I came here for a leaving do with joint christmas drinks. It is a really nice pub. I like the layout which is quite spacious. There is a smoking area in the back. I was with a group of 20 odd and they catered well to the size. The drinks are nice, I didn’t have any cocktails just vodka and coke. I did get some food, I got the Fish Burger with Sweet Potato Fries and it was really nice burger, the bun was toasted and the fish burger was well cooked, the tartare sauce was really nice and tangy. The sweet potato fries could have been more crispy as they were too soft in my opinion. I would come back here and I’m sure I will enjoy it as I did this time.

This pub changed my perception of the pub food. I don’t normally visit pubs, but we had wonderful lunch twice(May and 2 weeks ago) at this beautiful pub. Their cooking standard was excellent and the service was very friendly. We had excellent Cod & Chips and Cheese & Bacon Burger. Cod had thin crispy batter, was not greasy at all, was flaky and very tasty. Chips were cooked to perfection — crunchy outside and fluffy inside(on our second visit recently, they were a bit greasy). Mushy Peas were flavourful and tasty(on our recent visit, they did not have it, and we ended up with boring garden peas). Sweet Potato Fries were just divine. Burger was flawless and was char-grilled to perfection. It had wonderful smoky flavour and was absolutely tasty. The brioche bun was fresh and flavoursome. This will put other burger chains to shame. They had comfortable chair and sofas, so you can spend hours just eating, drinking, chatting, and sitting around. What a perfect place to have lunch at the weekend(we went on two Saturdays).

After a long walk on Hampstead Health we went for a lovely meal at The George. If you want superb pub food you should really try this place. I chose a succulent burger with sweet potatoe fries. Absolutely wonderful. It couldn’t have been any better. My friend had fish and chips. Again an excellent standard. Great chunky chips with the fish which was in crunchy batter. The mushy peas were good too. Cool décor and good food and very nice combination.

Quite a nice pub with a good wine list and a nice menu. Pretty good vibe on most nights with a spacious garden out back. Being close to the Royal Free Hospital it’s usually populated by nurses and doctors, and is likely to be busy at any hour of the day. Pub quiz on a Tuesday night is good fun.

Really impressed with the refurbishment here. Much brighter and more inviting. Friendly service and good food. Only come here after hospital(so hopefully not too often!) but worth a visit. Was fairly empty when we came by but should be able to handle good sized groups as well.

Came for Burns night supper, delicious four course meal finished off with a 15 year old malt for a reasonable £25. Starting with a muffin topped with smoked salmon and spinach with hollandaise sauce(there was suppose to be a poached egg too, but I don’t like them), followed by haggis with mashed neeps and carrots in a gravy, then venison with roasted carrots and mashed potato in a gravy. Finished off with a chocolate tart with a whiskey cream and a 15 year old malt. The food was tasty, never having had haggis before it is a very rich taste don’t think I could eat a lot of it by itself, but it goes really well with the neeps and carrots. The portions were a good size and by the end of the fourth course I couldn’t eat another thing, even trying to squeeze the whiskey in was a challenge. The venue was really nice, cosy warm and friendly. The service was great and I would definitely come back here again for another meal. They seem to have various offers on and set menus on a regular basis.

Came here with some Scotch friends for the Burns’ Night dinner tonight. The four course meal was great value and much bigger portions than we expected! This was the first time I’d tried haggis and I do wish I’d had a smaller slab, but anyone who loves it would have been more than happy. The first starter of a muffin topped with Scottish smoked salmon and poached egg(essentially eggs royale) was my favourite course by far. The other two courses were venison and a chocolate tart, plus a complimentary whisky. Had a great time and looks like they do these special event menus quite often, so will definitely be coming again!

I came for their Monday night pub quiz, and ended up on a winning team! As I have never won a pub quiz before I guess that this could bias my opinion however the truth is that once I had tasted the rekorderlig passionfruit I was sold on the place. I loved the feel of the bar, roomy and comfortable, and it is just a relaxed place to be. There was a wide selection of drinks, plenty to choose from, and the service was great. I never waited long to be served despite it being very busy during the quiz breaks, and the staff were all really friendly. The food looked great although I didn’t try any so can’t comment on the taste. I will definitely be going back, and not just in order to defend my title on the quiz

There is absolutely no reason that this should be rated 2 stars in my opinion. My 8 year old son and I were walking back to St. John’s wood from Hampstead Heath and found this pub. What a pleasant surprise. I had the Sunday roast and he had a kids burger-both we’re excellent. We sat at the bar and the servers were friendly and speedy by London standards. I actually wish this pub were close to home as I thought the menu was quite good and really liked the vibe. I would actually give it 5 stars to balance out the other review but honestly it’s a solid 4 star pub… in my opinion of course:)

Not sure what pub the other reviewer went to but We have lived in Hampstead for almost 10 years now and we quite often walk from home down to Camden and back and have not once stopped in here because of how loud the TVs always are. So last night, 31st Aug 2012, we were out on a walk and decided we would stop in here for a quick one. This review is my opinion and based on it as a pub review. Be warned, this is not a traditional pub, although the layout would suggest it is. In fact, it’s more of a sports bar. We walked in and the lighting in here is horrible. I think they had every light turned on. And if there were a dimmer switch, it was on high. And this was around 8.30pm. There are at least five yes 5 TVs in here showing different sports on every screen. And whatever they deemed as the main game iit was turned up really loud pouring out of all the speakers. There are also two pool tables. They have a small garden out back that could use some attention. So the quick one turned into a really quick one. If you’re looking for a traditional pub, this is not it. If you’re looking for a sports bar, you’re in luck. Really a shame, as there are no pubs on Haverstock Hill anymore unless you want to walk down to Steeles or The Hill. Quite sad.

This is quite a traditional English pub set in a nice part of Belsize Park. A short distance away from the tube station, it is easy to get to, and seems one of the nicer pubs in the area. The layout is quite nice, although could be a little cramped at times depending on how busy it is on the night. The clientele varies, but when I wad there, it seemed to be full of young professionals who were enjoying an after work pint. That said, the pints on offer were quite a good range(though they don’t serve my staple Guinness), and relatively well priced for the area. If you find yourself in Belsize Park and a little thirsty, it’s a nice little pub to go for a pint or two.

Not one of my favourites but it does the job. Besides, the next pub over is about a 10 minute walk. The George is a great place to watch games as the pub boasts several flat screen TVs all around. Sadly I can’t think of any other occassion to come around here otherwise.
