Great ciders, incredible pasta and tons of space. I only spent an hour or so here, but loved it and hope to return.

I’m writing this review about the restaurant at this location, not the music Venue, Dingwalls, which is on the same property. This Pub/restaurant is smack in the middle of a major tourist area. One would think that a business that relies on tourists would welcome tourists & treat them with respect. Not this place. We arrived for lunch after having spent the morning shopping nearby. We waited in line at the bar to order food and a few drinks. The bartender was really, really slow. By the time he acknowledged our presence, 15 minutes after we walked in, there was a cue behind us 4 or 5 people long. I told him I wanted 2 orders of fish & chips &2 pints of beer. He asked me where I was sitting, I said I wanted to sit outside on the patio, He asked me what table I was sitting at. I explained I had not yet sat down & I had no table. He told me he needed a table number so they would know where to bring our food. Again, I told him we did not yet have a table. With that, he moved over to the person behind me in line and told me, I’ll wait on you when you get a table! It seems he expected me to lose my place in line, go out to the patio, find a table. come back, wait in line again so I could order & tell him my table number??? All the other pubs I visited gave numbers to the patrons so the customers could be found. But since I was unable & unwilling to do his job for him, I was treated with disrespect & disregarded. I went elswhere & I suggest you do as well. The sad part? I’m a musician who actually played Dingwalls ages ago, before this wise ass kid was out of grade school. Really bad customer service. Steer clear.

It’s the people behind a venue that make it great, agreed? Well in this case, David, Chili, Bubs, and of course Scooby are the pillars of awesomeness that allow Lock 17 to stand.(They subsequently will not be forming a boy-band as I suggested, although I think they would make a killing. Hell, if E17 can do it…) Trying to sort out a massive breakdown in communication regarding press passes for the Camden Crawl, these guys jumped into action and immediately came to our rescue with helpful hands and storage space. They were kind enough to allow Danger Mouse, a man in tight silver lycra and a Pink Gorilla to swarm their bar whenever necessary and were ever patient through far too many«one more last time» visits. I would instantly recommend Lock 17 to anyone spending a long day at the market, or just looking for a central place to meet up and kick back. The upstairs beer garden is an ideal place to sit back, relax, and watch the madness of Camden go by… unless of course you’re wearing a pink gorilla costume, in which case you can enjoy some Magners among your madness.

Maybe im missing somethingBut yesterdays lunch at Lock 17 was truely awful. We all ordered deep fried fishThe meal arrived deep fried but where was the fish.!! We complained and the manager said that no prob and we then ordered burgers which we thought would be a safe option. How wrong were we. The burgers were really poor quality. The buns stale. A small piece of lettuce and coleslawThe manager agreed and even brought the chef over who stood there in silence! We got our money back. We wont be going back there !!

Yeah, it’s touristy, but so what. It’s Camden Town, lots of good beer on tap. It’s racous fun, and you can buy rubber fetish wear just steps from this place in the outdoor swap meet market in the street. What’s not to love?

This place is best in summer evenings, when they have a BBQ outside and you can sit watching the beautiful canal below. Although saying that this place is an excellent choice for smokers, as they have patio heaters in the winter so you can sit in their large outdoor decked space overlooking the canal and bridge. inside, isn’t incredable, but ‘do-able’… they have DJ’s playing in the evening, and they do great three course meals. The Comedy club is also very good with a bunch of mates, and plenty of beer. When you go, ask for Brett the cute South african bar tender!

I once worked for Jongleur’s, and one of the perks of the job was getting those free tickets to see that stand ups perform. Jongleur in Camden town, is located just next to the Camden Lock, it is a perfect location. On Friday and Saturday nights, stand-ups perform, you can not really blame the venue if the night is poor because all the great acts come and perform. It is pot luck really, because I have seen nights that have put me in hysterics, and other nights have put me to sleep. One bit of advise, is that when the show is on, the bar closes, out of respect to the stand-up. So get your drinks in early and perhaps think ahead and get a few, because during the interval, the queue is massive. During the show, you can use the bar upstairs, which has a few sofa’s, you can access it via where you hand in your coats. Every time at Jongleur’s, there has always been a hen night, so it is also popular in that respect. It is great to watch the stand-ups and then in 5 minutes after the show, the place turns into a club and the stage becomes a dance floor. So it does turn into a club afterwards, and if you like stand up, then take a trip!

Had our works christmas party here last year — cost around £30 for a 3 course meal & a nights entertainment, absolute bargain. The food was really good and the staff wer excellent. The acts were quite funny but one or two were a bit close to the mark with a few sketches, but I guess you have to expect that as not all the commedians will be to everyones taste. Well worth a visit

I had great time last night, but it had very little to do with the venue. It has a interesting location. You can see the canal and some of the other bars in the area from the deck(I could even see and hear a fight across the canal). When we got there it was crowded and very hot, and everyone seemed to be pushing everyone else to get through. As the night went on the crowd seemed to dispersed and we managed to get a table. Drinks seemed decently priced, leffe or hoegarden in a bottle at £3.50, or £15 for 7 tequila shots(jose cuervo gold). The music was extremely cheesy and pop like for the most part, but at the same time it was so much fun singing along to really old school Justin Timberlake songs, and when you’ve had your share of alcohol intake it seems like a good idea anyway. Having a good group of girls will keep the stalkers away and your evening entertained.

I often stop in here after a shop in Camden’s Lock Market. In the summer the decking upstairs is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. The bar offers a range of cocktails, good lagers and wines along with a delicious, if slightly expensive menu of burgers and the like. Located right next to the canal, Lock 17 also provides comedy entertainment in the evenings featuring local and not-so-local talent. A good place to go with a bunch of mates but doesn’t particularly wow.

I was actually planning on adding Lock 17 and Jongleurs as 2 different venues — I have been to both in the last week and enjoyed them, but I didn’t realise they were part of the same place(I wasn’t enitrely compus mentis at the time, either time…) Last saturday my friends and I were looking for somewhere that was open late in Camden and where we didn’t have to pay to get in… introducing Lock 17! It is quite a small place, with comfy seats and a small dancefloor. It served its purpose nicely. I went to Jongleurs last week too because my friend’s band was playing there. This part of Middle Yard is a large room perfect for gigs — plenty of different levels to stand on to get a good view of whoever’s playing, cheap drinks and rather nasty toilets.
