Best in my opinion. First food I had in London and my favorite!

I visited this place during a lunch hour. Boy was it a wasted trip. I had an Amazon Local voucher entitling me to one large pasty, a snack and a drink. As a result I left my office without cash and just the voucher on my smartphone, expecting things to run as smoothly as my other Amazon Local purchases have at other nearby restaurants like Tossed and Leon. Absolutely not. As I arrive I present my smartphone voucher and it’s immediately refused. I’m given an unconvincing lecture about how they can’t accept it on my phone unless there’s a way to ensure it’s not redeemable again.(Despite no feature existing). They can’t accept vouchers either because they don’t have the retailers smartphone app. They can’t write down my voucher number but do mention they«might» accept a print-out«later on», despite this being exactly the same as writing down or taking a picture of my code. In essence I was treated poorly and in the end despite going through all their concerns, didn’t get any food, having to go back to the office and purchase something else from Sainsbury’s. Amazon did refund me in the end, but I have no idea why companies like this sign up to voucher sites if they have no way of redeeming said vouchers or even trying to come up with a compromise with a new and potential customer. This said, I won’t be ever visiting this establishment or business again and hope this review helps anyone else who is considering purchasing vouchers for this company from any of the voucher type sites. It’s definitely not worth the hassle, even if this is a one-off isolated incident.

Located just inside Waterloo Station, near the McDonalds, this little cart offers what is described a classic English food. These are meat filled pastries and they are quite good. Skip the sandwiches and McDonald’s and try one of these.

My very first pasty: mature cheddar and onion. Overall, I was not entirely impressed with the quality or taste of this pasty. It was so heavy on the belly — the crust was very thick and quite dry and difficult to eat. You had to finish each bite with a swig of liquid for it to go down. I am not sure if this is what it is supposed to be like to eat a pasty, or if I just got a really super dry and somewhat inedible one.

Not bad as far as pasty’s go, but controversially, I prefer square pasty’s to cornish ones as I don’t like the thick pastry on these. Still, not a bad quick bite if you are in a rush and there is often no que. I usually get one of these if traveling home late, as they are open quite late.

The West Cornwall Pasty Co has one of the most welcoming smells in Waterloo Station. When you walk down the escalator towards the exit, you will spot the famous stand by the entrance doors next to McDonalds. The pasties always look so great in their lighting and like I’ve mentioned before, it smells great all the time, even if you’re not hungry. The staff always work quickly to get the amount of customers hanging around what they need from them. Although it can be a bit pricey, it’s damn nice to be digging into a pasty on your way to work. They’ve got this popular bacon roll which always sells quickly, so do yourself a favour and grab one of them next time you see them, they are to die for!
