The Fourteenth Colonie is a Brooklyn bar, I guess? I’m not sure where the name comes from, but the décor and the menu were all NY, so it is. It’s all wood and steel and a very modern looking spot. We came here for brunch and had a nice lunch for sure. I got some duck hash which was excellent, hash on the bottom, well sauces and two eggs on top. Mmm. Also, you can get bottomless drinks for £15. Now that is an epic deal. I haven’t been back, but I wouldn’t be against it. It’s a cool spot and I’m glad it’s there.

Thanks for charging me £16 for two Campari sodas. Fucking assholes. Even your bartender was embarrassed by the price. The meatball sub and service were really good btw. The people I actually interacted with were all really nice. The only prick here is the owner, who I assume sets the wallet milking drink prices. Go fuck yourself.

This place has so much in its favor, and is a welcome addition to our neighbourhood. I had the«Cuban sandwich», sweet potato fries, the cucumber cocktail and their dark and stormy. The sweet potato fries were the best I’ve had in London, cocktails were truly tasty, service was friendly without being in your face, room is well spaced out, music is really good.(And yes, here it comes)…BUT, this was not a Cuban sandwich. It was a relatively dry pulled pork sandwich on what appears to be store bought sliced bread. You do get two of them though! It was fine for what it was, but no one who has ever eaten a Cubano would dare call it such. I will revisit to try the burger or other such standard fare typical for this area(they offer a fried macaroni & cheese, but after this, I’m really not sure anyone who cooks here has been to any of the places this food comes from). This place had an opportunity to really offer something new. I wish it had. Overall though, solid endeavor. (Side note, I have been disabled this past year and am just trying to get off crutches. As, with many restaurants, this place has a disabled loo but it is locked. Although the waitress helpfully pointed out it existed, without being able to open the door, disabled loos are not so much help. 3 stairs to main loos, but no railing. Let disabled people pee too!!!)

Let’s start with the important things in life: bottomless boozy brunches. BBB, you heard it here. Fourteenth Colonie boasts a potential drunch for you every weekend. Only catch? 2 hour limit. So it’s bottomless for 2 hours, ya drunks! Given my life stage, unfortunately I was NOT here to imbibe on endless mimosas(£15) or bloody marys(£16), but instead was lured in by their child-friendliness(high chair, baby change, not super crowded, nice staff). My, how times have changed. However, whatever tickles your fancy — 14th seems to have it on lock. The menu is nothing fancy, but worthwhile. On the first occasion I enjoyed a 3-egg omelette with a few veggies tossed in and on the second round the avo on toast hit the spot. My husband had the burger and our kid basically consumed anything we put in front of him, so he gives it a rousing nod as well. The coffee was good, the space is bright and open. It’s decidely empty at brunch — so if you’re looking for a chill spot to enjoy some coffee, read a paper, have a nice breakfast, etc — I can highly recommend. Get that boozy brunch and think of me, fair Unilocalers, think of me. For 2 hours!

As a born and bred New Yorker I had very high expectations for this Brooklyn style restaurant. I can say that my expectations were unequivocally met and in several ways exceeded. My wife and I went for brunch on a Sunday morning and arrived to a surprisingly empty restaurant. I was a little wary(even though it was a dreary and rainy London day) but everything was exceptional. My brioche French toast(with bacon and bananas) was outstanding and my wife’s avocado smash was fresh and delicious. The Bloody Mary was perfectly spiced and the waitress even let my wife go off menu for a cold pressed juice of her choosing. I think Fourteenth Colonie had a bit of a rocky start but seems to have recently come into its own. So as it turns out the emptiness was a blessing for us(as we got the full attention of the talented servers). However, I doubt it will be very long before this place is bumping every day like its predecessor, Giant Robot.

The Fourteenth Colonie is a Brooklyn themed bar and restaurant and offers food, beer and wine designed for social sharing, to London. The interior reminds me very much of a quirky loft conversion from an American movie with wooden tables, blue booths and a shabby chic white painted brick wall. All this makes a light, airy, relaxed and contemporary space which I really like. I visited with a group of friends for lunch and found the venue to have a lovely relaxed, casual atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. I had the ‘Shroom’ burger, a deep fried Portabello mushroom with goat cheese, onion marmalade, rocket and garlic aioli which comes with chunky fries and salad which was very tasty. I very much enjoyed my meal at The Fourteenth Colonie in Clerkenwell, the food was delicious and the service was friendly, helpful and patient with the big group of us. I will certainly be happy to visit The Fourteenth Colonie again.

I’d be very surprised if this place were around in a year. And I am sorely disappointed to say that considering the original – Colonie NYC is a well-regarded restaurant in my food mecca of Brooklyn. Too bad a big olé pond stands between them. I was a victim of their teething problems during the soft launch when they were forced to close, forgot to call me, and then didn’t follow up. So when I finally booked in a month later with lots of perks being thrown my way you would have thought that we’d get VIP service. But service just isn’t in the plan at this place. Too few waitresses and busboys(thus the waitress working as a busboy just didn’t work) so we were hailing them down to get any love. Food was a disappointment as well. Very little variety on the menu – starters included three separate and boring crostinis, a very boring gem lettuce salad, and terrines – to the point where we ended up eating a ridiculous amount of toast(which in some cases was burnt). The highlight was clearly the hushpuppies. Same issue with the mains menu – lots of burgers but not much else. And we did try a burger – same lame gem lettuce salad on the side and unremarkable(almost inedible) fries. The highlight was the blood orange and chili margarita. You can go to the bar for that and skip the food. My friend who had been to Giant Robot which was in the space before remarked that little physically had changed. Heartbroken. Hope the Brooklyn management and staff hop over the pond to fix things.

Just what the neighbourhood needed. Came in for Saturday brunch and had some delicious food. We ordered: Mexican hash, french fries, pumpkin waffles, and the breakfast sandwich. To drink — OJ and coffee. Every item was delicious, especially my Mexican hash :) The avocado was so fresh. The service was also excellent — very attentive and super friendly.

Recently opened and still experiencing some teething problems. The cocktails are very much hit and miss — an excellent Gibson, but the Empire State Sour is uniquely dire. Bourbon, ginger and baked apple bitters were all so non-present as flavours they may as well have been left out entirely. It could have been an Apple Juice Sour, and I’d have been none the wiser. We opted for a variety of small plates, which were more miss than hit unfortunately. Roasted beetroot could have just a supermarket packet of ready cooked beetroot. Ricotta crostini was just that — ricotta on toast, and the pigshead terrine was mostly fat. The best parts were the pickled green beans as an accompaniment to the charcuterie, and a sticky date cake dessert which was so startlingly sublime it could well have been summoned from another dimension when contrasted against everything else. I’ll give it another shot as it’s local, and they’ll need more time to figure things out, plus their brunch menu looks promising, but for now two stars feels almost generous.
