I recommend this sandwich bar because: 1) Staff are fluent in English 2) Sandwiches are awesome 3) Prices are reasonable 4) Makes a pleasant change from Pret round the corner 5) Welcoming atmosphere 6) Big selection — both fillings and bread

That five star review from me is based on value. £1.60 for a filled bagel? In London? Amazing. I tend to go for turkey, all the salad and coleslaw. I think the coleslaw takes it up to £1.85, but you’re still doing amazingly.

This hole-in-the-wall type place, just opposite my office, is a favourite lunch time spot of many colleagues. I work with a lot of ‘real’ men. You know, engineering types. Hard hats, steel boots and worked on the railways for 20 years. That type of man. The type who wouldn’t be seen dead in EAT or Pret tucking into an artisan baguette, let alone a Phở soup pot. For these men, this is lunchtime mecca. Sausage, beans and chips, jacket potatoes, bacon sandwiches and a simple menu that they can all just about read. I like it because they do takeaway toast and bagels in the morning and use skippy peanut butter. Their sandwiches are more expensive and not as tasty as the offerings over the road at EAT, but they do serve a mean hot lunch.
