The Marmor Grill

I wasn’t very impressed at all with this restaurant. The service was okay but we ordered the flat iron steak and I think this was the worse steak I’ve ever had. We also had the fried calamari and it was really tough. I think it’s very tough finding a really good restaurant inside of any hotel.

I had visited the Thistle Marble arch hotel for the UK Natural hair week event and after it had finished me and my companion were hungry. We were advised by one of the workers on the costa coffee stand that we could have mini bites to eat in the marmor grill. So we went into the Marmor Grill, i ordered the smoked chicken, pancetta and avocado salad, my companion ordered the smoked salmon salad. Whilst dining here we were made to feel very uncomfortable– a lot of dirty looks from staff members such as the man who took payment. The food was a let down– my smoked chicken salad was smothered in a white sauce that tasted like a salad cream/​mayonnaise — disgusting, if i had known that my salad would be lathered in a thick white sauce then i would have asked for it to not be on there! My companion however did enjoy her smoked salmon salad (it had no white sauce on it), and the portion sizes were very big. We also ordered two cocktails as it was apparently ‘two for one’ — these took forever to arrive. All in all this was a very unpleasant experience for me, the food was overpriced and they had the nerve to add on a service charge. I would not go back to this place and would definitely not recommend.

Good restaurant located in the second floor of the Thistle Marble Arch Hotel, great for catching up with friend. Good for groups because they have large elegant tables; we sat next to one a regal 10 seater dining room table. No complaints about the food, portions are big, the size of the plates are ginormous, the dessert menu was extensive, and we ended up ordering 5 desserts for 4 people wanted to try it all. Friend had a 50% off voucher, so it ended up being a good price for the ambiance. Service was friendly, but mediocre, judging on how quickly water was brought to us; had to ask a few times. Not bad if you go in with no expectation, perhaps better for business meetings.
