Decent selection and store size squeezed into all the glamour on the Strand.

Similar to a mini CVS or Rite Aide in the USA. Went here to grab a quick breakfast on the go before business meeting(scone and juice). It’s a small location and quite busy, but it got the job done. Don’t half step. They actually have fresh pastries that are quite good.

In this Sainsbury’s supermarket there are self checkout stations. As Mindy H. wrote and well explained in her review about Migros MMM in Nyon, you can scan your items with a self checkout machine. You scan the bar code and then put the items into your basket. You have to remove them from the scanner before you pay. Choose the payment options: Card or cash. Then pay the amount indicated on the screen. It’s easy and practical! If you don’t know how to use the machine, the staff will help you out.

Small food and drinks for the dinner, spending just some minutes at sainsbury. And what a surprise ! I learned about new cash system, which I’ve never seen before: putting each piece of food into cash system and at the end the receipt came out of cash system putting the money into cash system and I left the shop. without a cashier. This was training on the job.

This particular branch is really good, as it is in a nice location and is fairly large for a city center supermarket. There is a deli that sells ready-made hot food, which is great for lunches. Very unfortunately, however, they close very early at something like 6pm, making the usefulness of this branch a bit limited. For the big Sainsburys branches, the comparison to Target(USA) is not completely correct. Target mostly sells home goods, with a section for food. Sainsburys mostly sells food, with a section for home goods like clothes and electronics.

I yearn for a Sainsbury’s here in America. The closest comparison I could get would be Target, and seeing as how I luuuurve Target that’s a pretty big statement. However, Sainsburys just might be better. Seriously. Great selection of food, huge variety, ready to eat foods, a cash exchange(offering the best exchange rate to this Yank $ 1.73 to the pound), clothing, housewares and even TVs! Plus tons of personal checkouts and good prices. Dear Sainsbury’s, please move to America.

Round the corner from work this is so handy for me as i often pop in at lunchtimes or after work to get the essentials. They have a big sandwhich range which includes wraps and sarnies with the usual fillings such as tuna and mayo, chicken salads as well as smoothies and bottled water. Useful and like most sainsburys offers the same services as other stores. the staff are decent here. gets really really busy though at lunchtimes which is annoying because the ques are long but otherwise useful. use the nectar card to collect points everytime you shop which you can spend on reducing your shopping bill or spend at Argos of Nuffield health centres(formerly cannons). 500 of points gives you £2.50 off Argos. handy!
