Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch and anything in-between. Quintessentially Kiwi (with a British twist!) we provide tasty, good value fare aimed at the whole family.
This is the place we drop in for coffee and sometimes a nibble when we are shopping at the Oratia market’s on the weekend. The service has been known to be a bit slow, but they are generally always busy, so I excuse that ok. It is the type of place that would be nice to bring your Nanna really, sweet, atmospheric and with old fashioned furniture and local art covering the walls to add a more ‘modern touch’. Senior staff have always been very friendly and good humoured, obviously enjoying what they do. They have a great location in regards to the market foot traffic, and you can eat and drink indoors or outside if you get in first.

I probably wouldn’t visit this café unless I was going to Just Plane Interesting, but it’s a nice place to sit and have a slice of cake or breakfast. We did take my mum here for Mother’s Day once and it was OK. It gets pretty busy, so sometimes the wait is a bit long, but not too bad. It would be much better if they served good coffee, but it’s really not good. Their ice coffees are especially bad, at least last time I went. Other than that it is reasonably priced, and the actual café is so cute. It’s quirky and has art work all around the place that you can buy. It’s set in the orchards in beautiful Oratia, so if it’s a nice day the scenery is lovely and you can make a real day of it, looking at the gallery, the antique store and grabbing a bite. There’s not too much parking but you can usually find a spot somewhere.
