Steak is my absolute fav. A good steak, cooked to perfection with some veggies on the sides — I am your slave for life. I have had steak in many places, hated some, liked most, but rarely enjoyed them. This place is where I was very close to enjoying my meat. The whole place is small but well presented. The food itself is very well presented. A proper steak experience. For all you Gaucho lovers in London, if you want to ding the bling and bother only about the food and quality of service, get to this place.

Excellent steaks! At our table, we had Ancho(ribeye) and Lomo(filet) and both were truly excellent. Beautiful steaks and perfectly cooked. That’s enough to get a high rating for a steak place, imho. Alongside the steaks we had Salmon Tiradito and the Sausage Platter. Both were delicious and the sausage certainly seemed to be authentically homemade. All paired with a Chilean cabernet(don’t recall the label) meant a top-notch experience. Thanks Bull Steak Expert!

Stumpled upon this place on a very cold winter night. Beautifully done steak. Meat was high quality and very flavorful from the aging process. Staff knows how each steak cut can be cooked for best flavor. Good list of Malbec. Friendly staff as well. Will definitely go back next time. Get the Chorizo appetizer as well. Sweet potato fries and spinach sides were also yummy too.

What a great little find!!! A small and discrete restaurant well worth a visit. The décor is pleasant and the atmosphere calm. The menu has a varied range of choices and the service is excellent. The beef empanada is a fantastic starter. The corn empanada is better avoided. Would love to have tried the sausage plate… For mains, Ribeye steak was cooked excellently; a bit salty but otherwise very fine. The sweet potato«chips» are very chunky. A shame they don’t do more Argentinian cuts like vacio and that there is no Asado style kitchen to see. This place doesn’t deserve to end on a constructive comment so I’ll remind myself about the great service!

Came across The Bull Steak Expert as I was craving a nice piece of Argentinian steak. I get this craving at least once a month, and having been spoiled by Tango Sur a la Chicago, my standards were high. This is where my Unilocal addiction becomes handy. Location wise, it’s on a cute street in the middle of Russell Square/Holborn Area, nice area to walk around pre and post– meal. The restaurant’s interior was nice, and we were seated on the first floor(I believe they have a basement as well but did not see that area). We were greeted and seated quickly(booked via Unilocal of course). It is quite a romantic atmosphere, acoustics could be better though, as I heard everyone except the person I was sitting across to. Starters: Empanadas came quickly, and were very tasty. I was a bit confused as to why the Cheese and Corn one was much bigger in size than the ground beef one, I am used to them being the same. The pastry is just as important to me as the filling, and theirs did not disappoint. Dough was able to hold on its own, being nice and flaky, but complemented the filling quite nicely. I liked both, but my friend preferred the beef version. We also received starters compliments of the chef. A lightly seasoned aubergine salad. Nice touch. Main: I went with the 300G Ancho(Ribeye), Medium, with a side of Gamba. I ordered baked potato as as side as well. Serving size is standard, although I have seen much larger cuts of meat elsewhere with same quality and price. However, for my first Argentinian steak experience in London, this was delicious. It was cooked to perfection. There was fat, but not too much; it had the perfect amount to provide a beautiful flavour that made me smile from ear to ear. I was in meat heaven! Had a bottle of Malbec(don’t remember which one though, sorry!) that complemented it nicely. Main 2: My friend went with the Steak and Lobster. This included a 250G Lomo(fillet), and lobster tail. His side was sweet potato fries… the SPF were so good! I half-wished I had ordered these instead of my baked potato. As for his steak, I had a bite and I thought it was quite flavourful for a fillet and the lobster tail, how can you go wrong? Dessert: We had chocolate cake topped with a banana ice cream and Dolce de Leche. Chocolate cake was a bit dry, and I was expecting some sort of soft filling, but not so much. It was still good though, just not worth the most expensive price tag on the dessert menu. Overall: Loved it, try it out =)

The place is pleasant to sit and the food is ok but not more We ordered ribeye 400g and sirloin 300g and they were not bad but far from excellent We ordered a few sides, a gin-tonic and a glass of wine and the bill came to 130£ I expected more… For this kind of money i could go to Goodman with superior meat and cooked to perfection… To summarise, the experience was not worth the money paid !

This is more than a restaurant, it’s an experience in how dining should be. When you arrive you are greeted by the very friendly staff who will tell you all about the menu and(if you want) advise you on your choice of steak. We went with their advice and were blown away by the taste and quality of our meal. I’ve always liked a steak but I genuinely had no idea it could taste that good! The starters, desert and wine were also superb. To put it simply, dining at The Bull wasn’t just the best steak I’ve ever had, it was also the best MEAL I’ve ever had! It is on the pricey side but it’s worth every penny and is great for a special occasion. Just go there man.

Went there a couple of nights ago and it was absolutely wonderful. One of the best dinners we’d ever had, I could talk about the great atmosphere and the knowledgeable staff and all that but really it was the food that was really outstanding. I had the chicken dinner and it was amazing and my brother had the ribs which were also excellent. I extremely recommend the sticky toffee pudding, it was probably one of the top 5 best deserts I’d ever eaten in my life!

London has an overwhelming number of choices. We picked this place based on a limited number of Unilocal reviews and proximity to where we were at dinner time. SO glad we did. While expensive(but then, so is London) the food was great. We were warmly greeted on arrival and expertly served. I had the 400 gm rib-eye. My wife had the 300 gm sirloin. Both were aged and cooked to perfection. Good selection of house wines by the glass. We both ordered our steaks with optional sauces — hers — an herb butter, mine a chimichurri. Enjoyed both, but steaks were so good we didn’t really need them. Sweet potato«chips» were plentiful for two to share and very good. The side that really impressed us was humitas, a corn/herbs/cheese dish steamed in a corn husk — kind of a corn tamale. Soon as I got home, I looked up how to make it … it’s going into my recipe book! All around great dinner!

One of my favorite restaurants in London — the waiter is knowledgeable about all aspects of Argentine cuisine and meat variations, to the letter. Matches sides with different cuts and sauces. I’ve eaten at many of these kinds of restaurants around the world, the chef is a maestro. You can’t do better for steak in London, and the ambience is perfect. Great service, pleasant staff: definitely five stars and I’m critical of everything.

We’ve visited around 3 times and everytime it was fantastic. The service was amazing too — the waitress even remembered that I didn’t like lemon in my water and prepared it for me accordingly! Steaks were tender and delicious, both for my partner, a true meat lover, and myself.

We had booked to go to the Hawksmoor for out anniversary, but on the advice of a colleague we visited this unassuming tastefully decorated little place. After a few moments it became evident that this place was a master of its trade and as each course came out it took us further on our journey throughout a wonderful cuisine. I feel bad even considering calling our server a waitress– she was more like a guide and hostess. Friendly but professional she gave her recommendations when asked(and didn’t push then on you in the style of some Gaucho employees) and engaged in the perfect amount of chat– learning was our anniversary in a non overbearing way and presenting us with complimentary desert wine and congratulations was the icing on the cake of a wonderful dining experience. All the food was incredible, with evident affection quality and authenticity put into every touch. A top notch classy place with an intimate feel and that something special. The price makes this somewhat of a treat meal for most, but when we thanked our hostess and shared a kiss on both cheeks it felt perfectly natural as if eating everywhere should be this much of a pleasure! We will definitely be going back!

Needed somewhere to eat, hadn’t reserved, was in the area. Dropped in about 7.15pm on a Wednesday and was told that they had two reservations for 7.30pm and 7.45pm but they could call me if one of them failed to show and to their credit they actually did. Good start. I ordered a lomo and chips, my father had a cuadril and salad, and avoiding the temptations of some of the winelist we shared a bottle of ‘house Malbec’(£22 iirc, and excellent). All arrived in a reasonable time and all I can say is that everything was simply superb: steaks juicy and cooked as requested, chips crispy and volcanically hot, varied and generously-sized salad. When there is absolutely nothing wrong, what else can you say? Just two tiny iffy notes, neither of which spoiled the meal at all. Firstly, we didn’t really like the stewed aubergine(freebie) starter: next time I’ll order empanadas. Secondly, I was slightly peeved by the waitress continually re-filling our wine glasses. Believe me, I can do that myself, so please stop it. I will be back though!

This place can’t get any better. My family had been here before and raved about it so it was only expected that we would come again. Mind you we were coming from Oslo Norway so this place has to be good for us to crave it from all the way up there! Concept is simple, they have some starters and then a plethora of options for what type of steak you want, sauce and side dishes. The woman who owns the restaurant was amazing. She came out and explained absolutely everything, she recommended wine, what side dishes would be best for the specific cut of meat and which sauce we would love. We all ordered a different dish so that we could all sample each others, which was genius. The place is still working through word of mouth and the atmosphere inside is quaint and lovely. I have to say the service was outstanding, it matched the quality of food and the dedication they have put into this wonderful restaurant. Now if only I could convince the owner to move to Norway.

Three of us got the 300g sirloin of varying cookedness, all of which were delicious. Someone else got the lamb but the cutlets looked pretty puny in comparison to our tombstone-like slabs of glorious cow. The sides and sauces were good: corn on the cob, roasted veg, chips, Béarnaise and mushroom sauces, all present and accounted for. The desserts were great too, especially the passion fruit mousse which I now wished I’d gotten instead of the dulce de leche flan so I didn’t have to steal it off someone else’s plate(although it was still every eatable). We were there quite early, and the waitresses, although very lovely, were not particularly busy at this point of service, and they congregated around the bar near our table which was a little off-putting. Also walking downstairs to the toilet is like trying to dismount a particularly furry long-haired panther, the carpet pile so thick you almost lose your footing going down. A minor thing I know but I would prefer journeys to the bathroom to be both less adventurous and less feline.

Hi Meat lovers, If your reading this review, you are a meat lover and your looking for your next great experience. Not even sure I want to talk about this place, I’m afraid it will go mainstream and I won’t be able to find a table next time. I’ve been to meat cities all over and there are a few places that can prepare and serve such delicious tasteful steaks. Ruth and her team of ladies are the bomb, I mean where else do you see a waitress prepare a Don Pedro(Dessert) with her hands and stir the ice cream and mix it with such dedication to make the perfect mix of liquor and ice cream. This is not a cheap place by all means, but how could it be, it’s worth every penny, I am making it my weekly treat to celebrate life. Wine list is very good and meat oriented as it should. Finally I have to thank Ruth and her team for the wonderful experience they provided for me and my family, you guys are truly a blessing, looking forward to see you guys soon. PS: I am not forgetting the hidden gem in this restaurant, the CHEF, so Chef we didnt meat you, but we enjoyed everything you prepared for us, also it’s like we know you because Ruth gave us your pedigree and well what else can we say then that it was an honor to enjoy your food, you are a Meat Master! Thank you. Cristian and Familia

As a self-confessed carnivore, I do tend to have a fondness for Argentinian cuisine(amongst others!). In recent years the small Gaucho’s chain has become somewhat of a default choice for Argentinian cuisine in London, and I have no particular beef — pun intended — with that. But I also continue to seek alternatives, and this small establishment, located in a side-street a little way from the more trafficed areas of Holborn, is a very worthwhile addition to my list. The steaks are good, well prepared and well presented, the service good, knowledgable and friendly, and the wine list inclues plenty of Argentinian options, although of course the focus is on steak-friendly Malbecs.
