Great Seafood Place. The beans with chipotle for starters are very good. Fresh fish served in different ways. Cocktails affordable !

Best seafood I had in Mexico. Prices were very reasonable, I actually thought the portions would be smaller when looking at the prices, so I ordered too much and got to try most of the menu. The ceviche was fantastic, probably the star of the menu but I didnt have anything bad while there.

Killer food. Ceviche was bomb! Awesome drinks, great price. We went during the off season so there was no wait but server said lines get long during season. Going back here when I visit next.

Really disappointed from this place. With all the great review regarding this place we decided to try. Service was very slow(and they had only few customers eating). Location is not the best you can find in Tulum. Food was disappointing. The fish soup was tasteless(see picture). Ceviche was ok. Camarones were cold. Not a nice experience at all!

Ceviche!!! Very good and very affordable. Ordered the medium Mixto Ceviche and was amazed and what came out. Such a large portion of delicious seafood. If I recall it was only about 130 – 150 pesos or so. Never would you get this for 7 – 8 dollars back in the USA. Definitely recommend this place if you are in Tulum and are looking for something fresh and delicious.

Ahhhh– this place was recommended by a local but I wish I hadn’t believed him. I ordered the ceviche and my poor boyfriend– who was already stomach sick– had to order a terrible made burger, which perhaps made him more unwell. This is an authentic seafood joint– so if you don’t like seafood, don’t step foot inside. It was inexpensive but highly unsanitary. I felt uncomfortable simply sitting inside. The food was pretty bland– there are better local spots to try in Tulum, for sure.

Great experience Had the whole fried fish. Fresh — just caught. The totopes(corn chips) and fresh pico de gallo are perfect. Great staff, family crowd. Good for big groups. We went with our infant. Hard to find decent Mexican food in Miami so this was a treat! Enjoyed everything with a cold beer. Don’t miss out! Clean, delicious, and very affordable

Going to El Camello on a Sunday night was the perfect time to get a taste of this locals’ hole in the wall with great seafood. Yes, the ceviche was impressive and fresh, but my favorite was the camarones al coco(coconut shrimp). These MASSIVE jumbo shrimp had the best coconut breading and were served with black beans, rice and broccoli.

Don’t miss this! This place has great seafood at amazing prices. The ceviche here is piled high and cheap. Great quality fish. I had whole fried fish which was so delicious i still think of it at dinnertime. The interior is a bit stark and illuminated with fluorescent bulbs but it is an authentic locals resto. Better than the Rodeo drive wannabes along the beach road which are packed with your neighbors from back home.

**CEVICHEPARADISE** ABOUT ======= Super popular with locals, this casual eatery guarantees fresh fish and seafood. You don’t even need to look at the menu — it’s all about the ceviches. LOCATION ========= At the end of town on the left-hand side of Tulum Avenue it is easy to locate, just look for a place full of cars and people eating outside. AMBIANCE ========= Sat outside in the cool breeze. A lot of locals, sprinkle of young tourists. FOOD ===== SHRIMPCEVICHE(SMALL order) OMG, their portions are HUGE and we ordered a small. Delicious and flavorful. Squeeze some lime, boom. RATING: 5⁄5 GRILLEDGARLICPRAWNS Good, but not the best I’ve had. Beans, rice, and vegetables were OK. RATING: 3.75÷5 FLAN Authentic and wonderful. Not overly sweet and just right. RATING: 4⁄5 BEVERAGE ========= MARGARITA Tasty and refreshing. For $ 3USD, not bad. RATING: 4⁄5 PROTIPS ======== Order a Michelada or a cocktail while waiting. OVERALL ======== Good and affordable, not going to complain. They have music on some nights, too. Will return when in Tulum. RECOMMEND for a solid fresh and affordable seafood dinner.

This place was a very nice surprise! Easy to find with street parking, open to the street, mariachi playing outside, and a great full house mix of locals and tourists. But cash only. The ceviche con pescado y camarones was excellent! The medium plate was too much for three of us as an appetizer. My main dish of pulpo a la mexicana was maybe the best octopus dish I’ve had with well prepared diced octopus and a perfect lightly handled sauce. Be careful of the lime and pepper sauce casually tossed on the table with the excellent salsa fresco and homemade tortilla chips, it’s habanero! Service was excellent. El baño para hombres was modestly clean. A definite recommend for local seafood and a feeling of being at the right place at the right time.

We ate at El Camello Jr 3 times in 10 days(and it would have been 4, had the Easter Sunday crowd not been so large!). Needless to say, it’s worth coming here, and then coming back again to try something new. Our favorite was the ceviche mixto and the camarones al guajillo(shrimps with chiles), which was extremely flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. El Camello is a nice mix of tourists and locals, the wait staff are friendly and hard-working, and the setting is nice — down at the end of Tulum, where you can sort of forget you’re in a super touristy part of the town. The only thing we were not super excited about was the breaded fish taco dish. Pico de gallo and habanero salsa spiced it up a bit, but otherwise it lacked some of the special flavors of the other things we tried.

Authentic hole-in-the-wall restaurant serving fresh & delicious seafood El Camello Jr. is a small but popular authentic restaurant in the town of Tulum, serving fresh and delicious seafood. It is a bit of a walk from downtown Tulum(towards the outskirts of town), but the food is well worth it! I visited El Camello for dinner on the evening of November 13th with friends that I had met at my hostel in Tulum. The restaurant looked unassuming from the outside, but once I stepped inside, I saw how bustling this place was and it was packed with guests — both tourists and local families alike. The restaurant was and had a casual atmosphere. It was an open-air eatery with plastic chairs and the front of the building open to the sidewalk and main highway through Tulum. It was great to feel the cool breeze in the evening and smell the rain during the downpour when I visited. I ordered the grilled fish fillete which was accompanied with rice, cooked vegetables, and black bean purée. Everything tasted flavourful, fresh and delicious. El Camello is also well known for their ceviche, although I didn’t have the chance to try it(next time!). I also really enjoyed the complimentary tortilla chips with fresh pico de gallo salsa and a few other sauces that were served before our meal. The portions were large and generous and the menu offered a good variety and selection of traditional Mexican and seafood dishes, with everything being reasonably priced. The service was excellent — friendly, attentive, prompt and professional — which was impressive considering how crowded the restaurant was. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant when visiting Tulum!

Excellent and well worth the 120 km drive from our hotel in Cancun. We followed Anthony Bordeaux to this place. Upon arriving, they serve warm tortilla chips, Refried black beans & Pico. Their guacamole was the best I’ve ever had and their Ceviche was to die for! We ordered this red snapper and ate it All(except the eyeball). There were 4 of us and we each ordered a couple things. We had to pull another table over to house all our food. We tried it all. We had several Sol beers and a coke and our bill was under $ 70 w tip. Down side: Some beggars come to your table(a deaf lady, a bongo and guitar player& a guy selling hammocks). No AC, we were roasting. Parkings a challenge.

I had a lot of delicious food in Tulum, but I think El Camello goes down as the best meal of the whole trip. There’s a reason why this place is packed every night with locals and visitors alike. Seriously, I was there at a quiet time of year where most restaurants were pretty empty, but this one was bustling at all times! Go for seafood. If the lobster is available, GETIT. It’s crazy what a good value it is — two huge tails for about $ 20USD if I remember correctly. There are several different prep options, but I highly recommend the chile sauce — it’s super flavorful and not too spicy. The dish comes with rice, beans, and steamed veggies as well, and it’s an incredible deal! I also had the shrimp in butter and it was also mighty tasty, but honestly the lobster overshadowed it all. A close contender was the fresh ceviche, which came out on a huge plate even though we ordered the smaller size. So much fresh fish, perfect veggies, and wonderful on the huge pile of chips they give you. You will not regret paying this place a visit. Just follow the crowds!

This place is so delicious. If you are in town I recommend trying this place. First they start you with a bowl of chips — pico de gallo — habanero salsa– and delicious beans. We ordered the shrimp ceviche and octopus ceviche the small is enough for two people to split. Octopus was my favorite so tender and full of flavor. We also got the steak nachos– so good. Portions are huge so I recommend splitting everything. Definitely a great spot and always busy!

Found El Camello Jr. on Unilocal while searching for places to eat in the area. This restaurant is located at the very end of the small town of Tulum. My husband went to town ordering beers, a large plate of Mixed Seafood Ceviche, Baja Style Tacos, Shrimp Tacos, Octopus Tacos & Grilled Fish Tacos. Too much food! The best dishes were the mouth watering Mixed Seafood Ceviche & the Octopus Tacos. We rolled our fat bellies out of there but on the way out we spotted a deep fried whole fish that looked amazing. Maybe next time… maybe next time…

Definitely recommend this restaurant when visiting Tulum and would hands down return. Best meal I’ve had yet: authentic, full of flavor and incredibly fresh. I knew I wanted to check out El Camello after seeing them unloading crates of fresh fish early one morning. We returned for dinner about 5pm during the workweek and were seated immediately(party of five) right in front of the fish prepping room. Whether you’re in the mood for ceviche, grilled seafood or another protein, they have a diverse menu and wide selection of drinks. You won’t find the same quality of tequila i. The margaritas here that you find on the beach, but if you’re not looking for quality the price is definitely cheaper. Complementary chips, salsa and bean dip are provided while you wait to order/for entrees. We ordered fish ceviche, grilled fish in garlic and grilled lobster with garlic. The ceviche would have fed 2 – 3 people easily while the others are nice portions with you’re very hungry but would be perfect for sharing. Out of the three, my favorite was definitely the grilled fish with garlic, it was full of flavor and oh so fresh. This place gets crowded and it’s an open restaurant right on the highway. Service might lag but if you’re got the patience it’s well worth he wait. I did see some families joining other tables, so I assume«family style» tables is acceptable here.

Holy crap. I wanted to eat everything off of everyone’s plates and the menu and the ones that were left on the table after everyone left. Everything here is fresh and it’s very popular from locals to tourists. Expect a line but the wait is worth it! We got a mango margarita and it was delicious. As much as we wanted to order a ceviche we didn’t as we already had one at Pik Nik in Cancun though I think we missed out. The small ceviche could feed 2 – 4 people. The chips are also so crispy. The salsas were great too. Thing is they serve a fish salsa which is so unexpected. Our dish was a garlic fish and wow. Probably one of the best dishes we had in our trip. It was so juicy, moist and flaky and had a bite to it. There are definitely a lot of places up and down the main street in Tulum. I don’t think you can go wrong here. Just be hungry so that you can partake in various dishes.
