Tapped & Packed

This place is consistently my favourite place to grab a coffee and a light bite in the city.
Décor
Simple décor with low-​hanging lights over the table that make a small space feel really personal. Can be busy at times though due to limited seating, so plan around peak hours.
Coffee
Do yourself a favour. Just order an americano. No milk. No sugar. No disappointment. The coffee here is packed with flavour. It’s not bitter and it’s not dry. It’s the perfect refreshment.
Food
Also a great place for a light lunch. Fresh, homemade sandwiches and salads every day. Variety of fillings and breads (it’s so nice to have good bread for a change) and only a little more expensive than a tesco sandwich. But the quality is obviously much higher.
Lastly the store also sells packets of the beans they use in their coffee. So if you’re a home brew kind of person I recommend grabbing a pack here to take home.

The coffee here is really nice, especially their Kenyan filter coffee! Not a great place to study though– it’s quite small with only six or seven small tables, and very busy. Their cakes and breads are good, made (delivered) fresh each morning. The cakes menu changes daily, but I had a chocolate and almond brownie. I’d come around 4pm, so I think it had gone slightly dry by then, but the flavours were quite nice!

Coffees are really good (had some lattes and a v60), service friendly, but the pastries were a major letdown. Serious improvement needed here and then all will be good.

It’s quite small, but not cosy. Hits the ‘cool’ button but for me didn’t deliver. Coffee is over priced and not to my taste. Probably because the soy milk isn’t bonsoy. So it’s not good for vegans. Although the food does look delicious! I would come back to get food (to go) I think it could be a bit warmer and more inviting… Maybe door closed to keep the heat in and noise and pollution out.

This place was pretty good! There is free wifi, drip coffee, and a super friendly staff. In addition to my black coffee, as per the barista’s suggestion I had an earl grey cake, and it was absolutely amazing. It was a perfect blend of sweetness with Earl Grey taste with a rich buttery-​ness that made it quite filling. Their coffee blends are very expansive — there were so many options though I just stuck with the house blend.
My only complaint is the lack of outlets — I didn’t see any at any of the tables. Therefore, I would recommend Tapped & Packed for a meeting. There is a nice ambiance, and it wasn’t too loud.

Best coffee near ucl. Their espresso blend is great. I haven’t tried any of the single origins so can’t say anything about that.

Friendly baristas. I tried the Ethiopian and Burundi — perfect balance of acidity, fruitiness and smokiness. We liked it so much that we purchased a bag of beans!

Really really good coffee place. Awesome ambience, very friendly staff. Absolutely top notched latte.

I absolutely love this place.
The cappuccinos are great, this was my standard stop by for an afternoon pick-​me-​up at my last job. I brought my parents here for some filter coffee while they were in town, and it was absolutely amazing!
Also, they have amazing lunch food. The sandwiches are good, but I usually get the salad and quiche combo. They are both all vegetarian (so you feel like you’re being healthy), and they have a great selection of different types of salads that you can mix and match to take away and eat outside (although they do have tables so you can eat in as well). I’m always drooling over the cookies and cakes, but I try to be good and avoid buying them.
The staff is always friendly, and since I go so often, many of them are friendly and chatty with me when I come in. I can’t recommend it enough.

Best coffee shop close to UCL. Everything is quite minimalist: very clean space, simple menu with rotating coffee bean choices, some baked goods and lunch options, about 6 tables with double chairs. Ive had better coffees here than Kaffeine (which is far more busy usually) but not the best in London. All the staff are very friendly as well :)

These guys are really knowledgeable about their coffee and they take it seriously, even matching the correct water to the coffee. I would highly recommend they even manged to convert me and normally I’m a milk n sugar builders tea kinda girl.

Long time customer at the other locations of Tap but had the pleasure of visiting this one a few times in the past weeks. The concept is very similar to the other ones so specialty coffee, roasted by themselves and then expertly prepared in the café. Always three different hand brews available in addition to the espresso based beverages. They roast fairly light to bring out the unique flavors of each coffee and they do it really well.
The food serves is also nice but typical café food so mainly salads, sandwiches, pastries and yogurt but all good quality. They also offer free wifi so ticks a lot of boxes for me. Do also pick up the cute loyalty card (the 7^th coffee for free). The staff here are also friendly so will be high on my list of cafes when I am in this area of town.
Drawbacks is that the space is fairly small so may not always be easy to find a seat but they do take out as well.

They don’t do a lot but what they do they do well. I had a latte and some banana bread, both very good. The coffee seemed rather strong as well — perhaps stick to the one if you’re sensitive.
I also really like the décor — very minimal but still comfortable.

Coffee is good, but overall experience is what sets it apart. This location is really neat, the staff is incredibly friendly and their muesli with yogurt and fruit is my new favorite breakfast item.

Amazing, the coffee is now so strong, that my friend had the sweats by lunchtime after (admittedly, yes) two coffees for breakfast this morning. That loyalty card still gets me smiling every time, and you only need 6 times worth of homage here to get the seventh free… it definitely the details that make this place special, water comes in iced Bön Mamam jam jars, ker-​ching etc etc…

Beautiful interior: steampunky and all that, with lots of cleverclogs curlicues in the piping, but really the thing is the coffee, which is on par with the new wave of coffeebars filling Lonodn with lovely goodness (I’m looking at you, Flat White and Federation Coffee, among others)

A really lovely atmosphere, especially on this less-​than-​lovely stretch of Tottenham Court Road. I’m one of the many students who wander about in this area and I appreciate a beautiful, non-​chain alternative to the uni café or the local Starbucks.
The coffees are all in order, if a tad pricey — worth it for the atmosphere. The cakes are a bit hit or miss — go for the lemon and poppyseed, skip the carrot cake. The teas are served with adorable souvenir teaspoons from around the UK (see the image I posted) — reminds me of having tea at my my grandmother’s who also collected these odd little things.
Mostly, though, I just really dig the inside of this place. Minimalist, neat, warm, welcoming. Staff are lovely. And you can watch the businessmen and students hurry by on Tottenham Court Road while you sit and sip your tea and read the Guardian left behind by a considerate customer.

The new Tapped & Packed on TCR has opened its doors for business — and it’s a beaut.
Only a stone’s throw (… or perhaps a small catapult) away from its older sister coffee shop on Rathbone Place, the new café has a strangely familiar, but still altogether different, vibe.
Sitting on a corner site near-​ish Warren Street tube, the interiors are nicely done — the shop footprint has given the owners less space to play around with but the whole place seems so open thanks to a double-​height ceiling and huge windows on two sides. The pared-​down effect fixtures and fittings are very similar to the original T&P, from the surfaces and tables down to the awesome little spoons.
The baristas are as talented as ever; an early morning pour-​over training session was being held to ensure coffee as good as you’d come to expect in the area. The offerings are as before, filter coffees taking to the stage alongside (as opposed to acting as a supporting cast to) the usually more ubiquitous espresso-​based versions.
I ordered a flat white and some banana bread (which although not as accomplished a breakfast item as Kaffeine’s dreamy toasted wonder) was still lovely. I followed this with an espresso on my way out, and although I didn’t enquire as to the beans used, it was gorgeous — powerfully fruity with hints of chocolate and raspberries.
The place also lays claim to what I believe must be the coolest water tap in London (nay, the UK… or even Europe — possibly the World?!). Ask for a glass and the barista will hand you a small frosted duralex number and point you towards the source — a very fine, looped copper pipe with a mini-​red US firefighter style red handle on it. The water comes out at room temperature, which is the reason for keeping the glasses chilled I suppose, but it adds a level of quirky fun to an already excellent coffee shop.
I guess I can only curse my misfortune for having moved out of the area (having lived at 72 TCR — so close!!) and am therefore unable to call this my local coffee house — but with friends still in the area I have an excuse to frequent this place more than could ever be deemed neccessary!
⁵⁄₅ is a no-​brainer — roll up, order a perfectly-​made coffee from one of the friendly baristas and snicker at the blissfully ignorant pedestrians strolling past outside, 20oz take-​away coffee cups in hand with that silly green mermaid on the side whilst you sit pretty inside T&P. You have a reason to feel smug… sheer coffee bliss.
