Great little local. Went there for someones birthday night on a live music night. Jazz-y blues. Fun! Small but interesting and the bar manager flirts with you with his long bendy straws. no really… he’s great. :) Haven’t had the food yet but the drinks were great and just got a good vibe coming from the wide variety of clientele. Definitely coming back when in the area I think.

I had been going to this pub for about 4 years now as it is my local. It is in a great location for people watching(with many benches outside) and you get the odd celebrity in here… :-)… however the pub has been going downhill and the owner really has sucked all the atmosphere. It is my closest pub, but no longer my local. Head to the Garden Gate for a great pub in this area…

On walking into the Haverstock Arms it was undeniably an old mans pub. Horse racing on the plasma screens tend to give this away. Undeterred I continued towarda the bar in search of food. My momentary uncomfortable feeling was replaced with euphoria as I spied a full Thai menu to choose from. Even better than that, the smiley bartender pointed out the lunch time special of starter and main for £6.95. Bargain! I ordered up chicken Satay a beef Pad Thai and sat relaxing in the small restaurant area to the side that somehow felt removed from the old man’ish main bar. I had another pleasant shock as I spied a small cocktail menu housing drinks straight from the 80’s. One of the more contemporary drinks on this list is without doubt the dancing queen of the disco cocktail. Let me introduce you to The Fat Frog — Smirmoff Ice, Blue WKD and Orange Bacardi Breezer. WTF! I feel like I am back in Morecambe with drinks like that. In short order my food arrived. My chicken satay and Pad Thai were on the same plate, but that was fine by me. Both were delicious, the chicken was tender an the Pad Thai was nutty and tasty and came as a decent portion. Overall this cosy bar warmed on me the longer I stayed. With benches outside and a well stocked bar and kitchen, I may not spend my evenings here, but I’ll certainly be back for lunch. P. s. I was just about to leave when a little Thai lady popped out to take my plate whilst also asking me why I was leaving before I got my lunch menu special free ice-cream. Life is so hard sometimes. He he!

One of the better pubs in the area. Does a good selection of ales, including one I had never seen before called Seafarer. The staff seemed friendly. You can watch the football on a big screen but it doesn’t seem to intrude to much on the pub which is perfect if, like me, you like sportbut not all the time. From what I have seen on the internet you can actually stay here, like a b & b or something, but I didn’t notice anything that indicated that at the time.

Has proper beer,(Pride and Adnams etc), and 3 screens capable of having different football or rugby matches on at the same time!!! Great pub if you enjoy watching sport. Food’s not bad either.
