Easily missed karaōke bar right in the middle of Soho — it’s a plainish wooden doorway between two packed bars then follow the stairs down to the private room. The Good: it’s completely unpretentious. Just a single, slightly grubby room with a bar, a performance area and some sofas(not that anyone sat down). And yes, I said performance area — there’s a proper wooden-floored staging area to rock out your moment in the spotlight. Awesome. Also very reasonably priced if you have a big enough group, with just a minimum spend on drinks and no eyewatering room hire charge that regular London karaokers will be familiar with. The Bad: SUCH a shame but the actual karaōke machine is… kinda pants :( The touchscreen doesn’t respond properly to touch — you need to use a little stylus stick(that they gave us halfway through), plus half the songs we chose showed a blank screen instead of words. Admittedly we all have a couple of classics you don’t need the lyrics for but that strikes me as a pretty major flaw! Other headache is that you can’t search by song, nor skip to artist without scrolling through all the artists beginning with the same letter. Cue major frustration. Oh, it also didn’t have A Little Respect(by Erasure or Wheatus) which was almost unforgiveable on its own(along with some of my other staple song faves!). If the karaōke is a side act then you might be ok for a party but otherwise serious karaokers beware. Here’s hoping they sort the machine out soon — cheap karaōke is such a rarity in central London!
