News publications are often tarred with printing sensationalist conjecture, but there’s still the good old local newspaper to keep you grounded and tell you about cats that have been found or a new pond that has received an award. All completely useless and irrelevant information but I’d prefer this to the constant fear induced scaremongering that seem to permeate from many other sources. And after reading ’ news at 3pm will restore your faith’ in my horoscope, a text a 2.54pm revealed my friend had just returned from Cambodia with rum by the bucket load! It may have been 4 minutes out but it did restore my faith.

The world of local newspapers isn’t always the most exciting one. However, the Argus does pretty well in making the world of local news reasonably interesting.
As well as local stories, they run some of the bigger national stories, sometimes putting a local twist on them. There is also a good sports section, with updates on various local teams.
Generally, a decent local resource, although perhaps more of a regional paper than a local one.

This isn’t a newsagent in the standard sense of the word — as all is stocks is the local Brighton & Hove paper, The Argus.
Does offer other services — unsurprisingly all connected to The Argus. If you want to put an advert in the paper, or buy a back issue — then this is the place to go (although I’m sure this can all be done online these days ?)
If you live in Brighton & Hove then it’s almost a certainty that at some point in your life you will have your picture published in The Argus (albeit that my five minutes of fame in there was a picture of me in a quite a tacky bar !) If you go to this branch you can order a copy of the actual photograph taken. It will make your mum so proud … !
