Adorable little house café and shop! So homey and inviting like you are eating at a friend’s home! The food is delicious. The homemade zucchini bread is wonderful and the sandwiches are perfect for lunch!

After hearing that this place was famous for their chicken salad and zucchini bread, I had to order it. It was great, I loved it! I had a peach iced tea with my meal and it was so refreshing with a hint of sweetness, it was just what I needed. Aside from the food and the friendly service, the place is decorated as if it were someone’s home; so adorable! The only thing that would make this place better would be an outdoor/patio area to enjoy the beautiful weather! I’ll definitely be returning.

Had the chicken salad sandwich with tomato soup and zucchini bread. It was so wonderful! The sweet tea was so good I couldn’t stop drinking it. We will definitely be back! The only thing that I regret is not going here sooner! Service was attentive and it just felt like home. Pretty refreshing to have this good of experience in Abilene.

The food here tastes very good. Before I was vegan, this place was a great eat for many things on the menu especially the chicken salad sandwich. Now I am vegan, and this place has nothing vegan except for the salads(if you cut the scoop of chicken salad which goes on top). They use milk in all of their bread and soups. This is why I gave it four stars, because of the limit of the menu for those who are vegan. If you have any questions, they are very nice and will help you out as much as possible! Great staff and the cutest environment!

Chicken salad sandwich is mmm mmm good! Although I didn’t really care for the sides of pasta salad and potato sticks. Zucchini bread is also good. Cute house renovated into a restaurant. Definitely coming back! Update: came back a 4th time in 2 wks and tried their harvest salad. I cannot stop thinking about it 3 hours later… SO delicious!

I knew this café existed but after an enthusiastic recommendation from the Abilene Visitors staff I decided to try it. It definitely appears to be a «ladies lunch» place but there were men there eating heartily. Their iconic chicken salad was good with lots of chicken breast meat but not so good that I would pass up trying their other specials next visit. The quiche combinations sounded good as did the sandwiches. The service was fast and efficient without being over bearing or too sweet.

This charming café occupies a historic house a bit off the beaten path in Abilene. It’s a popular place, but we had no trouble getting a table for lunch at 1pm on a Friday. Service was prompt, and we didn’t wait long for our quiches and salads. All were excellent, including the unusual maple vinaigrette salad dressing! It was definitely worth getting the side order of zucchini bread!

Yummy lunch, but the best is the cake selection for dessert. Really good. Nice service and a really cute home turned café. Don’t miss this place.

When I walked in the door everyone looked at me with slight difficulty in their eyes. My lack of ovaries stuck out like a democrat at a patriotic celebration. My friend said it was because of my sweet retro Lenard Skynard retro the and cut offs… But I know it was because of my weinyhow, the chicken salad was great. I just kept waiting for everyone to break out their copies of Jane Eyre and start talking about how cute Juan Pablo is. However, the next time I need to get me one of those cute sophisticated ladies, I’m definitely putting on my cardigan and going here!

I gave this restaurant one star not because of the food, which is always excellent, but the staff. The staff for the most part is always unfriendly and rude. Customer service goes a long way in customer retention. The quality of your food will not override the bad attitudes of your staff for long.

Excellent food, quick polite service. Quiche was hot and fresh and came with side of fresh fruit. Kinda girly but food is universal. Good food for all

This place is amazing. I know, it’s a girly place, but I’m always begging my fiancée to go here for the food. If you’re a fan of chicken salad, prepare to be amazed with how tasty it is here. Yes the Zucchini bread is fantastic and the salad creations are great too. However, for any first timers, get the chicken salad and some zucchini bread. For guys who do not have a fiancée for the convenience of eating at a girly restaurant like this: Perfect place for a lunch date. The fact that you are taking her to this place will speak wonders on your part. Don’t take her to Sharky’s. Man up and go here.

I can see why this little café is well-liked as the staff was very attentive and the house was gorgeous. I ordered the half turkey sandwich with the basil pesto and the sandwich itself was delicious. The tomato basil soup was just okay for me. I was disappointed in the pasta salad as it didn’t have much flavor for me. It was begging for some kind of vinaigrette or any kind of seasoning. I also didn’t care much for the potato sticks as I never know how to eat it. They’re too small for them to be eaten like fries. Do I put them in my soup? Do I shovel them in my mouth by the spoonful like dry cereal? It’s like the bottom of a potato chip bag with all the crumbs. The sandwich though was outstanding and I would definitely recommend getting a whole sandwich rather than doing the half sandwich and half soup.

I love this place! Great décor! Nice little gifts to look at and shop for before you dine. Wonderful hot chocolate, very creamy and made with real milk. Amazing chicken salad and zucchini bread! Many of their other sandwiches are delicious as well. We use it for our staff meetings. They have large tables for large groups, just call ahead.

The food here is really good and homemade like. Service here is good and food doesn’t take long to be ready. The menu is full of good choices. I have had the soup of the day, quiche of the week and the chicken salad. All was very good. Everyone needs to eat here.

Delicious, tea room food; or as my husband says, «It’s girly food.» Chicken Salad Sandwich was so simple, yet delicious. The ham and mushroom quiche was manly and very tasty. Must get the zucchini bread. It was addicting! It closes at 2:00 p.m.

Love it! Best chicken salad eva! It’s an old historic home turned into a restaurant. Fast, friendly. If they are too crowded just get it to go. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

I have lived in Abilene for nearly two years and have been looking for a place like this the whole time. My daughter took me there this week and holy crow. IT. IS. AWESOME. Totally not what I was expecting! I had a slice of SUPERGOOD zucchini bread(didn’t even need butter or the offered cream cheese) to start, a cup of potato soup(the best I’ve ever eaten, with or without added bacon cheese and chives) and the sublimely tasty broccoli and cheese quiche. QUICHEINABILENE? Yes. Be surprised. For the record, it was so good that within three hours, which was questionably dinner time(4:59 pm? hmmm…) I excitedly pulled out all the leftovers(my daughter’s potato soup, my leftover half quiche and my daughters barely-there ham and mushroom quiche) and happily ate them(okay, vacuumed them up, actually). The only downside is there hours are 11−2pm Mon-Fri. Oh and it’s cheap too!

Restaurant in old house built in 1895. Fast, friendly service. Salads, soups and sandwiches. Good food and prices. If you are traveling, it is a about 6 miles south of I-10. Worth the detour if you are looking for something other than Denny’s or Flying J. Great selection of desserts with emphasis on chocolate.

Quaint. Little. Typical Abilene cutesy lunch spot. Most well know for it’s chicken salad, zucchini bread, and flavored tea. Think tables covered in your grandma’s lacy table cloths, teachers gossiping about everything and everyone, and running into old friends… some you’d rather not see. But being such a classic spot in Abilene, this is common and should be expected. I like the quiche and tea and haven’t ordered anything else really after venturing away from that. Not bad… not anything special either.
