A beautiful venue with a slightly unusual layout. The gig we went to everyone decided to sit on the floor around the stage but they also have inbuilt seating around the edge and side. So if that was a regular occurrence you may went to get there early to get a cushioned seat. They also have a nice bar and café downstairs. They have some good bottled beers which doesn’t cost you and arm and a leg. The ciabatta sandwiches were also pretty tasty as a quick snack.(Visit — Evening 25/05/2015)

Further to booking Cecil Sharp house for my sons 2nd birthday party and contracts being signed etc, it would appear the management had second thoughts after the invitations were sent out, apparently due to lack of staffing and subsequently forced us to have to source an alternative venue with minimal time. In my many years of planing various events & parties, I have never experienced such unprofessionalism, added to the fact that we were forced to use their caterers if we wanted warm food who were uncontactable and equally as unprofessional when contact was finally made after 5th time of trying. It may be a nice venue, if someone else has managed to book something and go ahead with it, but I strongly advise against even approaching them for an event of your own, unless you are prepared to be disappointed.

This is a great place if you like folk music and folk dancing! Saw Maz O Connor there last night(if you like folk music I’d recommend checking her out, awesome singer/songwriter). it’s an old stately type house. They have a bar and café downstairs, where they also sell home made snacks(sausage rolls etc). There are a few rooms where they hold folk dancing sessions and other events and then there’s the main hall where the main events are held. As you’d except, everyone is super friendly. It’s close to Camden Town station too. Defo recommend!

I’m only going to this place when its winter and my friend is singing in the choir. I have to say that the café in the basement has improved compared to last year. Nice arrangements of cake and biscuits, very decent pasta and a glass of wine. what more do you need to listen to a choir sing sailor sings. The main room where they were singing has seen better days, but it still in good shape and with £5 entrence fee the whole thing is rather cheap for 1.5 hours of jolly good fun. After the concert everyone is heading to the bar in the basement for alcoholic drinks and more singing.

No ventilation and quick-paced contra dancing made me a very sweaty girl! After about an hour-I was already on a ‘time out’ from all the twirling and passing-someone opened a back door and cooled the hall down a bit. Thank goodness. For further cooling off and a chance to escape the lurking single dudes that may not have only come to the Cecil Sharp House to cut a rug, there’s a café downstairs. Drown your perspiration and hide from others’ desperation in a frosty, cold brew!

Went here to hear a ‘folkie’ style band. It was really hard to find & when i asked for directions nobody knew it or had heard of it. Walked miles the wrong way till i asked the right guy. Its one of the strangest venues i have ever been too. Not much in the way of refreshments but the staff were lovely & i won a bottle of pink champers in the raffle! It was a fun evening and i learnt about Cecil Sharp, who until then i had never heard of.
