Description

Specialties

Le Roys Bush is a great place to go walking or jogging.

The tracks connect many local roads and also lead from Little Shoal Bay beach through one of the largest raupo wetlands in the area, then through mixed podocarp «rain» forest up to Highbury and Hinemoa Street cafes and restaurants.

A group of volunteers helps the Parks Department maintain and restore this beautiful tract of native bush. If you’d like to help please join us.

See our website for more information on how to enjoy and protect Le Roys Bush.

History

Established in 1948.

Edward Le Roy developed and planted the native bush on his property in the first half of the 20th century. After his death, the reserve was purchased from his estate by public subscription and government contributions. Over the years the reserve has been extended by donation and purchase.
