Absolutely delicious! Amazing food, lovely presentation and fantastic customer service. What a nice discovery, totally recommended. A bit pricey, but worth every penny.

Last night we had the opportunity to check out Amaru for dinner. There were four of us in total and we wanted to check out a new restaurant(in fact, this place was so new that it wasn’t even on Unilocal yet so this is the first time I’ve added a business on Unilocal!). Luckily, Amaru just opened five days ago and they were running a 50% off special on all food — half off the food bill helped make the decision where to go to dinner on a Saturday night! Amaru is located in St. Katherine docks. It’s really easy to get to and within walking distance from Tower Hill/Tower Gateway stations and lots of buses. It’s tucked in the actual marina where the rest of the restaurants are. The first thing I noticed when walking in was this place is really small. In fact, it’s more of a deli/take away style place instead of sit down. We got there early on a Saturday evening, before they properly had their grand opening(they don’t even have a website yet — they’ve got a Twitter account though ) so we were lucky to get a table for four. There are a total of five two-person tables in restaurant with two-four counter seats — so not much space. I’m sure once this place gets established there will be queues for seats so prepare for the wait. As everything was 50% off food we had a proper feast ordering everything on the menu 2−3x. However, as it’s a soft opening they ran out of several dishes and by the end of the evening they ran out of almost everything. I took photos of every single dish we had as well as the desserts. The presentation is great(which is a shame if you get takeaway because they do a great job with presentation) and the food tastes great. Fish is fresh and you get fair portions. Their drinks were good too. We got tea leaves in our tea that came in a pot that had a built in strainer but also a 3-min timer for the ‘perfect’ brew. Our friends got matcha green tea lattes which looked great as well. The desserts were fantastic — again, check out the photos I took… all of them amazing especially the green tea tiramisu! The service was prompt and friendly — we met the owners and the chefs — all really nice which is always good and helps with the vibe of the restaurant. I look forward to trying this place out again!
