Stationery stores have become huge over the last couple of years with the likes of Typo and Smiggle. In my fair and honest opinion, Smiggle has nothing on Typo. But in their defence I think their products or more aimed at kids and I know my sister gets lots of stuff from here for her classroom (she is a teacher). The thing I do like about Smiggle is how colourful the stores are, and how everything is colour coordinated. If I didn’t get my stationery for free I would probably get more stuff from here, but I do always come and have a look for ideas for presents for my cousins and they always seem to like the stuff from here.

This shop was really really cool when it came out, and was one of the first points-​of-​call when you needed a cool, colour themed stationary type gift for someone. The entire shop is arranged by the colour of their products, which are bright and varied.
They had a few innovative and really cool things that had never really been seen in NZ before, like multi-​coloured multi-​zipped pencil cases (these were very popular at one point), cool little booklights and watch bands, fat pencils of all different colours (including metallics!) and more. Sadly, Smiggle has had to contend with all sorts of competition lately, with stores like Typo popping up all over the place. It’s still a cool place, though.
