been waiting since before the restaurant opened, kind of disappointing. Hostess has only walked out to check the length of the guest list once in the past 90 minutes. Also one person having his own personal chef with open seats all around… At least hide this patron in the back if he or she is important. Don’t seat them right in the front. It’s a slap in the face. Many potential patrons have left but I doubt they care. Don’t come here unless you can sweet talk to get a seat in Japanese to a manager or if you already have a large reservation with a tour group. If I ever get seated this century, I’ll revise the review. If food and chef are amazing, best they can get is a 2. 0 of 5 if I could after 100 minutes of sitting at the top of the useless list.

We wanted to try Kobe beef in Kobe while on vacation and we were not disappointed ATALL. The food was delicious and was a great way to end our trip in Japan. We knew Kobe beef was special but we never knew how special it was. We got to the restaurant(on the 6th floor) and put our names on the list. The whole waiting area was full so we thought it would take hours to get in, but I guess we timed it right because 8-minutes later we were seated. This restaurant has English menus(just ask) and has set meals depending on what you like and how hungry you are. My whole group got the Special Kobe Beef dinner which came with fried seafood(shrimp, scallop, octopus), vegetables, rice, mushrooms, beef soup, orange juice or coffee, sorbet, and of course 200g of Kobe beef for ¥6,480. Have a meal here and it will change your life(or at least set a new bar for your taste for beef in the future).

The Kobe beef was really tasty and the cook who came to our table was nice and friendly! Unfortunately the waitress was terrific and we had to wait for 15 minutes before she took our order — she also forgot to bring our rice and side dishes. So apart the waitress everything was great!

Kobe beef *_* I came here for dinner to get teppanyaki and we got the set menu with veggies, two types of beef(one is leaner than the other. or you could say one is fatter than the other lol) and it was so good. Obviously I was already expecting a lot because it’s kobe… in Japan… but this seriously exceeded my expectations. The chef for us was this really nice dude who hummed as he cooked and was just really happy in general, which made us happy in turn hahaha :) He gave my sister and I extra beef because he overheard my mom joking, «he should give the kids the meat because I’m too full» even though she was speaking in english! All in all, the service was really awesome and the food was so good. yumz kobe beef in Kobe :’)
