The location was prime, right on the boardwalk, surrounded by shops. The food was over all good, but not the best that we’ve had. We chose to try the mussels and fish and chips. One of our servers seemed to be annoyed or just in a general bad mood, not sure what was wrong with her. The rest of the staff was friendly enough. Good for a quick bite, but at the cost, I don’t believe we would visit again.

Hot caught in the rain. Came in for a bite. The mussels were excellent though it could be fresher. The mushroom risotto had mushrooms in it but did not taste at all like mushrooms. Seafood pasta was decent. Asked for tap water a few times and none was delivered. Food is average. The view increases the eating a bit but not much.

I went here for dinner a few days ago. The food was lovely, but I got food poisoning from the mussels! I had mussels and potatoes, and I probably didn’t get it from the potatoes. I didn’t eat anything else that day I could have gotten it from. Sad, because they were nice, but I’ve lost my appetite for mussels after being so sick from them! Also, almost no one was in the restaurant at peak dinner time. It was a Sunday, but there were plenty of people out and about. Should have taken that as a clue before we went in. We got our food very quickly… suspiciously quickly. I won’t be returning here!

We just dropped in here for a drink and some chips after a day of shopping. Great chips and just an sort of hole in ether wall atmosphere. Exactly what we were looking for.

Grim breakfast. Cheap bacon. Small portions. Disinterested staff. A real Shame They have a great location but because so much traffic walks by they take their trade for granted. It really is poor food. Would not come here again and more likely to walk farther to get better rides by the royal festival hall.

Wow what a horrible experience for our first Fish N Chips dinner in London! Neither my husband or I enjoyed our food much and the service was really bad! Once we received our food we didn’t have anyone come by our table again even once. Finally when we were trying to pay someone noticed and my husband asked for some more water and still we sat there w no water and no one came back with our bill for 15 min! So we finally went to the front and asked for the bill and we got it taken care of but we never got more water than a tiny little glass. I would never recommend anyone to eat here.

Fantastic location with great views. Really nice to sit outside even though the heaters aren’t very effective. Food is mostly good, if overpriced. Their home made ketchup is incredible, as is the dip they give with chips. Staff are friendly so overall, a nice meal out on Southbank.

Great food but servers Not very friendly. Wharf burger was my favorite and a must. Worth eating there at least once while in town but go for lunch. Great view of the river while dining. Choice of upstairs or downstairs. Both have nice views.

Cute place to stop by. Enjoyed an English breakfast here, along with tea. The food was well seasoned — not too salty nor bland. Portions were satisfying and service was friendly.

Bad Service!!! Waited 30mins to be served(after requesting 3 times) and then waited another 30mins to get the bill. The girls just ignored us every time we asked for anything. Not worth it

What a great place! My current favourite. Amazing view, yet none of the pomp and circumstance many others on the Southbank have. The food is well priced, huge portions and delicious. Great service too. We can recommend the chargrilled chicken salad, butternut and feta salad and fish(of which you get a huge piece) and chips. I’ll be back!

Decent seafood, but a great view of some prime London skyline. With an ideal location on the south bank, it’s hard to pass up. Can’t go wrong with the mussels here.

The food is nice and the views across the river are excellent but that’s where it ends. In summer this place holds it’s own but just went in December. It was empty and the service was terrible. The waitress was really rude, short and abrupt. We booked and mentioned we had a taste card and she looked down on us like we’d trodden in something. She have us no time to think about our Oder and as soon as one of us ordered juice she whipped away the wine glasses not thinking anyone else would want a glass. She didn’t listen too us, pay attention to us or be polite at any stage. Such a shame as we liked it there but we won’t be back now.

«Excuse me, it’s very cold here, can we move to the table under the heater?» «No, those tables are for four person». A couple just left that table not long ago. The restaurant is located right beside the southwark riverside. There were only a few tables have a nice river view, but ¾ of the restaurant are facing the indoor customers and the pizza restaurant next door. The restaurant is tiny and crowded. There is a window in between the indoor table and the outdoor table. It’s very annoying, it feels like you are dining on the same table with unwilling people. Some of those people are very childish. A middle aged women who sat next to the table indoor, put her placemat on the glass window in between us, just because we tried to flag a waiter/waitress down by looking through the restaurant. I guess odd people are everywhere. The outdoor seating is very cold and windy, but the staff will find any excuse to not turn on the heater upon request. The service is only friendly by the waiter/waitress who takes the order. And the service is very slow. After we finished the dessert, our waiter is nowhere to find. +++ Fish and chip: The best fish and chips in town. This is mr. Q’S 4th fish and chips place and he loves it. The fish is tasty. It’s crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The fries is not too oily and it’s crispy as well. -++Oven baked rainbow trout: The fish is crispy on the outside and tender inside. It’s very tasty and the chips is crispy and not overly salted at all. —Hot chocolate milk tasted like those cheap chocolate powder packages in the 3 star hotels. It’s very sweet and watery. They have probably the best fish dish in our entire trip, however we didn’t enjoy their careless service, the unfriendly atmosphere and the uncomfortable seating.

I concur with Kristi who wrote the first review. I was also really surprised that they bill themselves as a seafood restaurant and had very few seafood selections on the menu… and it was pretty much average quality. We had the mussels starter in cream sauce which was dull. No seasonings, just cream and butter and teensy tiny mussels at a very small portion for the charge… My seafood linguine was more linguine than seafood but it did have a tasty, tangy red sauce and my partner’s seafood risotto was skimpy in the seafood department, albeit tasty… It’s more of a casual burger, sandwich and salad joint in a prime location. I must complement the staff though because our server was wonderful and attentive. I wouldn’t go out my way to dine here…

Fantastic location, reasonable range of food, pity that our overall experience of this restaurant was very, well, Meh… After spending a sunny afternoon out on a sightseeing tour of the Thames I had a hankering for some good ol’ fish and chips, which is how we found ourselves at The Wharf. The menu offers a good range of wine, burgers, steak, salads, and what I thought was a very small amount of fish(I dunno, with a name like The Wharf I had expected a bit more seafood). Between us we ordered the Tuna Salad, Fish and Chips, and the Mussels. All of the dishes were good but not mind blowing. I was I little weary though when the waitress and the kitchen were unable to tell me what kind of tuna was in the salad(blue fin is in danger of extinction through overfishing, and Greenpeace also lists albacore, bigeye tuna, blackfin tuna, pacific bluefin tuna, northern bluefin tuna, southern bluefin tuna and the yellowfin tuna on it’s Seafood Red List, however Skipjack is currently still ok). I was also a little amused/concerned when three different waitstaff came to take/check the order from the Austrians on the table next to us. Both the Austrians and the waitstaff spoke English very well though with accents, yet the waitstaff kept repeating back the wrong dishes(really bazaar given that I could understand perfectly what all of them were saying). We wished the Austrians luck as we left, fingers crossed they actually got what they wanted. Definitely will be choosing the Gourmet Pizza Company next door over the The Wharf next time we find ourselves on the South Bank.

This is such a cute little area of Southbank. But they don’t really make the most of it. The shops are a mix of hippy shops and swanky jewellery places. It probably worked six years ago, but with the Oxo Tower designers centre up the road, I can’t help but feel the area falls short these days. But I like it still, the atmosphere is nice, and it’s a cute little addition to the Southbank. It’s just rough around the edges these days. Had the restaurant I tried yesterday been up to scratch, I might have been tempted to give them another star, but the area is pretty without having much to offer. Shame, because if it had a bit of an overhaul, it would be pretty wonderful.

If the weather is clement, the upper balcony affords great views over the river towards St Pauls and also takes in the OXO Tower on the South Bank. The menu is quite standard and all edible but nothing to write home about. A perfectly decent place to sit and take in the atmosphere around the buzzing Gabriel’s Wharf part of the South Bank. Due to the views, it’s also a good place to stop for a glass whilst on the South Bank walk– situated close to the National Film Theatre and on one side and a slightly longer walk to the Tate Modern on the other. Fish dishes and wines are their strong suits.
