Arrived in January and had some awesome crawfish Very good and at a reasonable price Place is still pretty loud at night so the best time to go would be during the lunch hours, unless you like the loud blues which I truly do

It’s been a few months since I have been here… I gave them two stars because there jambalaya is awesome and worth 5 stars bar food consideration… Last time I was here I was working late until 12:30… Hadn’t had a drink in 3 days and was denied service for being intoxicated! Bull Fucking Shit. Don’t visit this place. ASSHOLES

My coworker decided she wanted to try this place out for lunch. Big mistake! The catfish was not good. I’ve never seen a piece of catfish that stiff unless it was frozen. The fries were good. The hush puppies felt like they were cooked in the microwave. Now, I know why there were mainly men in there. The food was inexpensive. I will not be going back. They still allow smoking in this establishment.

Went in for a late lunch, mid-afternoon. Place was mostly empty. Couple of guys at the bar. My wife beat me there and ordered an app of fried catfish and fries. Catfish was good, not great. Fries were fresh and tasty. I ordered the etoufee. Not sure what it was, but that was no etoufee. Tasted like Campbell’s tomato soup. In a word, turrible. Not inedible but sure as he’ll not Cajun flavors. Service was a little disinterested and didn’t like the smoky smell the place has. Will continue to look for decent Cajun/Creole in the DFW. Probably wouldn’t return.

Yes this is a smoking restaurant/bar, but I really don’t mind the smoking. Their seafood is fresh and phenomenal though! We ordered the fresh oysters and it was great, especially for the price! 12 oysters for around $ 12. Best deal around if you ask me. The restaurant also has a great vibe with lots of regulars. I also tried their crawfish pasta which isn’t bad. The olives in it are a nice touch. It comes out piping hot with a handle and everything! Definitely coming back for their oysters though.

Great place for a FRIDAY or SATURDAY Night out. The live music is great in the Blues part and the company is pretty good in the Shuck N Jive part.

A friend invited me for lunch and as we both were in the mood for some surf, decided on SNJ. I had been here before and remembered I liked their catfish. SNJ is in a very busy large retail center on Belt Line @ Quorum, with several dining establishments. That being said, parking can be a real challenge during the mid week lunch time frame, as it was today. After circling the lot twice, a space opened up right in front of the restaurant. YAY! The place was moderately busy, the bar being the most occupied spot. We grabbed a two top just inside the door. Our drink orders were promptly taken and delivered. Our server was also the bartender so he appeared spread pretty thin. We finally had to wave him down to take our food order. Although busy, he was most friendly and accommodating. I ordered the catfish lunch special, which came with fries and hush puppies, and one side. I opted for the gumbo. Friend ordered her favorite, the fried shrimp with beans and rice. Really enjoyed my large, plump, lightly breaded and seasoned fried catfish. The fish was moist and delicious with the extra tartar sauce and fresh lemon. I even liked the generous serving of thinly cut fries which are not usually a preferred item, but these were good. The serving size of the fish was enough for half of it to travel home to enjoy the next day. The gumbo, not so much. Couldn’t quite discern what wasn’t appealing, perhaps a combination of bland flavor and texture. Next time will go with the cole slaw or rice and beans. The hush puppies were pretty good, could have used a tad more seasoning and some green onions. I tried one of the butterflied fried shrimp, and as my dining companion stated. the seasoning was just perfect, along with the very light breading. All in all, it was a pleasant dining experience. Service was a tad slow, but not a deal killer for a return visit. NOTE — their blackened chicken pasta is simply delicious if you enjoy spicy food. The serving is humongous, definitely will be two meals and it does travel well to enjoy the next day. Will keep this spot in my lunch rotation the next time I’m craving some fish :)

For 3 plus yrs i cant get thru mgmt or ownership thru their website. But anyways i was in this location a while back. Ate and had maybe 3 beers on my last one i was drinking i thought it was a huge piece of frozen ice due to frosted glassware, as the«ice» finally slips thru i found out it was a super sharp piece of glass from how they stack the glassware. i didnt cut my mouth luckily but upon wondering what it is i did cut my finger(dumbass move i know). I let the server bartender know all the asshole said was sorry. I feel i should of gotten a freaken beer or that they would at least feel bad or embarassed of their screw up. Common courtesy is what i was hoping for.:(

It was my first time had a dinner in here. I came in on Friday night. The restaurant with a bar was quite busy but not too full for drinkers and late dinner customers(like me…). PS: When you go inside, on the right side, there was another door for a club. You need to pay for the entry. The music on Friday night had a cool atmosphere and you could hear it while you sit at the bar. I ordered half shells oysters — it wasn’t fresh enough in my taste, only cold. I asked the server for more lemon slice coz I only had one, I waited long enough until I decided to finish the oysters(if it too long, it won’t cold anymore). The waiters came after I finished all of it and he saw me and mumbling, «Oh, I forgot.». Oh, you finished.” What? At the same time I ordered crawfish hot and spicy — I waited for a while for that. The flavors was great in my taste. I don’t like salty, and this one wasn’t that salty. But… the crawfish was overcooked. The waiters asked about it and he said that because they had to cooked it in a big quantity. Hmm… I gave one more stars for the server, just because he nicely asked me before he go after he delivered the crawfish, «is there anything else that you need?» I said no. Then he came again to asked me about the flavors as I mentioned above. FYI, they allowed customers to smoking inside the restaurant/bar. I might go back to try different menu.

Every time I step into an Addison establishment, I cringe just a bit. When will Addison finally get with the times and ban indoor smoking??! This place reeks of cigarettes. At 2pm on a Friday, this place is packed with people lingering around and having a few drinks at the bar, it really makes me feel like I’ve stepped back in time to a small neighborhood joint. The food here is definitely nothing to write home about. The crawfish was really tiny when it should be in season. The seasoning was dry and bland. The oysters were also tiny and half the size of the norm. And the catfish bites were decent.

Neighborhood bar lots or regulars with 20 years of history hanging out. Part of Memphis with daily live music right next door. Great casual hang out to get your drink on.

They shuck the oyster right at the bar. Delicious. Good gumbo too. Yes, this is a smoking joint but I like that(I’m a smoker). What blows is how inattentive one of the bartenders is. I had to wait a good fifteen minutes to even be acknowledged by one of the bartenders. They weren’t that busy. Not that hard to say«I’ll be with you in a minute». Would give better rating if the bartender wasn’t such a nob.

Catfish is AWFUL. Best part of the meal was fries and water!!! Tried this placed based on the Unilocal reviews and it is an epic fail. Will NEVER return to this establishment! !!!

My only regret… …Is that I didn’t find this place earlier in my visit to Addison. I would have been there every night. As it was on my last night here I did a Unilocal search for restaurants nearby and Shuck n Jive and pictures of peel and eat crawfish on their Unilocal page. «No way», «surely it couldn’t be». I found out it was less than a half mile away and headed out expecting that it was still too early in the season for crawfish but expecting that I would still find some good cajun food. Much to my complete delight they had peel and eat crawfish. I put away 4# and loved them. They could have been a bit more spicy for my taste but that runs toward the really really spicy side anyway. I didn’t stay for the entertainment but the bartender told me that they have had live music there every night from the past 30 something years. Wow. I’ll go back.

Love this place. Probably not a bar someone my age would typically like, but I hate crowds and douchey bars/clubs. Very divey. You could go by yourself, watch a game and chat with the bartender and have a great time. If you get good, GETTHEJAMBALAYA! Not your traditional jambalaya, but it’s cheap and awesome. Beer prices are reasonable. The only reason I give this place 4 stars is because it’s pretty smokey, but that’s just Addison in-general.

This place gets two stars because there is nothing worse than enjoying a SCRUMPTIOUS meal while having to endure cigarette smoke! Bleh! I knew the club next door allowed smoking however when I came in, I noticed a no smoking sign to the right as you enter the place so I decided to sit and eat. There wasn’t a crowd and I was loving that! Well unbeknownst to me, that section to the right as you enter the place is their no smoking section!(which by the way looks like a time out corner for their non-smoking customers) — I KIDYOUNOT! OK…now that I have gotten that out the way, let me share with you my dining experience… I ordered a spicy crawfish pasta dish and it was DE-LISH-US! I would definitely give the chef five stars on the food! The food arrived to my table sizzling in a skillet and I literally had to wait a few minutes until it cooled down in order to fully enjoy my meal. They give you an adequate amount of food for a great price which is always great. If this could only be a smoke free environment. *sigh*. The atmosphere is quaint with friendly and attentive staff. If you can endure cigarette smoke while you eat then I would definitely recommend this place. Otherwise, get your food to go! #my2cents
