Cake and coffee specialist Swich café has a lot to offer and it’s a good thing they are now located in Damansara Uptown too so PJ folks can enjoy a cuppa anytime! The décor at this place is cute and handmade with paper butterflies on the walls and lovebird figurines on every table. When you do visit, you must try their signature chempedak cake. Swich has a way of fusing local flavors into their desserts with offerings of durian cheesecake, mangosteen cake, Gula Melaka and so on. Pretty interesting flavors though we couldn’t quit detect the mangosteen in the mangosteen cake, perhaps more bits of the fruit might help. Chocoholics can rejoice with the Valrhona Chocolate cake or the Durian Mud Pie. If you are squirming at the latter, don’t worry, the chocolate is more intense than the durian but having the fruit blended into the pie makes for a very surprising flavor profile I can’t quite put a hand on. Their cakes selection varies by availability but rest assured that you will always be satisfied with any cake on any given day as it is that good! And their coffee? It’s of Brazilian roots and they use gula melaka to sweeten their coffees. I tried their Matcha Latte for RM10 and it was rich with matcha taste and comes with a pretty latte art on top.

Meh. What a meh place for Uptown. Look, if you are going to serve coffee, or anything remotely looking like coffee, I suggest you go somewhere else, because everything that you can drink here tastes pretty disgusting. The only saving grace they have are their signature cakes, where you can famously mix and match, which is basically another ploy to fulfill our needs for being in control of what we consume and stuff. Cake’s good, coffee’s pretty darn terrible. If you are a huge fan of cakes, then yeah, do come here for your daily intake to impending diabetes. Or else, skip this place, because there are plenty of cafes in Uptown that serves good coffee, and this is not one of them.

I love desserts. If having a sweet tooth won’t cost you calories or having the risk of having cavities i’d probably live on desserts. LOL! Have you ever been in a situation where you were indulging in a cake and thought to yourself«hmm a drizzle of caramel sauce would make this perfect!», well wonder no more for it is now possible to do so at Swich Café. Swich Café offers a variety of cakes and desserts in the popular familiar flavours, as well as confectionaries with a twist which incorporates local fruits and flavours. Okay so this is what you do; Order a slice of cake. say a Matcha Cheesecake, then you pick a topping or a drizzle… hmm now what would go with a Matcha Cheesecake… a nutella ganache, perhaps?! And then a spoonful of garnish. i’d go with cacao nibs. Oh doesn’t that sound like heaven?! DROOOLLSS! Mix & Match cakes are only priced at RM12(cake+frosting/drizzle garnish) and only RM1 for extras of each. Now thats what i call a yummylicious deal! If you are feeling like having some hot food, you may do so too here at Swich and their choices of that are unique and divine too. You may find stuff like Sticky Cempadak Chicken with Rice, Pumpkin Curry Chicken with noodle or rice, BBQ Chicken Fried Rice and a few others too. Prices for hot meals are from RM8.90 –Rm 11.90. I like this place very much. It is very innovative and different from others. My bucket list consist of trying all of the cakes with all of its drizzles and garnishes.(I’m willing to do a hundred burpees after each time) Hehe. Swich’s creations such as their Cempedak Tutti Frutti Cake has been noticed and awarded by TimeOutKL as the Best Thing We’ve Eaten in 2012 and The Top 10 Food and Desserts in KL. I would definitely recommend this place to all my fellow sweet tooths! You are also able to find Swich Café at Publika(Level G3, Publika Shopping Gallery, Solaris Dutamas No. 1, Jalan Dutamas Kuala Lumpur)

I always love staying at café that has simple design, less crowded and easy to find. Well, Swich at Uptown suits all! Located at Damansara Uptown, which is same row with Chatime, Swich Café is just next to Mail Boxes Etc. I know that they have an outlet at Publika(only realized when I want to write it in Unilocal.), but Damansara Uptown one is the outlet I have been going to. They serve cakes and coffee, and also other drinks. I went to Swich Café because of the«Mix & Match». Mix & Match allows patrons to customize their own cake — 1 cake flavor with 2 toppings. They have various toppings to be chosen. So, you definitely can find 2. If you think 2 toppings are too little, you can have additional one, each extra will need to add RM1. I got mine — Chocolate cake, topping with French vanilla cream and hazelnut. The cake was palatable. The toppings are the element that makes the cake more flavorful. Swich Café also serves different flavor of cheesecake and fruit cakes. Told by the crew, their fruit cakes were made by fresh fruits, not the artificial ingredients. Overall, Swich Café is a café that you can spend at. Remember to try their Mix & Match when dropping by Swich Café.
