Great little spot, I ordered the fired potatoes served with poached eggs and a tomatoes based sauce choosing to obmit the capers that is normal served with the dish, but to be honest a bit bland without them :( Coffee was excellent as was the service. Great café and beach if you just can’t face the hussle and bussle of mission bay.

Passed a few times never had food there until recently moved here walking distance. Great view, but the food is disappointing, I ordered market fish for lunch come with cauliflower, with the so so fish vegi is cold and dry looks like been done a few days ago. Quickly finished cold dish never come back again. People may just attract by the view, but that’s it.

Can’t believe I have not been here in all these years! Great food and drinks with amazing scenery! Must try on a cold day: house made salted caramel hot chocolate They have variety of cabinet cake and slices which looks awesome too. Can’t wait to go back on a warmer day to try their smoothies =)

The last time I frequented Café on Kohi was when I lived in the area 6 years ago. This café by the pedestrian crossing on the Kohimarama beachfront has always been quite popular. Water glasses landed on the table about the same moment as we sat down but I have to say that they should ask what you prefer — carbonated or tap. I hate fizzy water and that’s what we got. I like the extra touch like offering straw hats for the sun given there is no shade there in the Summer time. Café on Kohi is part of the same group as Takapuna Beach Café and Rosie in Parnell to name a few of the Hip Groups establishments(and all my fav). They all have a similar feel with great food and great service. The place was packed but the food came quickly, the Matre-D was great value and reminded me that I could take a doggie bag home when I found the dish I chose was bigger than my appetite. My platter was made up of Pancetta, Toulouse sausage, smoked Trevally, paper thin pickles in mustard, olives and toasted sour dough. It was great and I did take some home but if there was cheese it would have been perfect. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with couscous and yoghurt and said that was good. The wait for a table is only a short wait so if you haven’t been get yourself along there.

I always have a good brunch here. It’s menu, design, service and food is very similar to Takapuna Beach Café, The Store in Britomart etc. Not sure if they are owned by the same person but it gives you an idea of the type of food served. Service is excellent and of course the standard drink is complimentary sparkling water which is always a winner for me. Coffee is always good. The food is changed regularly and it’s always fresh and well portioned. The eggs benedict, big breakfast and omelette are all excellent. The only negative is that is a lot more expensive than your usual café, although the service, location and food quality more than make up for it.

There is always a queue for breakfast, it’s normally so good it’s worth the wait, but… My reason for coming here«The Grill» with its sausage, bacon, hash cake, black pudding, tomatoes all using amazing good quality ingredients has changed. The black pudding gone! My reason for coming here gone! It may just be black pudding you say but they replaced it with lambs liver! I know black pudding is not always to everyone’s taste but lambs liver for breakfast! The food’s still good, the service still excellent, but a little of me died inside when they took away my black pudding. I hope someone’s reading this and decides to bring it back.

if you love the sun and good food, make your way to café on kohi. i would recommend the patatas bravas with haloumi, capers and poached eggs. it was a tasty alternative to eggs on toast. the bacon eggs bennie is recommended too. however you are paying for the view too so the prices reflect this. their home made hot or cold teas are amazing and totally worth it. i recommend the passionfruit lime fusion. also try to get a table outside. the view across tamaki dr is pretty plus the café provide straw hats for those conscious of the rays.

This place is ALWAYS busy. i came here on monday for lunch and the café was still full but thankfully we didn’t have to wait long. Two friends ordered two bacon eggs benedicts, bf ordered chicken schnitzel, and i regretfully ordered fish of the day. bf thought his long black was lacking in flavour, my tangelo and lemon soda tasted like just juice bubbles which i don’t mind because i could swim in that stuff but just saying… i could go buy a bottle for the price of the cup i got. The two friends said their eggs benedict didn’t taste as good as it used to when they came 3 years ago but then again 3 years is a long time to remember that haha. Bf’s chicken was really nice as was the sauce that came with it. Unfortunately it was my dish that was really bad. It was a fish that wasn’t common in cafes so im not sure about it’s usual taste and texture but it didn’t seem fresh, texture was rubbery and dried out, flavour was not anything great and the barley beetroot salad it sat on was hard and too sour. I didn’t finish my meal and it wasn’t very enjoyable. A bit of a disappointment as i always drive past here wanting to try their stuff seeing as they are ALWAYS busy so they must be doing something right… maybe its just the location is right… Wont be returning here anytime soon…

I finally had the chance to try Café on Kohi. We were staying near the area and thought we would come for breakfast. With the beautiful morning sun to look at, its def a café visiting for its view. Its less then often I go out for breakfast, as I’m too lazy to get out of bed and secondly I don’t eat eggs. I find it difficult for choice when all you get are like 5 breakfast options all including eggs and then the boring choices of either pancakes or corn fritters. However most places are pretty lenient with changing up menu items, which for some reason people don’t realise its a simple enough request. So I ordered the Potato and Haloumi dish topped with poached eggs. But in this case I have swapped the eggs for mushrooms. You should just order what you crave to fully satisfy yourself. All in all, my meal was really yummy. I also ordered a banana smoothie. again was $ 8…The smoothie was made well and tasty but not sure if it was worth $ 8 when you know all it is banana, milk and honey. My dining partner had the eggs bene with bacon. Eggs were cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and efficient. My recent visit there demonstrated why Kohi Café is such a favourite. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon and I took the canine girls, Roxy and Lulu along to meet up with a friend for coffee. The café was heaving but we were luckily able to grab some chairs and along with a small side table outside. We were enjoying out fantastic(as per usual) coffee when disaster struck. Lulu took exception to a passing Jack Russell and lunged sending the table, the glasses and cups flying, amid yapping dogs and human squeals. No problem for the Kohi team, who were straight out with brooms to sweep up the debris. Glass was everywhere. Then without a blink, fresh water and new coffees were delivered to calm the humans’ nerves. Great to see such fantastic service! I would highly recommend the Kohi Café. It’s a great place to hang out for coffee, especially on a sunny afternoon when you can sit right on the footpath — just watch out for passing Jack Russells. P. S. Try the attached Store for some award-winning ice cream!

Café on Kohi is the best café on Tamaki drive. Great service and attitude, sensational location and views. And some really nice touches. This morning there was a wait for a table(and they have a great system so you can go to the beach and wait) Even better we went to the beach and the came over with our coffees. The foods always been fresh and delicious and they’ve accommodated me getting things done that arent on the menu. Worth the xtra few minutes past mission bay to get a much better café experience Enjoy Ben

Easily one of my most favourite cafes in Auckland. Their food is just incredible, everything tastes so fresh and the flavours are all distinguishable rather than all being mushed into one taste. Their cabinet food is to die for and so nice to grab and take to the beach. Their coffee is perfect and even if you are ordering a take-away they will bring you a glass of water while you wait. Now while those things are all good things to mention, I want to dedicated this review to the manageress who I have had the pleasure of being served by almost every time I have been in here. Regrettably I don’t know her name but she is quite young with blonde hair and she seriously knows what she is doing. She is extremely attentive, I came here once with my elderly Grandma, and before we had even stepped into the café she had come out and took my Grandma by the arm and showed her to the table which was one right by the front door, perfect! I love love love this café and I will always come here when I am wanting good food and great service to match.

Café On Kohi is never a cheap visit, but is usually a great experience. Situated on the waterfront, the café has a monopoly on Kohimarama Beach, a priceless position on the waterfront. Regularly packed, particularly on the weekends, the café prides itself on its attentive service, and attentive it is. I regularly get the big breakfast, which ends up being particularly pricey after ordering my vital side of black pudding. Some may justify the price, as I do, with the great location and prompt service — but if either were slightly lacking I would probably be disappointed as the food is not the best I have had, but is still right up there. Ensure you visit on a relatively calm day as sitting outside can be quite windy, particularly with those sea breezes on the waterfront, and then sitting inside can be a rather squishy affair, as patrons attempt to pack in to the smallish(and reasonably loud) inside area.

Came here for brunch today in the rain. Normally this is a perfect place to come on a sunny day because the beach is right across the road and you can enjoy sitting in the sun and watching the day go by.(they even have a stack of sun hats you can borrow). Today we were inside and it was packed! We were in a queue for a table, and it wasn’t actually too long before we got one. The menu is very similar to Takapuna Beach Café’s menu, in content and price. The staff were all super friendly and more than happy to cater to our children’s needs and even served them half an iced chocolate and half a raspberry donut each in separate cups and plates — they thought they were super special when it came out like that! Plus as an added novelty of extreme proportions — the marshmallows on the side of the drinks are square! The food is really good, and they make their own delicious bread.

The first time I ever took the liberty of visiting Café on Kohi I sat outside and had an orange and lemon juice and these truffle scrambled eggs. They were delicious. So delicious in fact, that I drove back the next weekend to have them again, only to be thwarted by their regularly changing menu. Café on Kohi is owned by the same people who own Takapuna Beach Café and Richmond Road Café so if you’ve dined at either, you know what you’re getting. It’s not cheap — expect to part with around $ 20 for eggs benedict, for instance. That being said, if you’re happy to spend the money, the food is good and there’s a view. If you’ve got limited funds and you want to visit anyway, I suggest you go straight to dessert. There’s a chocolate caramel tart in the cabinet. It will blow your mind.

Excellent bay side café; really, really good quality food. There’s a bakery attached so we know everything has been freshly baked that day(breads, cakes etc). You can even go round the side a pick up a few loaves and treats for the road. Modern European… flavours? Easy food to eat,(and by that I mean it isn’t going to push boundaries but you’re guaranteed to enjoy it. It is kind of pricy(250ml smoothie for $ 8 was a but steep for me) but it’s nice once in a while. Side note: these are the same owners of ‘The Richmond Road Café’, ‘Takapuna Beach Café’ and recently opened ‘The Store’ in Britomart
