Stopped by for lunch with my Dutch pals on our way to the cinema. I was extremely pleased. I speak almost zero Dutch, and our wait person figured out a good lunch to suite my vegetarian lifestyle. Hope to go back. People watching is top-​notch. Took it down to 4 stars because a trumpet-​playing busker was allowed to annoy patrons.

Okay, I need to confess one thing before you read the review below:
I actually only come here with a BIG hangover. And I will explain Why :)
L’opera is a decent looking restaurant with a big terrace where you can really have a good seat when it’s a sunny day in Amsterdam! In the back they have these lovely couches where you can just sit down and relax. Those couches are definitely the once I recommend if you want to relax and have a good chat.
But all nice about the couches and stuff but that’s not really the reason why I come here.

They serve cheese croquettes on very nice land bread. Hahahahaha
Maybe somewhere else in Amsterdam they serve them as well, but this place is my get away. Besides that as a vegetarian, I sometimes desperately need a croquette and the cheese ones are delicious.
Of course they have a lot of other different and good options. Like the bread with old cheese and fig chutney! The proportions are good, sometimes even to much for little me!
The reason why I didn’t gave start is because of the waiters. It’s not that good of a service here, it’s just ok.

Good looking restaurant. But the food didn’t taste anything. Had two different dishes, but none of them tasted as it should have. Not recommended at all…
Service was a bit slow too.

Un restaurant/​bar dans le style Parisien d’antan.
La décoration est très jolie avec une salle principale, un étage et une terrace abritée.
Le menu n’est pas exceptionnel et après avoir gouter deux plats, ce n’est pas vraiment de la grande gastronomie.
Il s’agit plutôt d’un endroit tranquille pour boire un verre après une bonne marche dans les rues d’Amsterdam.
En photo un plat typique dont je n’ai pas retenu le nom, pas très sophistiqué mais pas mauvais non plus.

Don’t like the food… don’t go… there are many place in Amsterdam better than this…

Oozing with 1920’s Parisienne character and mood. Velvet and wood canopies, big windows, a spiraling wooden staircase like the one the Titanic. Waitress out of a Manet painting. Coffee is ok. Food is normal. Service is decent. Prices are reasonable. Cappucino was just over 2 euros.

Gute Lage mitten im Zentrum. Gute Auswahl auf der Karte. Zu empfehlen: Salat mit Ziegenkäse!

Wunderbares Café in der Innenstadt von Amsterdam. Innen herrscht eine gemütliche Jugendstil-​Atmosphäre im Stil eines Kaffeehauses, aber auch auf der Terrasse vor dem Café kann man sitzen und die Umgebung geniessen.
Jedesmal wenn der Fozzy in Amsterdam ist, lässt er es sich nicht nehmen, hier einzukehren. Der Kaffee ist hervorragend, ebenso der Kuchen, abends kann man auch sehr gut essen. Natürlich ist es nicht ganz billig, aber an einem der schönsten Plätze der Grachtenstadt sei dies gestattet.
Der Fozzy vergibt volle fünf Punkte für diese Lokalität.
Übrigens, um die Ecke befindet sich das Büro, wo es die Schlüssel für die berühmten Parkkrallen gibt

This place was convenient and ok. The service was slow and spotty-​had to catch a waiter or waitress to get service or request something-​no-​one checked back with me. There is an outside area, covered outside area and inside seating. I had lunch there and had cheese croquettes. They had an interesting taste and I enjoyed them. The place was more crowded than many in the area so perhaps has a good reputation or return customers.
