Koh Tao

Let me start this review by saying that Koh Tao is unreservedly a student bar. With that said, they do have a great selection of beers, well priced and varied cocktails and the reason we went there — the kitchen is currently operated by Splendid kitchen!
We went on a Monday night, which is as they label it «the most offensive pub quiz in Manchester». It was very loud, rammed and definitely offensive, but it was nice to relive student days and my company for the evening actually really enjoyed the student vibe.
As I said we went along for the food, which did not disappoint (so much so in fact that we went again two nights later!). I opted for the Buffalo fried chicken — juicy buttermilk fried thigh meat with buffalo sauce and perfect fries, while my dining companion opted for the plain fried chicken which he proclaimed to be «the best fried chicken he had ever tasted.» The buffalo fries, which come smothered in blue cheese, bacon and buffalo sauce are also a highlight for me. There is also a great range of beers and cocktails available, at pretty competitive prices.
So, while the student vibe might not be for everyone, the food courtesy of Splendid is a total triumph
