Really nice pub in the centre of St. Albans. It’s very small will low ceilings, so don’t expect a seat at busy times! The service is good and they show some sports on the tv. The food is great and there’s a good selection of beers on offer. It’s really well looked after and has lots of character. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Situated right at centre of St Albans in a typical medieval building that’s had the guts ripped out of it its am OK pub with nothing special to make you say YES!!! Its dark like ts of wood mainly modern additions. Still its got a good range of national real ales pity they are stupid price. a beer I would pay £2.80 for at home is getting on for £4.20 in st Albans. you southerners are being ripped off big time :-)

upon arrival from London and on the way to fighting cocks we decided to have a pint in here because of the«Das Boot» reference: D nice pub!

I stuck my head in here to grab a quick pint while walking by after a tour of this gorgeous city. I stuck my head in during a rugby match and while I am not knowledgeable about rugby I had a good time. It was standing room only and I had a lot of fun. Had I been staying local I would have passed away a few hours. As it was I needed to catch a train to London so I had one drink and left. I’d love to come back and spend some more time here. I suspect my rating would increase had I stayed longer.

This is not a bad pub. You can get a nice pint of ale from an attractive barmaid, so no problems there. It looks like a proper old fashioned pub too, outside and inside(low roof!). They have live music nights etc I just think it suffers a bit due to its location. Let me explain There are a lot of very nice pubs in St Albans so for a start; there is a lot of competition for a start and many of the good pubs in St Albans have a small town/villagey feel to them, which is very appealing so close to London. The Boot to me feels too much like the busy city centre pub that has never particularly appealed to me and that I am trying to escape.

This isn’t somewhere I’d spend the evening but is a great place for a quick beer when in the middle of town. The Courage Director’s was good it’s a fun busy pub handy for the restaurants in the middle of town. The bar itself has been refurbished recently but still has it’s old beams and low ceiling.
