The Graduate

Walking into The Graduate is like stepping back 30 years in time. This is a traditional London pub, not in a ‘refurbished to look old’ way, but in a ‘oh gosh, nothing’s been touched here for years’ kind of way. It’s in a strange area of Greenwich, not where the usual Yummy Mummys hang out, but in a more run down area. As we entered, all the locals sat at the bar turned to stare, I’m sure it’s the first time two women have walked in in years!
Having said that, we by no means felt uncomfortable during our time here. The landlady was really friendly although I bet she can keep to locals under control should any trouble kick off! The pub is actually massive once inside, there are two pool tables at the back, and arcade machines that wouldn’t look out of place in a museum. The walls are covered in drinking memorabilia and they have a huge selection of tankards on display
The beer selection is very much focused on lagers and the soft drinks came out of plastic bottles (I don’t think these are in high demand here!). Admittedly, I wouldn’t rush back here, but if I was in the area I would definitely pop in for a little half!

An absolute dive. Avoid at all costs! Wouldn’t have given even 1 star but had too.

The first of a series of murderers pubs I visited recently. No great shakes to look at from the outside but it’s got a good jukebox and the bar staf were friendly.
Clientele on a Thursday afternoon was a few older geezers and despite the large St. George’s cross shield attached to a rafter the place has Irish roots but thankfully none of the tat associated with themed pubs of the same family.
It’s got free Pool on Sundays from 19:00 and the table is well sited and in excellent condition as the pub is on the circuit for the local league and this is obviously a very well run affair, given the scores and rules prominently displayed on the rear wall.
