Fantastic food, that is very popular with locals. This is always a good sign. The locals in this case being academians. Situated above a book store it is aptly frequented by students in a social environment rather than specificallly for the food. For this reason alone I suggest you not lose any sleep over not visiting the place. They serve mainly comfort food, none worth a great mention. Haviong said that it’s not bad either. It did take me back to my own university times. It’s not actually as long ago as I make it sound. What my reflections do make clear is what a great time it was. A carefree time when lazy afternoons over paninis and coffee pretending to study were an absolute delight. Money seemed to magically appear in the bank account at the start of the term, without much effort being required on my part. After the nights out and other retail therapy you only had enough money left over for places such as this. As great as that was, once that time passes the novelty of such places does the same. So for the majority its not gonna be a place you should go out fo your way to visit.

I’m always hunting for new spots to comfortably read a book or catch up with my friends, and as a University student, Everyman At Blackwells is the perfect location to do this(it’s right in the middle of our campus). Whether I want a coffee, breakfast, lunch or chilled beverage, Blackwells has it all to offer. There’s 10% off for students so lunch doesn’t expend the purse strings too much. As the café is situated above the famous bookshop, you have a great view over the campus as you’re sitting munching(a prime people-watching spot!) The staff are extremely friendly, and overall the atmosphere of the establishment is excellent.

If you’re still haunted by memories of school or University, stay away from Everyman at Blackwell. Situated on the top floor of the academic bookshop, it’s usually bustling with students and teachers quietly pouring over text books or discussing classes with fellow colleagues! If the vibrations of brains quietly humming doesn’t bother you, Everyman is a cute café that stocks a hale and hearty selection of simple breakfast and lunch dishes. Students get 10% off and there’s usually a choice between quiche, pizza, baked potatoes, chilli, soup and salads. There’s also muffins, tray bake cakes, cold drinks, herbal teas and of course, big mugs of coffee to keep everyone fired up and working.

I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who’s not a fan of Everyman food, so this little gem of a café on the top floor of the bookshop is welcome to students and tutors alike, and slightly closer than the Bistro, depending on where you are in the world. Offering soups, baguettes, paninis, cakes and coffees, this is the perfect place to grab a spot of lunch or escape mainstream uni life and have a coffee in peace. As it’s only small,(and in the middle of a bookshop) there’s not a lot of seating, so as the lunch hour tolls, don’t be surprised to see people breaking into a run to get a seat. Ah, I wish I was a student again…
