Zürich Hauptbahnhof

Also, ich mag diesen Bahnhof. Vielleicht gehe ich zu oft, aber es ist OK. Jedes Mal das ich reise, gehe ich dort, ob mit Flugzeug oder Zug. Es ist nicht immer einen «ende Bahnhof» und manchmal Zug bleiben hier nicht sehr lang oder man muss genau um pünktlich sein um Zug nicht zu warten. Es kann Kalt bekommen unter das Dach (oder draußen, wann man in zweite Klasse ist!).
Wenn man nicht reise, kann man dort gehen am Sonntags oder Feiertags wenn es gibt nichts in deinem Kühlschrank (hoffentlich nicht zu oft) alles wird geöffnet sein. Persönlich versuche ich es nicht zu viel zu machen andernfalls Schweizer werden das Europe und US schlechte Gewohnheit bekommen, sonntags alles zu öffnen!

Eine gigantische Bahnhofshalle– im Dezember geschmückt mit einem von Swarowski geschmückten und richtig glitzernden riesigen Weihnachtsbaum… Schon alleine dieser Anblick ist es wert sich den größten Schweizer Bahnhof anzuschauen. Mit fast einer halben Million Passagiere ist hier auch immer etwas los. Dieser Kopfbahnhof ist sehr gut in der Stadt verankert und perfekt erreichbar. Auf mehreren Ebenen fahren Fern– und Regionalzüge, wie auch S-​Bahnen… Die sich als schnelle und präsente Zubringer zeigen. Neben Zügen gibt es hier auch Einkaufsgeschosse– schön dekoriert und hell beleuchtet. Auch Restaurants, Cafés und Lebensmittel können hier besucht, bzw. eingekauft werden. Raus aus dem Bahnhof — direkt in die Altstadt. In wenigen Minuten ist man angekommen. Die Beschilderung in den einzelnen Bahnhof-​Teilen ist perfekt: auch beim Erstbesuch findet sich ein Jeder zurecht. Dabei heißt es für die teilweise langen Wege genug Zeit einplanen. Zurich HB is a prime example how the Swiss get things right. In most cities around the world, the main train station isn’t the best part of town. HB is right in the heart of the city and even spawns off Bahnhoffstrasse which is the most expensive shopping street in Switzerland.
There are many shops in HB to get the latest electronics, mobile phones, food, cheese, wine, coffee, chocolate, etc. There are storage lockers and showers for those travelling. There are even clean drinking fountains on some of the platforms!
It’s well connected — you can take the train to almost all destinations in Switzerland and there are many international trains as well taking you directly to cities in France, Germany, Austria, Italy, etc.
The BEST part of the station is the main open area on ground level. They convert this into many events throughout the year. I’ve seen Christmas markets, beach volleyball, a weekly farmers market and best of all — the mid-​summer ball where everyone dresses up, dances the waltz, and they bring in the Vienna Orchestra — crazy!

When visiting Zurich you get the chance to experience an authentic piece of the city right behind the main station.
Tram stop Bahnhofquai is an interesting area. Waiting room for some of the homeless, podium for some deranged creatures, sitting there waiting for Godot, entertaining the commuter community. Vocally lecturing oodles of oddities, raw and unfiltered.
It’s fine to get an eyeful in order to find out whether it’s safe to watch the show or to better ignore the person. I once couldn’t help but grinning at a furiously swearing woman. That apparently prompted her to invent a new swear word in her helpless attempt to insult me. Made me laugh.
Often there’s a group of homeless sitting with their dogs at the beginning of the nearby bridge (Bahnhofbrücke). One guy seems to be at the tram stop every day, quickly passing through the waiting crowds, asking for money, loyally followed by his dog.
Today I was on the tram towards this stop when halfway an insane guy entered. In a hell of a rage. Screaming his hatred through the carriage, threatening people who would provoke him. One could feel the fury in his curses energetically. Alcoholic, to smell even meters away. This guy has lost his marbles a long time ago. Everyone was glad when the tram stopped at Bahnhofquai, where most passengers got off, including the lunatic.
Zurich main station is a melting pot of all kinds of characters. Until two years ago there used to be an old lady standing next to her wheel chair in the concourse every single day. She was an icon, sort of the station’s mascot. Everyone knew her but hardly anyone knew her story. I only heard the rumour that she was waiting for her son to come home, who had died in war. But what she really did was blessing the people passing. All day long.
What an amazing stage for the humans of Zurich and the world.

No se puede creer esta estación. Enorme, limpia y funcional. Si llegás a Zürich en tren o micro vas a pasar por acá inevitablemente; y si llegás en avión, también: está ubicada en pleno centro de la ciudad.
Todo está bien señalizado, no hace falta que hables ese engrendro de alemán-​francés que usan en Suiza para que lo entiendas. Todo está conectado con tram y S-​Bahn, la mayoría pasan pro la estación central. Los trenes larga distancia obviamente también salen de acá. Y si tenés que viajar en micro la terminal está a muy pocos metros de ésta estación.
Además de estar todo perfectamente señalizado, todo respeta su horario. Si el cartel dice que 15:36 hs llega el tren, 15:36 hs está ahí. No tenés reloj? se murió tu celular? No te preocupes, hay relojes gigantes por todas partes (no me esperaba menos de vos, Suiza). Y si tenés que hacer tiempo no te preocupes que está lleno de locales para comer o comprar cosas. Mil opciones donde tomarte un café y comerte una medialuna gigante.
Quizá lo más criticable son las máquinas para comprar tickets que hay acá y en toda la ciudad. Si bien se puede pagar con tarjeta, las tarjetas extranjeras suele rechazarlas. No acepta euros, sólo francos suizos. No acepta billetes, sólo monedas. Si bien está la opción de usarla en inglés tenés que conocer un poquito cómo funciona el transporte público allí para saber sacar el ticket correcto. Igual si no entendés algo o necesitás cambio acercate a cualquier local a hablarles en alemán roto que te miran sonrientes con ternura y te ayudan en todo.
Si, Europa es el primer mundo. Pero Zürich es primer mundo dentro del primer mundo. De no creer.

Sometimes with the main station in a city you get a colossal mess as platforms get added over time due to popular demand. Fortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case with the one in Zurich which is really well laid out and has a heap of amenities.
One special bonus you get here is a massive Christmas market during December. It’s huge, and bizarrely the Zurich tourist board doesn’t list it on their website — they just talk about the tree. The reason? It’s covered in about a thousand Swarovski crystals. Simply stunning!

Auf den ersten Blick erscheint das Angebot an Restaurants sehr überschaubar zu sein.
Dies ist jedoch nicht so. Eine zusätzliche Welt ist unter dem Bahnhof versteckt, in der man alles notwendige finden kann. Es lohnt sich also in die unteren Bereiche abzutauchen.
Plus: Kostenloses WiFi! Sehr gut.
Sehr schön auch zu Weihnachten mit dem großen Svarovski Tannenbaum in der großen Halle.
Angenehm bei jedem Wetter.

Enormous HB in the heart of Zürich. So many shops, tracks, food, bancomats, people, etc. Purchasing tickets can be extremely confusing (even the Swiss acknowledge this and is evident by the fact that a «ticket buying class for old people» exists), so take your time and ask if you need to.
«Subways» don’t exist here, only S-​Bahn, trams, and busses. The S-​Bahns serve as the subway as they have many stops in the city but also serve regional destinations.
If you need to arrive/​leave by bus as well, the bus station is across the street and easy to access but hard to find so give yourself some time!

Clean, modern, and huge — with lots of shops, grocery stores, and places to grab a quick bite while you’re waiting for your connection. However, if you don’t know where you’re going, it can be quite confusing. The two underground parts of the station aren’t connected, and you have to walk above ground to access the other side should you need to. They hold plenty of events here — market in Wednesdays (I think?), Christmas market in December, and I once stumbled upon a huge dance party, complete with stage lights and music, at 12am!

Needed to go to the airport from the main train station in Zuerich. My timeline was tight, so I needed to get things done quickly. Went to one of the automatic machines to buy a ticket and was rejected 5 times, because the machine did not take a credit card only a debit card. Took a lot of time, increasing stress level, then needed to find a place where I could buy a ticket from a person. There is only one place, took me some time to find it, as there are not many people working in the train station, that can give you information. Then I finally get to the place and there is a long line. Had to wait about 15 minutes in line, until I could finally buy a ticket to the airport (SFR 6.60) with a credit card. Ridiculous that you cannot buy a ticket with a credit card. 1 Star

It is a very big and modern station. Lots of places to eat and shop. The only issue: everything is expensive.

Ich bin begeistert vom neuen HB-​Teil: modern, hell und endlich kann man von der Tramhaltestelle Sihlquai alle Gleise bequem erreichen.
Auch die Take-​Aways wirken höchst modern und bieten einen schnelle und auch gesunde Verpflegung für Zwischendurch an.
Die Anzeigetafeln für die Abfahrten hier finde ich immer sehr verständlich — nur eventuell könnten die Gleis-​Wegbeschreibungen etwas unkomplizierter sein — habe mich nicht zum ersten Mal verlaufen — dabei bin ich in Zürich aufgewachsen (thihi). Seit den neuen Gleisen ist es aber einfach geworden und auch die Laufzeiten kürzer.
Wo ich jedoch einen fetten Minuspunkt abziehen muss, wären die Schalter. Hier ist es immer voll und es geht sehr langsam voran. Ebenfalls kann dir hier nicht geholfen werden, wenn etwas mit der SBB App schief ging und falls du Mal das Datum falsch gewählt hast, wird dir beim Zurückerstatten 10 Franken abgezogen — finde das etwas übertrieben. Schliesslich könnte man auf gewisse Dinge in der SBB App auch hinweisen und diese noch kundenfreundlicher gestalten.
Pluspunkt: Bancomate findet ihr neu bei den Ticketschaltern.
Hier gibts übrigens auch von Zeit zu Zeit Events in der Halle oben und auch coole Märkte. Freue mich auf die nächste Glühweinzeit! :)

Love this train station! I’m comparing it to what you get in the US, other parts of Western Europe and Asia and this place has everything you need from Media Markt (similar to a Best Buy in the US) to grocery stores (Coop and Migros) to lots of chocolate shops (Sprungli, Laderach) and clothing/​shoe stores, even a lingerie store, cafes and Nord See for your fish and chips, Burger King, etc. There is usually an event going on on the ground floor in the open space where the Christmas Market is held every year.
There’s free wifi here and in lots of other SBB stations. It’s never as disgusting and chaotic as NYC’s Penn Station and there’s a lot more going on than Paris’ Gare du Nord or London’s Paddington station. The health clinic, Permanence, is also incredible and I would go there or the pharmacy next door for my health needs.
You’ve got the trams up top, S-​bahn downstairs, you even have those airport carts if you have luggage (but you need some coins to deposit and unlock a cart). There are plenty of TVs with up to date schedules throughout the station and there’s even a flower shop but the flowers are crazy overpriced (and small). There are usually some sausage grills upstairs and a legit butcher underneath the ground floor!

Tipp: ab 10 Tagen Zürich lohnt sich eine Monatskarte für die Agglomeration. Schon etwas her, damals Tagesticket ZH 8sfr, Monatskarte Agglo 80sfr
Direkt im ZVV Center wird das nötige Bild für die Trägerkarte gemacht.

I have seen many train stations but nothing like this one. The Epicenter of Zurich. Amazing place to just walk around, shop, eat and people watch.
We had a fantastic meal in the Federal restaurant in the station. Typical Swiss cuisine and very tasty. Many beers to choose from and great service.
The best thing I found was the Travel Bureau. You can buy all of your train tickets in advance for your entire stay and avoid using the machines at local stations where your credit card might not work. TAKE NOTE OF THIS or carry cash. The people at the TB were very helpful and we were able to buy open ended tickets for travel in France and back to Zurich.
The station is clean and the trains are very prompt. Wish we had this system in America as far as the ease of travel nationally and the vast train network.
The Christmas Market was in full swing which made the station very beautiful.

Hauptbahnhof Zürich ist einer den Besten BHs die ich gesehen habe. Die Stadt investiert sehr viel, um der Bahnhof schön, sauber, und immer wechselnde Veranstaltungen, Parties, Messen oder variierende Events machen der HB Zürich eine Haltestelle der Ultimativ.
Im Moment läuft z.b.s der Weihnachtsmarkt. Früher war es die Oktoberfest. Der HB ist immer sehr animiert und ein «Must-​See» in Zürich.

Very huge train station! There you can find a lot of shops which are working even in weekends until late evening. If you need something, you can go there, and I bet you will find whatever you want.
P. S. As usual in Switzerland, the train station is very clean, and the schedule is pretty much precise.

This Train station is HUGE! Lots of shopping and dining as well. Everything here is English Speaking friendly. Easy to get around and conveniently located downtown in Zurich. At the moment there is a Christmas Street Fair with lots if local food, drinks and christmas related items.

My favorite Station in the world!
They have a fantastic Food Fare almost every day.
They even throw big parties here during the summer months. Street Parade or the likes of that. Very festive but also very packed at that time. Be prepared for train delays when that’s on. Even better, stick around for the Festivities if you have the time. Well worth it. Christmas time here is also worth checking out.

The station was clean, plenty of restaurants, lots of destinations & travel options, staff spoke English, German, French, and Italian. Nearby, a bunch of shops & restaurants. I’d recommend using the train when traveling through beautiful Switzerland and this is definitely the station as a main hub!
Oh and avoid taxi cab$$$$$ at all co$t$$$$!!!

Great train station! A pastry shop right when you enter, lots of different restaurants inside the terminal and right outside it as well. The tourist information desk is very informative and you can book tours through them. We booked a tour through Old Town Zurich through here and it was great!
There’s a lot of trains and stops at this train station, you won’t have an issue going anywhere. The station is very clean and plenty of seating! You can spend an hour or two in this train station and have it not feel like a train station at all. It’s almost like a mall in itself!

Nebst Zugsverbindungen in alle Himmelsrichtungen bietet der HB Zürich weitaus mehr als nur Reiseangebote. Von verschiedenstens Events in der Bahnhofshalle (Zürich tanzt, Sportanlässe, etc.) über die Gastronomie bis hin zur Buchhandlung und Blumen-​Shops für alle Last-​Minute-​Romantiker ist hier eine Fülle an Möglichkeiten für alle Touristen und Einheimischen vorhanden.
Komplettiert wird dieser Service Public mit unzähligen Taxi-​Fahrern die um die Kundschaft buhlen, und für alle die selber mit dem Auto kommen und gehen steht eine Vielzahl an Parkplätzen zur Verfügung.
In unmittelbarer Nähe befinden sich unt. anderem die Post, das Landesmuseum, die Bahnhofstrasse und die Limmat.

This was my first overseas destination back in 2004, so I have a sweet spot for Zurich, and for the Zurich hauptbahnhof.
The architecture inside and outside is worth soaking up.
If you get a hotel near the station (plenty of good ones in all price ranges), you are also right in the center of things — old town, shopping, churches, restaurants, coffee shops, and chocolate shops.

This is a train station for SBB (going to different cities) and ZVV (S line, for different area of zurich). It seems confusing at first but once you get used to the station, this might be one of the most efficient station you might have experienced.
There is a supermarket (grocery store) inside of the station that opens 7 days a week.
ps: Most people at this train station speaks English very well. Just ask :)

I like Zürich HB ;-)
it has a lot of shopping possebilities and restaurants right there on different levels.
If it is your first time there you might get a bit confused by the underground passages.
It is large, but not as huge as other international train stations. So you do not walk 30 minutes from one side to the other. Only track 51+ are a bit far away.
It might not be an architectural masterpiece but it is efficient and practical.
The big hall is often used for markets or other events.

Ein super Bahnhof! Man kommt überall hin und das Personal ist immer super nett, auch wenns mal voll ist. Zum Einkaufen gibts auch mehr als genug und das auch an Feiertagen…

Great train station. Everything is open, every day, hooray! Clean restrooms, or WC as the Swiss call it but don’t forget to bring your 2chf or equivalent in change, as it ain’t free. The station also offers showers. I think that will set you back 10chf. Shopping is great. They have one of the area’s nicest Italian deli. The train ticket stall is efficient run with friendly English speaking employees. As with all of Swiss transport, trains run on time. One star deduction due to the stank of cigarette smoke. My main complaint about all of Europe actually.

A good station with a lot of shopping and eating options. They even had a market right inside the station on the day that I was there.
The signing is good and was easily able to find my connection from a local train underground on one side of the station to a long distance train above ground on the other side of the station.
It also helps that the station itself is beautiful old building.

Eine Location an welcher sich seit Jahr und Tag die Entwicklung des öffentlichen Verkehrs greifbar vollzieht — beispielhaft wie nirgendwo sonst in der Schweiz.
Seit ich denken kann ist das hier eine Baustelle. Jüngst zieht die Monsterbaustelle der Durchmesserlinie die ganze mediale Aufmerksamkeit auf sich — und gespannt erwarten wir die versprochene Entlastung und Fahrplanstabilität.
Sorgenkind Fahrplan jetzt mal weggelassen…
Ich betrachte den HB etwas anders.
Die Zeit lässt sich an seinen Baulichkeiten wundervoll ablesen. Hier prallen Epochen aufeinander ohne gegensätzlich zu sein — der HB ist ein wahres Puzzle aus Meilensteinchen — historisch gewachsen und mit der Handschrift vieler Architekten.
Schön oder nicht — beeindruckend allemal.
Es lohnt sich echt die Augen offen zu halten — die scheinbare Hektik aussen vor zu lassen — den Bau und den Betrieb einfach mal zu beobachten und die Szenerie auf sich wirken zu lassen.
Ich bin echt gerne hier — und geniesse zwischendurch bewusst ein solches TimeOut.
Er hat etwas sehr poetisches dieser Bahnhof.
Längst ist er nicht mehr nur Bahn-​Reise Zentrum. Er ist Kulturzentrum, Kunstgalerie und selbst Kunst-​Objekt…
Sportarena, Marktplatz, Werbeplattform, Shopping-​Zentrum, Gastro-​Meile und vieles mehr in Einem.
Nun aber doch noch kurz zu seiner Kernaufgabe.
Ich empfinde das Leitsystem für Reisende als unübersichtlich bis verwirrend. Es bedarf einiger Erfahrung um sich mühelos durchzuschlagen. Die Wege sind bisweilen sehr lang und man kann sich durchaus verlaufen. Das führt zu mindestens einem Sternverlust.

Dä HB. Ich liebe ihn und ich hasse ihn und ich sehe ihn praktisch jeden Tag, wenn ich in der Schweiz bin.
Lieben tu ich dass die Züge fast immer pünktlich sind, auf die Minute! Den Migros, wo ich mir oft Zmorge kaufe und all die anderen Geschäfte, wo man sich die Zeit um die Ohren schlagen kann, wenn man selber nicht so pünktlich war wie der Zug und auf den nächsten warten muss.
Hassen tu ich die vielen Leute, die meistens immer genau da rumstehen, wo man durch muss, die Zigarettenrauchwolke, wenn man in die Bahnhofshalle kommt und die hektische Stimmung.
Alles in allem ist es aber so ziemlich der beste Bahnhof, den ich bis jetzt kenne und daher kriegt er von mir verdiente 5 Sterne.

Der Züricher Hauptbahnhof ist so einer der Bahnhöfe, die man gut und gerne mal besucht. Sei es nun als Reisender oder einfach mal so.
Die alte Bahnhofshalle ist sehr gepflegt und schön restauriert worden. Hier kann man das Nötigste kaufen und bekommt auch noch den ein oder anderen Snack.
Zu Street Parade Zeiten wird hier groß gefeiert und DJs legen direkt in der Halle auf. Mit solch einer Idee für einen deutschen Bahnhof, würde man von der Deutschen Bahn gleich aus dem Land gejagt werden.
Die Anbindung an den Flughafen ist super. Zirka 20 Minuten und man ist mit dem Zug über Oerlikon da.
Da der Bahnhof sehr zentral liegt erreicht man den Zürichsee zu Fuß.
Eine große Tram-​Station vor dem Haupteingang, neschert einen eine gute Anbindung auch in die Außenbezirke von Zürich.
Zu den Rush-​Hour-​Zeiten ist der Hauptbahnhof sehr voll und wuselig, da hat man es mit einem Koffer im Schlepptau schon nicht leicht durchzukommen.

My first time here I was a panicked, terrified little girl. I got out at Gleis 41 and wondered how the F to get out of this place. Really, I couldn’t figure out how to find daylight. I wandered for a while and then figured if I just walked in one direction long enough I’d eventually find an escalator.
If you’re not used to train stations then it’s a bit scary (I had never really been on a train, so this was utter chaos for me), but the directions are actually very accurate and placed almost everywhere. If you need to get to a gate, you’ll have no problem. There are signs directing you every which way. Now, if you need to figure out where to go that may be more of a problem if you don’t know.
With all that said I love this train station. If I have extra time I’ll pick up some groceries on my way home, or I’ll peruse some clothing stores. There’s also a lost and found that is very helpful if you’ve left your bag somewhere. (I never got my bag back, screw the asshole who took it!) But anyway, it’s a great train station. The trains are almost always on time and there are trains going to multiple locations all the time, so it’s easy to find a connection.
They also have lockers to leave your bags and very clean bathrooms.
Dieser Haptbahnhof hat viel Stelle und kanst du einfach deine Gleis finden. Es ist Information, Restaurants, Migros, und viele Ort fur Kleidung.

Die Geschäfte im Zürcher Hauptbahnhof haben das ganze Jahr über geöffnet und haben mir schon öfters an Feiertagen zu last minute Geschenken verholfen. Für Pendler ist der Bahnhof nicht ganz so angenehm, da er zu Stosszeiten ganz schön überfüllt sein kann. Ich versuche daher den Menschenmassen wo möglich zu umgehen. Es empfiehlt sich also drn Bahnhof vor oder nach den üblichen Pendlerzeiten aufzusuchen.
Obwohl der Bahnhof selten «ruhig» ist, reise ich gerne über den HB.

Weltoffen, Bunt, Lebendig, ²⁴⁄₇
alles was man braucht.

War lange Zeit der Lebensmittel Shop mit dem höchsten Umsatz pro Quadratmeter. Weltweit! Es ist für mich immer wieder eib Erlebnis hier in der Rush hour einzukaufen und das gewussel zu beobachten. Zugegebenermaßen ein Erlebnis der eger stressigen Art.

Grösster Bahnhof in der Schweiz. Gewusel und lebendig am Tag wie in der Nacht. Shops so weit das Auge reicht. Im Untergrund fahren die meisten S-​Bahnen. Gleis 3 – 18 dient mehrheitlich dem Intercity-​Verkehr. Der Bahnhof verfügt sogar über eine Bahnhofkirche. Services viel zu umfangreich, um alle Dienstleistungen zu beschrieben.

Der beliebteste Treffpunkt Zürichs und der bekannteste Ort in Zürich: der Hauptbahnhof. Für jede Stadt ist der Haupfbahnhof ein Markenzeichen und definiert die Stadt. Sie zeigt den Besuchern nur einige Sekunden nach ihrer Ankunft, was Zürich so zu bieten hat und sprüht nur so von Leben.
Das öffentliche Netz der Schweiz ist sehr gut organisiert und das kriegen die Besucher hier als allererstes zu sehen. Wenn man Hilfe braucht, muss man nicht weit suchen, bevor man sie findet und wenn man hilflos an einem Sonntagnachmittag nach ein paar neue Schuhe sucht, weil die, die man anhat kaputt gegangen sind, ist man hier am richtigen Ort.
Das Angebot an Essen, Kleider und Dienstleistungen ist gross aber das ist nicht das Erfreulichste an diesem Ort:
Es sind die Menschen. Unter der grossen Uhr stehen zahlreiche verschiedenen Typen von Menschen und warten auf jemanden. Ich finde es immer amüsant zu raten auf wen sie denn warten. Ist es auf ihren Freunde? Oder ihre Liebhaber? Blinddate? Grossmutter die zur Besuch kommt?
Tatsächlich habe ich mal erlebt, wie eine Frau auf einen Blinddate wartete. Oder auf jeden Fall nehme ich an, dass es das war. Sie war chick gekleidet und lächelte verlegen als er auf sie zukam. «Bist du Georg?» «Ja, und bist du Anna?»
Echt witzig.
Am sehr späteren Abend, oder soll ich sagen am frühen Morgen, ist der Hauptbahnhof aber weniger lustig. Aber trotzdem noch nicht beängstigend und es gibt immer genug Leute, so dass man nicht vor einem Überfall Angst haben muss.

DER HB. Treffpunkt der Botellón-​Jugend, anonymer Ameisenhaufen von Agglo-​Pendlern, An– und Abfahrtsort von Touristen aus umliegenden Landesrichtungen wie Frankreich, Italien, Österreich und Deutschland, Durchlaufstelle für die Frauen aus Osteuropa und Umschlagplatz für — alles Mögliche.
Merkmale des Hauptbahnhofs sind die wunderschöné, riesige Halle gegen die Sihlseite hin zum Central mit ihren schönen, schwarz-​weiss gestreiften Wänden aus Marmor und ihren noch viel schöneren (allerdings für Highheelsträgerinnen wegen ihrer Rutschgefahr ziemlich halsbrecherischen) Granitböden.
Die Ladenpassagen im Untergrund, wo übrigens auch das SZU-​Bähnchen Richtung Üetliberg fährt, machen den Hauptbahnhof zu einem der grössten Einkaufszentren der Schweiz. Man nennt das Ganze — Verzeihung — SHOPVILLE. Trotz dämlichem Namen aber eine sehr nützliche Einrichtung: Die Lokale sind zwar alle eher winzig und das Sortiment meistens sehr viel limitierter als jenes in den Hauptfilialen der jeweiligen Läden, aber was sie ausmacht — sie sind OFFEN. Fast immer. Und lang.

Wieviel Züge fahren wohl täglich vom Zürcher HB ab? Wieviele Menschen werden von den einzelnen Zügen ausgespuckt oder eingesaugt? Wieviele von ihnen rempeln sich dabei gegenseitig an und sehen sich trotzdem nicht mal ins Gesicht???
Immer wieder laufe ich durch die grosse schöné Halle, völlig kopflos und mit Scheuklappen. Ich schaue auf den Boden oder auf die grosse Uhr, die vielen als Treffpunkt dient, und könnte nicht einen von denen, die meinen Weg kreuzen, beschreiben… Irgendwann nehme ich mir die Zeit, setze mich an eins der langen Gleise, mit einem Coffe to Go in der Hand und beobachte das Geschehen. Die gehetzten Pendler die zur Arbeit müssen, Pärchen, die sich weinend voneinander verabschieden oder die ‘coolen’ Jugendlichen, die viel reden, dabei aber eigentlich nichts sagen…
An Orten wie diesen, erzählt das Leben Geschichten und das nächste Mal höre ich ihm zu…

–Problème pour lire les panneaux d’horaire des train? Visiter l’opticien
«Visilab» ou le service Information de la gare.
–Mal aux dents? vite au «Zahnärzte Zentrum»
–Bad hair day? le «Hair Spa» sera votre sauveur.
–Oublié de copier un document? hop hop chez «Copy quick»
–Les vacances sont finies? un petit souvenir de l’”Edelweiss Shop”
–Du rouge à lèvres sur le col de chemise? une chemise de chez «Das
Hemd»
–Un problème? j’espère pas mais sinon «Polizei»
–Zut, cassé un talon? l’ami de vos chaussures Mister Minit (pas forcement de votre porte. monnaie)
–Quelques heures à tuer? «Rent-​a-​bike» et hop c’est parti pour un tour à
vélo de Zurich.
–La mer vous manqué? Un cocktail de crevette au «Nordsee»
–La Provence vous manqué? Eaux de toilettes délicieuse et soins de
«L’Occitane»
–Votre jardin vous manqué? Un bouquet du «Blumen 3000» met du
baume au coeur
–Pas vraiment en forme? Remise en forme au «Mac fit»

En plus de tout cela la gare HB est toujours animée! les events se suivent et né se ressemblent pas.: du beach volley à la valse du bal de Vienne.
Les mercredis c’est le marché de spécialités: fruits, légumes, pasta, vin, viande.
La gare est depuis des années en expansion. Le projet actuel «Europaallee» sera réalisé jusqu’en 2012. Il englobe les surfaces qui se trouvent de part et d’autres des voies ferrés, dans les quartiers 4 et 5. Pour plus de détail le site (n’existe qu’en allemand et Anglais)

Züri HB ist für mich der Hauptangelpunkt, wenn ich irgendwohin reise. Ausserdem dienen mir die Geschäfte mir sehr langen Öffnungszeiten oft als ausweg, wenn ich lange arbeiten muss. also tiptop.
