Garufin is the first joint venture from Argentine trio Alberto Abbate, Gustavo Vazquez and Ernesto Paiva. The three came together through a shared passion for food and wine, but more importantly the food and wine of their homeland and a desire to let London in on their secret.
Alberto is the man behind a string of successful Argentinian restaurants in the capital, including Santa Maria del Sur, Casa Malevo, Moo Grill and Garufa.
Gustavo started his career in Buenos Aires aged 17 and by 19 had opened his own bar there. His passion for wine led to a job in London selling Argentine wines to restaurants, which in turn introduced him to Alberto. They opened Garufa together in 2008.
For their latest project, their search for a chef with a passion and a deep understanding of Argentina’s diverse culinary background led them to Executive Chef Ernesto Paiva.
