History

Established in 1975.

Leiths School of Food and Wine is the most prestigious and respected cookery school in the country. Established in 1975 by Prue Leith and Caroline Waldegrave, it is now owned by Sir Christopher Bland. The Directors are Caroline Waldegrave and Sir Christopher Bland. The Managing Director is Camilla Schneideman. Leiths provides professional training for career cooks; short courses for amateurs; corporate team building evenings; recruits cooks for short or long-​term appointments; and produces a number of cookery books on a variety of topics. The School provides comprehensive theoretical and practical teaching, qualifying students to enter the highly competitive food and wine business and begin a rewarding career. There is a commitment to classical techniques and methods, but with a fresh modern approach.

Meet the Manager

Camilla S.

Manager

A trained chef, cookery teacher, professional caterer and food consultant, Camilla has a wide knowledge and understanding of the food industry. She trained at Leiths School of Food and Wine and has put her expertise and passion to use in the food world for over 16 years. Much of her inspiration comes from working and living abroad in New Zealand and Spain. Her restaurant experience includes working with Peter Gordon and The Sugar Club. In 2002 she set up, from scratch, the successful Divertimenti Café and Divertimenti Cookery School, and more recently the Lemon Tree Cookery School. Camilla is also a food writer and her book, The Divertimenti Cookbook, was published in 2007. Camilla has made several TV appearances including Great Food Live, Great Food Bites, Food Uncut (UKTV Food) and the 2006 series Taste. Camilla took over as Managing Director of Leiths in 2008.
