Oasis is located in what«was» a local gayborhood, but that was 20 years ago. At that time the area was loaded with gay bars, but no longer. The gay flock has pretty much flown coop, but there are a few birds of the gay feather that flock here. However, that is only on weekends, at late hours, and even then it isn’t a very lively romping place to hit. Overall it’s clean and though the inside bar area is rather smallish, it has a great outdoor patio perfect for conversation and relaxing. The drinks aren’t much and the bartender seems to use the age old trick of sort floating the booze on top of the mixer so at first taste you might be deceived in to believing you’re getting a solid drink, but that isn’t the case. At least with me, had I consumed the same amount elsewhere I would have definitely fit within the definition of «sloshed.» And though there may be other more attentive bartenders at other times, the one I experienced was one of the worst, far more interested in playing with his mobile device than attending to customer needs. So as far as I see it, Oasis is a «Meh!»; a left over relic and lone survivor of what once was a thriving gayborhood.

My partner and I enjoyed a relaxing lunch. We both had the lunch special, he had the stewed beef and I had the stewed chicken. Both came with a side salad and red beans and rice. The service was was very good and other customers were very friendly.

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon the place accidentally. It is a gay bar/club at night and an amazing lunch spot during the day. Wow! We’ve been here 3 times already and they’re 3⁄3. Great food. Great cheap drinks. And an amazing patio.

It’s hard to know what to make of this place from the outside, but it’s a friendly neighborhood saloon that’s welcoming to locals and visitors alike. Oasis has indoor and outdoor seating, with different feels to each. The patio in front is very relaxed, almost like someone’s backyard, though a TV on the wall is always playing a concert video from one pop diva or another. Open the front door and you are immediately hit with a cloud from the smoke machine that works overtime inside. There’s disco lighting and a picture of Humphrey Bogart on the wall, plus the same diva video from outside plays inside too, though sometimes the audio is off in favor of very, very loud house music. The staff are friendly guys and pretty free with the shots. Happy hour deals are great, especially the Medalla two-for-one $ 5 special. There’s usually a go-go dancer or two on the prowl who might dance up on you. They’re pretty relaxed and playful, not on prowl like you might find in other places, though one did let me know a lap dance could be bought. If that’s your thing, knock yourself out. I went to Oasis several times, at different times of the night, and there was usually no crowd at all, but on a couple occasions, there were a lot of locals, letting loose and whooping it up. It’s a comfortable place to let go and a bit of fun on any night.

The oddly named Oasis Bar Tapas Lounge ended up being our gay bar of choice while staying in Condado since it was a block away from our hotel. There are no tapas and it’s not very loungy. We went every night, sometimes twice! It’s a small dive and surprisingly never crowded which was weird since it’s the only«advertised» gay bar within the Condado Beach hotel resort area. Plus, multiple travel sites say a lot of gays live in the area. Four stars mainly because bartender Henry was awesome and very friendly. He remembered our drinks and our names. He even let us pick the music video concert to watch & listen to, switching from a Puerto Rican pop diva concert to Lady Gaga. The sound system is solid and there’s plenty of room to dance. If it’s too loud, or it’s too foggy inside, you can relax under cover outdoors. That’s where a bunch of us watched the Miss Universe pageant in Spanish LOL. Happy Hour daily til 8 kept us coming back for 2 for $ 5 Medalla local brew and $ 4 wells. The rest room is super clean for a gay bar! The go-go boys are friendly and approachable too ;)
