Best gym I’ve been to. I quite enjoy working out and fitness and have to say David Lloyd has everything you need. Slightly on the expensive side but you get a good deal getting a year pass and being under 22. With my membership I have access to a pool, sauna, steam, jacuzzi, unlimited classes(eg. Pilates, Spinning), free weight area and treadmills etc. Also I believe I have 1 hour free with a personal trainer a month(which I have only cashed in once). The recently renovated and everything is pristine. There are 3 squat racks(2 win Olympic platforms for deadlifting) so it’s not one of those gyms that skips on proper free weight stuff to appease and not scare people. There’s also a café downstairs and lounge which is great if your waiting for your partner to finish /just want to chill afterwards. The café is no way near as good as Equinox’s as they don’t make anything fresh but they do have a deletion of protein shakes, coffees and they also do a special bullet proof coffee as a pre workout. If you’re looking to get serious about fitness go here.

This is an upscale gym with the better accoutrements … pool, jacuzzi, coffee shop/café, weight and cardio workout rooms, different types of classes, and personal trainers. Because this is one of the more«deluxe» gyms in London, I expected a better selection of cardio and weight machines … there are your typical treadmills, exercycles, ellipticals, and rowing machines but nothing really special. I was looking for the more advanced cardio machines like the Jacob’s Ladder, Versa Climber or the stair stepper that’s more like an actual staircase than pedals, but no. There are also a couple examples of broken equipment that have yet to be fixed in weeks. The staff is helpful and friendly, though the trainers do tend to push you to buy their personal training sessions a bit much. All in all it’s a good all-around gym with your standard range of equipment and classes, and nice facilities. I’m docking it one star for the lack of imagination in the exercise equipment, and would give it 3.5 if I could, but think it deserves a 4 more than 3.

If a gym is not within a 5 minute walk of my bed, I will not go. My previous gym was literally across the street from my house. If I didn’t go for a few days, the guys working in the lobby of the gym would send death glares up to me standing in my kitchen while I shoveled ice cream into my face. So this gym is really close to my flat, hence, I go here, and for that convenience factor, it gets 5 stars. But I’m not 100% sold on the David Lloyd experience. First, they offered some free«personalised exercise advice» when I joined, which I was super excited about. I went once, got my personal exercise program, and got started. But by the time I was due for my first update meeting with her, my personal gym monkey quit or got fired, and my personalised exercise advice disappeared with her. So now I’m back to wandering aimlessly around the free weight area. Also, the yoga classes here generally leave something to be desired. There is one yoga instructor who is very good, but the others are pretty hit or miss. Yes, I’ll keep going, because it’s convenient, but it’s not a knock-your-socks-off kind of gym.
