Dogs at the counter sniffing food? No thanks. Returned after 5 years away from NZ hoping for good things from a local favourite. Either ownership/staff have changed or standards dropped. Coffee was burnt. Cabinet food distinctly chewy, probably best served to the dogs now allowed inside.

We often think sweet treats aren’t worth the calories but not here. To grab a great coffee and tiny, excellent sugar hit and slowly savour them while sitting in the sun on the Kohi Beach benches is heaven. We haven’t done it often lately as the secret got out. The premises are so small and the weekend crowd so enormous it took some of the joy away. We struck gold at 11am on a Monday morning. Cabinets full and The Store was ours. A roulade(oh bliss, nuts and cake and creamy filling. Just might be the new fav from 2 macarons!) and a pear tart(declared«very nice» by mr j — he doesn’t do «gush») with coffee in winter sun. I’ll stop now before I gush!

This is the same owners as Café on Kohi, The Bar, Milse, Richmond Rd Café, St Heliers Bay Bistro etc… Allpress all good, gelato and ice cream from this place is award winning. I love that the food is always interesting and regularly changes. It’s a shame they don’t label so be prepared to ask about every item before ordering. Ask for a large coffee because the regular default is really small. It’s pricey and there will be a wait on takeaway drinks on the weekends but it’s quality.

This review is for GELATO! Buy yourself a double scoop and stroll across the road to sit on the beach and you will be back everyday of the week i am sure. The flavours are phenomenal — recommenations include Feijoa, salted caramel and coconut. It’s simple — it shoudl be on your list fo things to do TODAY!

Allpress Coffee! Great place to grab ice cream at Kohimarama beach away from the business of Mission bay which is getting a bit too popular. Great selection of sandwiches and meal options, although there’s no seating. So plop yourself down on the grass, bench, or sand and enjoy the day.

I don’t think this place has anything to do with Café on Kohi, but that is how I discovered it as it is just round the corner. It’s a small deli type café, it’s strikes me more as a takeaway place rather than a sit down type of café but that’s what I love about it. They have a corner counter and their big coffee machine sits on it at the front which makes it easy to walk up and order. A lot of their baked items both sweet and savoury sit on top of the counter. I know this is trendy and looks good but I have a bit of an issue with food being uncovered. Especially with people standing in line around it and coughing etc, but if I put my OCD aside everything tastes really good. I particularly like their pizza bread as it isn’t very expensive but has lots of delicious ingredients on it and is easy to grab and go. Now onto their sweets cabinet, oh holy deliciousness it is amazing. Everything is on display so beautifully and my absolute favourite is their big wedge of pecan pie which I always prefer to buy because it is so time consuming to make. I love this convenient little place, such a wonderful addition to the Kohi shops.

The Store provides great quality takeaway food, usually the ideal hungover option for me when a coffee and decent feed is in order. The lamb flat bread is my personal favourite, although the pies and lasagne are also fantastic. The cook’s never scurge on ingredients, providing generous amounts of toppings and seasoning. Although it may seem pricey, it is well worth it with the filling, tasty sandwiches and pies. A secret of their quality may be sharing the same kitchen(and staff) as the Café On Kohi next door! However be prepared to wait, particularly on the weekends, with queues out the door, especially if it is a sunny day with Kohi Beach on the shop’s doorstep.
