History
Established in 2010.
Two sisters launched Bristol-based Soap Suds with money left to them by their father.
Julie Chiddy, 52, of Ashton Vale and her sister Carol Kingdon, 57, of Highridge, opened Soap Suds on the Wells Road, Totterdown, in June 2010 in memory of their stepfather, Ivor Zarb, who died after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
He left his daughters, whom he had adopted from a young age when he married their mother, an inheritance.
Julie, a receptionist and Carol, an administrator, had always wanted to run their own business but never had the funds. When they spotted a gap in the market for a reliable, high quality, personal and friendly laundry service, they ploughed their inheritance into the shop.
Alongside its busy Totterdown shop, Soap Suds set up a weekly collection and delivery laundry service across many areas of south Bristol, with their van and driver collecting people’s laundry on a regular round, taking it to the shop for washing, drying and ironing and returning the freshly
