Description

Specialties

Children will be immersed in possibilities for exploration in our open studio design lab. Acrylic walls for painting, shelves of reuse material, and a variety of media and tactile exhibits fill the space. The studio is open for all ages.

Thoughtfully designed play spaces are engaging and spark imaginative play. Younger children can take a ride on the tike track, climb through the tree house, or have a tea party at the patisserie. Come build a fort in the construction zone, swing in the magical village, or snuggle up and read in the book nook.

Twirl Play Leaders come out periodically to lead «Twirl Time» with singing and dancing. Rotating play exhibits are featured each quarter. Twirl will also offer classes, seasonal camps and Kids Art Evening every Friday.

This was an amazing place for my 2.5 year old. My 5 year old was a bit bored. Thank goodness he ran into a friend of his here, and was able to entertain himself with his friend. That being said, I had to constantly watch them and make sure they were playing gently enough for the younger kids.

I’ve noticed that there are a ton of these indoor play/​art space popping up lately in the East Bay. It’s a great option when it’s cold and wet outside, and I’m so happy that there’s finally something in Alameda that is accessible by public transportation and next to other things to do.
The space is awesomely organized and clean, and kept my 2 year old occupied from the time that they opened till the time that he needed a nap. I think my main beef is that other caregivers are busy on their smartphones and don’t supervise their kids closely enough (which is usually fine in a playground setting, but less appropriate in a crowded indoor space).

First let me say, I do love that Alameda has an indoor play space! Twirl has some great things going for them. It’s spacious, the art studio portion looks amazing, and the setup in general is very cute. They also offer the parents and/​or caregivers hot tea (who can complain about that?!) However, the things I feel could be improved upon would be higher quality toys or play areas. It’s hard for me to pay $ 12 for my son to play with toys that either we or many of his friends own. Our favorite indoor play spaces include more interactive toys (building blocks or mazes, train tables, water tables, sand tables, etc.) I also don’t like that parents are not allowed to climb on the play structure, therefore making it useless to my 1 year old who still needs assistance climbing up so high and sliding down. I think the art studio portion is a wonderful concept; however, my son is too young to participate. But nonetheless, I am sure we will visit again.

So, so, so much fun!
My 6 year old twins just had a birthday today at Twirl and it was a blast.
The space is beautiful and well thought out… many things for the kids to do.
Our guests ranged in age from 2 – 7 years old and everyone was happy and entertained.
This is a great place for either a fun drop in play date or to plan for a birthday party.
We will def come back!

Loved Twirl! It was a fun place for children 1 – 5 with all kinds of activities! My grand daughter loved it! We stayed for 2 hours! Great place… Clean, friendly staff, arts and crafts. Love to start one in my hometown!

I don’t have kids, but I do babysit my friend kid quite often. He loves this place. The staff is awesome and the owner is local. They have all kinds of activities and they are always planning new ones. Continue the great work Sabrina! Bring your kids, their friends and enjoy some good fun. I think one of the best things about this place is kids, even adults can use their imagination and let it go wild.

Paradise for kids. Art, multiple play areas where kids can create and build to their hearts’ content, classes, birthday party options and parents’ nights out offered. Huge, bright, open space. My kids love this place. Where was this place when we were kids? Take your kids today and you will be their hero. I kid you not!

Twirl is every child’s fantasy turned reality. My girls (ages 4 and 1.5) LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Twirl! Walking into to Twirl is like being transported into an amazing kiddie universe where creating, building, imagining, and playing is just the beginning. From the art studio, to the treehouse, to the book nook, to the dress up area, to the café and market, to the building zone, there is something for every child. It is a beautifully designed space that not only thrills your children, but delights your visual senses. Check it out before your kids realize they have been deprived of kidtopia all this time (and you realize you could have easily entertained your kids for hours without draining your pocketbook or energy)!

This is a very beautiful and fun space. I took my 3 yr. old daughter there a while back and she loved it. The staff was friendly, the place was clean and it was not too crowded. I like that admission is only charged for the child and not the parent.
One suggestion since parents are just sitting in random corners since there is no café area to hang out. Perhaps an «adult» lounge area with couches, small tables, magazines and wi-​fi. I don’t think there would be enough room to add a café.
I also think everyone (both kids and adults) should be required to remove their shoes if they’re in the play area. Right now, only kids are required and I saw a couple of parents wearing their sneakers all overs the mats etc. I think parents of kids who are still crawling would appreciate that.

Walked over with my 5 y.o. son to Twirl and this place is awesome! The art area reminds me of the learn-​through-​play arts and crafts I did with my preschool kiddos back in Albuquerque. The space is HUGE with lots of room for make believe and imaginative play. It’s on Park St. Closer to Santa Clara. I met Sabrina (the owner) today and she is definitely a local business person we want as a mainstay in Alameda on Park Street!

This is such a fun place! I took my 4.5 month old here to make a Father’s Day gift for my husband. The owner Sabrina is so nice and helped me to get her hand prints and foot prints. They use non toxic paint. The owner designed the whole place. There are so many fun activities for the little ones to play with. There is also a whole arts and crafts section and it’s only $ 12 for the whole day to play and make things. It’s a brilliant idea. I can’t wait for my daughter to be a bit older and she can play there herself.

What an awesome place! My kids (2.5 & 4yrs) absolutely loved Twirl. Lots to do. Lots to create. Both the owner, and the other lady working there are welcoming and helpful with art projects. You can tell they truly love this space. I’m so excited that this has opened up on Park St.

Absolutely love this place! Stopped in with my young son (he turns 5 later this month) during their opening day celebration this past weekend and he had a blast playing and being creative. Given how much he liked his afternoon at Twirl, I brought him back today for a «Friday Night Out» session — he stayed at Twirl for three hours in the evening while I enjoyed a peaceful time blasting werewolves on my PS4 at home. He came out of Twirl just now SUPER EXCITED about the art project he completed, and super eager to get back again. Really love that we have a space like this on Park St. now!
