Zing Zing

So I was a bit skeptical of ordering from here after reading from reviews but the commentary of the website about they’re dedication to the cuisine and top ingredients sold me.
First off: fantastic website — easy to order and gives you an estimate of delivery time based on actual demand. Mine came about 5 min before the estimate.
Overall I thought the food was good — but didn’t live up to what I thought from the marketing in the website: oversold and under delivered.

Another day another try– but the food from zing zing was again not good. A box with edamame rice and miso glaced aubergine. The box was filled to the brim with rice, topped by just very few pieces of veg. The rice not cooked through and swimming in a oily salty sauce from frying it… feeling stuffed but without fun!
Just nearly eatable.
With all the shiny presentation on www it looks like a typical business louring you with its make up while it uses cheapest ingredients and pays their workers low to gain profit. They didn’t look like enjoying cooking and possibly they are no cooks at all… It’s a chain–

I still can’t workout why there are so many Zing Zing haters out there.
I understand us Unilocalers are all self confessed foodies but I can’t quite understand all of the very critical reviews of this place. It’s not a Michelin restaurant. It’s a Chinese takeaway on Kentish Town High St.
I would say this is the best Chinese delivery in Kentish Town. If your looking for a quality, old school Chinese takeaway I’d suggest the Sun Hin further up passed the station, although those guys don’t deliver.
This place tries to be a bit of a trendy takeaway offering twists on the traditional dishes and I find them very good.
They always offer deals. Delivery time is quick and prices, portions and dishes are good.
I suggest anyone reading the negative reviews please order and make up your own minds and if you think it’s bad then do please tell me wheres better as I’ve yet to find it in Kentish Town.

I’ve given 2 stars because they deserve something for their great design, ideas, the sound of the menu and ordering efficiency.
BUT the food was so over seasoned, the dishes with soy were drowning in it, the tempura prawns and calamari dishes were so salty and so over cooked. I threw the whole lot away and I’ve never done that before. I just couldn’t eat it.
Zing zing — Get rid of your chefs or train them how to taste the food properly in order to survive

Best Chinese in NWLondon!

My friend and I decided to try this place out, she had heard good things about the food and its presentation (Cute little boxes).
Unfortunately we were left unsatisfied and our tastebuds must hate us.
I ordered the Pork Dumplings and the Chunky Shredded Beef with Hong Kong Noodles, it’s called a Zing Box. The pork dumplings were horribly rubbery and tasted undercooked, they also seemed to come in a microwavable plastic bowl… I gave the started the benefit of the doubt but to my optimism the beef was tasteless, apart from slightly overcooked, and the noodles were salty and dry!
My friend had even less of a good time with her meal! She had the Chicken Wings and the Honey Glazed Char Siu with Hong Kong Noodles. The wings were drenched in a terrible sauce and the Char Siu might as well have been Char…
The presentation was great but the rest was horrid.
Not going back… ever.

This is my first one star review and boy o boy does it deserve it. We tried zing zing after reading a great review of it in the Kentish Towner. We love Chinese food but hate the standard takeaway tasteless slop.
The menu looks great, sounds really tasty and authentic, love the tone of voice too, i was excited to order. Our food around an hour and half later (having been given a 45 minute delivery time). The food was dried up and tasteless. The sauces were gloopy and didn’t have any taste and the squid was like chewing on rubber bands. My husband had a noodle dish that tasted deeply unpleasant but we have no idea what’s wrong with it. All in all i’m still after an amazing local Chinese!

On time delivery, but my GOSH the food has nothing Chinese about it. It is almost as if a South Asian making floating curry thought he/​she was making Chinese food. Almost seemed to have «Indian» /​Bangladeshi style spices. Please do NOT eat/​order it if you like any authentic food. Their website is totally misleading claiming they have a Chinese chef. No Chinese cooking uses sliced onions like they did in every dish.
I wonder have they ever ever visited China town in London?

This place seems to have a really active presence on twitter and facebook and I have seen their bikes whizzing around several times on my walk home, so I’m pretty surprised that no-​one reviewed it already.
The good:
— Ordering is really easy on-​line
— They have quite a decent-​sounding selection of Chinese dishes
— It’s not too pricey, we ordered 2 mains, 2 starters and prawn crackers for £26…It was waay too much food for two people!
— It was quick… it took about 30mins for the food to appear, although they thought it would take 45mins.
The less good:
— ‘edamame rice’ was actually just fried rice with a few peas in! Maybe they’d run out of edamame?
— The dishes looked better than they tasted. It wasn’t bad flavours… but the sauces are all really strong, so much so, that they overpower the flavours of the meat or veggies. I couldn’t even tell if the meat/​veggies were fresh, as the sweet, salty sauces were so intense.
This place is worth a try if you like strong, slightly gloopy flavours, but I think I’ll keep searching for better Chinese food for takeaways…
