Yes. I know this is Columbus, and I know that it’s not ‘cool’ in the café world. But I have a secret soft spot for this one. Well I guess it’s not so secret anymore. I’ve popped in here a few times and have been pleasantly surprised every time. I love the outdoor seating. It’s not like other Columbuses that are poky and a little dark. With huge bifolding doors it’s got ideal indoor-outdoor flow. Perfect for us Kiwis and for Auckland weather. Their coffee is legit. As good as any café I’ve been to in a while. And the best thing about this café is that you can txt them your coffee order and they’ll have it ready and waiting for you when you swing past. Perfect for those times when you’re rushed and in need of your caffeine fix fast. The staff are really friendly and there’s a great café culture happening which is evident but the huge amount of people that are always there.

I am writing this review solely on 1/Peppermint Chocolate slice, yes it was yummy but so incredibly sweet that I think I almost gave myself diabetes in an instant. 2/Staff; young girl, quite friendly but was off in a daze a bit, this may also be because she was obviously new, I was observing them for a while as I had to line up in a queue. The girl needed to get her supervisor as she wasn’t able to complete her transaction. Supervisor was busy in the bathroom but came and helped quickly but with distractions of her own. It wasn’t a relaxed vibe, but I am not judging this as a fixed fact, just as a first impression. The venue is spacious inside and would be good for groups.

The glossy magazines are great at Columbus Coffee in Glen Eden. I know because I come here often and if I can I will always arrive a little earlier than my friends in order to glance through the pages of fashion. This café is not so long open but definitely has cornered the clientele. Whatever time of day you will find the café culture alive and well here. Coffee is delicious, the cakes and pastries are tasty and the meals are satisfying. While this is a chain brand what I like about this Glen Eden café is that the staff are really lovely and get to know you by name, goes towards making it our little local hang out and a great place to meet.
