The chicken banh mi i didn’t taste like banh mi, it tasted like stale baguette and broken promises.

I’ve reviewed EAT before, but a few specific things about this location in particular: 1. Upstairs seating area that many forget exists — go there! Get a flat white! Work! 2. The staff is lovely. I wish we didn’t live in a world where warm displays of humanity are notable, but here goes: I’ve seen a lot of special care given to seniors /customers trying to navigate the small space in a wheel chair. Gives me warm-and-fuzzies before I even order my soup. On that note: …holiday season means«Christmas dinner» soup, which warms up both stomach and soul. Unilocal note: genius points go to the person who decided to sell chunks of mango with fresh wedges of lime at EAT. Peeling mangoes is my Everest, so I’m more than happy to pay for someone to present them to me neatly in a clear plastic pot.

EAT is my favourite sandwich shop chain. I think the soups, baguettes and sandwiches are actually quite nice for this kind of place. I mean, you can’t expect top quality and some of the foods are a bit pricey, but they are better than most of the other chains. Drinks are good as well. Coffee is not my favourite but prices are OK. The best for me is that they do matcha latte and that they don’t charge extra for soya milk, which for lactose intolerant people as me, gives them a lot of extra points. This branch in Notting Hill is a bit small and not better/worse than other branches. A good choice for weekday lunches, quick bites and cheap, not too bad hot drinks.
