If your into organic and this and that then this is the place to go. It’s a supermarket as well as a restaurant. 98% organic. To be respected. Kale salad is excellent. Green smoothie is pricey but puts a smile on your face. There is a selection of organic dessert items you can get. I’m all for it.

I really like it here… I go often. Mainly to pick up provisions and a salad for dinner or lunch. This place is top shelf… in a hippy/bohemian kind of way. I usually raid the salad bar there — choose a selection and go. It can get crowded there at times and parking is a major challenge(this is across the road not outside) so better to buy and go. I can attest to an excellent standard and variety of food. Love it.

I had the raw cheesecake and a large wrap with beetroot and carrot juice, one of the tips is to go here on payday and I’d have to agree, but for what I paid and how full I felt after the lunch was spot on. Everything looks delicious and tastes clean, if your into clean eating and holistic products this is the place to come to.

Starving after a breakfast of green juice hours before, I drove through Saturday, Auckland mad shoppers’ traffic to Wise Cicada for a healthy lunch. Must admit I very nearly skidded to a halt outside a pizza place on the way. Thank goodness there wasn’t a park, even for my little white(what some people would call a toy) car. Wise Cicada was jam-packed with healthy looking types munching away on servings of mother nature’s gifts, crystals clanking against plate rims. I almost felt overdressed in my walking garb! I chose a selection of salads of the day: cauliflower/cabbage in a vegan dressing so creamy and smooth it put a smile on my dial; kale drenched in olive oil; quinoa with diced spring onion and capsicum; beetroot and cabbage slaw. Topped with a dollop of black olive tapenade. Yum. All fresh and crunchy. Couldn’t go past a small piece of raw choc biscotti for afterwards. Perfect. With such an extensive menu — juices, smoothies, soups, curries, raw sweet treats to name a few — it’s no wonder the place is so popular. There’s a friendly hum of contentedness in Wise Cicada which not all cafes have. An oasis in bustling Newmarket.

LOVE this place. Such a great range of organic produce and the salad bar is to die for. An absolute favourite.

Wise Cicada is one of the few places in Auckland that serves organic, free range, nutritious vegetarian meals, salads and sweet delights. Although I do sometimes cringe at the prices, I try to tell myself that all the ingredients that are used are top of the range, homemade and delicious. I have since only been coming here in moderation or when I am in need of a pick up! While I do love the salads(a medium sized salad costs about $ 15, as they do now price it on weight), I am a huge fan of their sweet treats. They have a good range of raw/gluten free/dairy free desserts, cakes, tarts and bliss balls. When I arrive at Wise Cicada, I always head for the baking cabinet! Last time I went, I couldn’t go past the Raw Vegan Cacao Cheesecake — absolutely delicious and I would far rather that than a piece of normal chocolate cake! It was a melt in your mouth kind of dessert and the perfect way to end a healthy and tasty lunch!

Recently this shop has installed new vege coolers shelving and fridge freezers. A welcome addition because I used to be turned off from the slap happy feel of the place. It’s now clean and today and has a great easy to find range of foodstuffs, supplements, ready to go foods from the cabinet as well as hot meals which are vego. They have a loyalty card which accumulates points much like the a Huckleberry/Harvest card. It’s not much, but it’s something. Parking here is a total pain, there is a few car parks on the left hand side of the shop in a shared car park but they are always taken. You can park on the street or chance it by taking a Beds R Us spot.

Grabbed a healthy lunch on the run from here at a friends suggestion. I had bought grocery items before but never ate from the café. I had a soy chai — delicous! Tasted fresh, complexly spicy and not too sweet, a new fav for me as I no longer drink coffee. Yummy and filling — falafel wrap. With loads of hummus, quinoa salad, kale falafel… It was amazing. Cutely tied with string, all up $ 17 not the cheapest but it’s great food good for you so worth it!

After visiting Wise Cicada on a number of occasions, I’ve decided they deserve a little reevaluation. Tis true, the smoothies still cost $ 12(and aren’t .ever, in my opinion) and a medium size salad(now measured by weight) will set you back ~$ 15 — BUT there’s still good reason WC is worthy of a visit: why? Their impressive, unique selection. It may sound silly but, since living in New Zealand, one of the major things I long for is VARIETYATTHESUPERMARKET. With only two«major» supermarket companies, the products at Countdown and New World/Pak n Sav can get pretty damn boooring. Thus the reason walking into Wise Cicada is a breath of fresh air. They carry a vast array of natural, organic products everything ranging from organic coconut sugar to asian pear and ginger kombucha to essential oils to raw chocolate(pana’s fig and wild orange chocolate is freaking delicious). Soo my advice to you? Skip an overpriced smoothie and instead spend your time perusing their array of delicious, nutritious product range(they usually have free samples too!). Plus they introduce new products fairly regularly so there’s always something new to check out!

Came here for lunch to takeaway after hearing about it from work. Awesome shop/café along the main road with street parking on the road and side streets. Had the quinoa salad with cauliflower salad and also left with a slice of their white chocolate raw cheesecake. Was so great to have something healthy and organic. Their dessert was divine and creamy but definitely only a one slice treat. Must come back to browse their store!

The salad bar here is pretty good– is all organic and vegetarian! The quinoa salad is amazing, I love how you can have toasted seeds, nutritional yeast and LSA on top. The salad is $ 4 per 100g which is rather expensive, so a lunch will set you back about $ 15 for a moderate portion. However, you are paying for quality as opposed to quantity. Give the hot meal a miss, try a raw dessert. I really enjoyed the salads here– they are really healthy– my mum found it a little too healthy and earthy for her liking. Some of the products inshore are overpriced and are less expensive at other stores. The staff seem to all be into healthy lifestyle which is encouraging. The acai berry breakfast looks incredible-will have to try next time. Note: all salads are not ready till 11am

Vegans, vegetarians and health-obsessesed delight in this establishment! The cabinet is full of baking(or un baking raw goodies) that look ridiculously tempting. How is somethign SO healthy, SO delicious? I recommend getting a plate of a couple of salads. Don’t go past the Singapore Slaw — for coleslaw they have doen somethign special. Or, the marinated kale salad with a big dollop of hummus and a sprinking of nuts on top. leave time to peruse the store and buy some healhty goodies to take with you to make your own treats at home. You could easily rack up a pretty big bill in the store, it’s not cheap but that”s because it’s the real deal organic stuff. yum!

This is definitely your one-stop-shop for all your vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy free supplies. Looking for eco-friendly cleaning supplies. Yup! Homeopathy? You bet?! Herbal supplements(Maca, Acai, Chia)? Of course! Not only is it a great shop, they have an amazing café with incredible vegan and vege salads, soups, and sweets. To top it all off they do amazing juices, smoothies and coffee. Located in the heart of Newmarket the only issue is you might have some difficulty finding parking nearby during peak hours and days.

One of my favorite spots in Auckland without a doubt. While salad bars are cropping up everywhere in malls and the like I feel like Wise Cicada is one of only a few establishments where you can trust every single ingredient in their meals. Which actually makes me kinda sad, we should be demanding such an excellent standard of food and preparation from everyone but at least someone out there is giving it to us. The Brazilian acai breakfast is probably my favorite way to start the day and seldom do I visit without getting one of their superfood smoothies. A little pricey but again they’re using top notch organic ingredients and they’re my favorite smoothies in town. For a decent part of my life I was vegetarian and then vegan though now I’m pescetarian, however the same mentality of being really conscious and thoughtful about exactly what you’re putting into your body has remained so I do a lot of my grocery shopping here because of their great organic range you can’t really find in this country. So far Wise Cicada has the best variety of non-dairy milk I’ve found. I come here to stock up on my favorite hazelnut milk and hemp milk which always gets a few giggles from friends(P.S hemp milk contains no THC so you can’t get stoned from it lol). Plus Wise Cicada has a great range of organic natural skincare so you can take care of yourself inside and out. People always tell me they’d buy more organic if the prices weren’t so high and for me it’s just such an obvious choice. While I get that not everyone can spare $ 10 for a litre of organic hemp milk, it’s way more important for me to make sure my body is getting everything it needs over saving a few dollars. It’s expensive to be healthy but it’s even more expensive to be sick! Anyway I’m so glad that there’s even ONE Wise Cicada in Auckland and all this talk has got me craving another superfood smoothie so I’ll see your radiant glowing selves ASAP.

I really want to give the Wise Cicada both one star and five stars. It’s five stars if you like a place that has about ninety million different kinds of water on tap. It’s one star if you really just can’t taste any difference, no matter how hard you try. Similarly, it’s five star if you like your lunch options to be vegan/gluten-free/organic with a vengeance. It’s one star if you want more options for lunch that five salads you kind of feel you could make better at home. There’s no doubt the interior is cosy in that down-home kind of way, and the staff are really friendly(although I get the feeling you’re always happy when you live in la-la-land). Try it, I guess. Come here to talk about composting and cloth nappies, and for for the love of god, don’t carry a fox fur in a plastic bag.

This is always and will always be my go to health food store. They stock everything you could imagine and everything I have ever needed. A new range that they stock and one of my favourites is the Little Bird raw organics range. They also have endless varieties of coconut butters, oils, sugars and flours… perfect if you are into healthy baking. The most wonderful thing about this place? They sell delicious raw goodies like cheesecake, truffles and cookies all at really reasonable prices. I love coming here for lunch knowing that they are going to have something that I want to eat and will feel good about eating. Also if you get the chance you must try their chia seed drink I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how good it tastes. The people who work here are extremely knowledgable about the products they sell as they are all passionate about health and wellbeing, if I have ever had a question someone there has always known exactly how to answer it and help me out. I love you Wise Cicada please don’t ever change!

I am vegan so this has to be one of my favourite places in Auckland. Wise Cicada is part café and part specialty health food store of which I have been coming to for years. The grocery part of the store has everything you need to be wholesome and healthy, they also stock Loving Earth chocolate which is amazing vegan chocolate that is hard to come by. There is also an extensive range of oils and other cooking ingredients that you just can’t get in a supermarket. I stay away from preservatives and this is one of the few places you can buy non preserved dried mango, bananas, papaya and apricots. Wise Cicada’s raw food café has some seriously flavoursome dishes so you can load up on antioxidants and other goodness here. The salads are low in calories but highly nutritious and you can opt to have tamari toasted seeds to add that extra crunch and protein to your meal. From the cabinet I highly recommend the vegan cheesecake, it may taste naughty but it isn’t and the seed cookies are super yum too. The staff are equally amazing here, extremely friendly and knowledgeable so if you haven’t been before do your body a favour and pay Wise Cicada a visit.
