Much like a typical Wetherspoons(although it’s not), one of the main reasons I would go to this place is for the football. Which they make a big point of advertising all games and the like. So, forgive me for being thick, but I fail to see why they would have the football on with no sound in case it annoyed anyone!!! All the people there wanted to watch football and it’s not as if it is a family pub, so I’m rather perplexed. They tend to let the local drunks stagger around bumping into you and spilling drinks over you — it’s a pub, I’m not overly bothered — but then kick others out that actually seem more aware, not sure their agenda there. Food is rank, lower standard than the average Wetherspoon. Beer garden is really nice though and in the summer it is one of the few places in Finchley Central that you can sit outside with hanging baskets and not feel you’re on top of a major road. It’s okay, as in if the football is not on anywhere else I’ll go here. Not a place for drinks with the girls.

This place is okay for a neighborhood pub. Not quite a wetherspoon’s, though the menu is similarly generic. They do offer some good low calorie and light options, such as a Thai curry with chicken for 470 or so calories, which is pretty reasonable(although you don’t get much curry with it, and the rice is kind of low quality). We always seem to have to wait forever for our food here. Last time we were here it was 3pm on a Tuesday. Despite the fact that there was barely anyone there, and nobody else was eating, it took 40(!) minutes for our appetizer to come out. Nachos! You can literally make nachos in under a minute, and the cook clearly had nothing better to do. Nachos had virtually no cheese on them either, very mediocre. Nice thing about The Joiner’s Arms though is that the place is spacious, tables are plenty far apart, and they have lots of comfortable arm chairs to sit in, as well as an outdoor area. Definitely better to just go for drinks though, skip the food unless you have a lot of time to wait and are too drunk to really care about the quality.

The Joiner’s is a sports bar on the main stretch of Finchley Central. They have a bunch of plasma TV’s for football and have a nice garden out back. On Friday and Saturday nights they have a DJ and are open until 1 am, however, they sometimes stop people coming in after 11. The beer is cheap and the crowd is late 20’s– mid 30’s. Their food is horrible– I have tried most things on the menu and they were all nasty– mostly overcooked. I do not recommend eating here… ever. I like the place in general– just wish they could do something about the food.

The Joiners Arms is a large pub on the main road in the centre of Finchley Central. It serves up the usual choice of draft beers ie stella, fosters etc, as well as a couple of ales such as London pride. You get music in the background when the TVs are not on. There is a lively atmosphere and the place has plenty of comfortable seating. They have three plasma screens which plays sports when a big game is on. There is outdoor seating in the front of the pub but I suggest you venture to the back where you get a big garden which is great in the summer. You won’t find kids in this place making it great for meetings and an adult get together.
