STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! TERROR FOR DOGS & FOR HUMANS !!! People here are nauseously insulting, degrading and plain ignorant. They obviously don’t want more business. It’s more important for them to be rude and ordinary towards customers. The younger guy yelled at my dog, and was extremely rude and insulting toward me. I went back after my acupuncture treatment to talk to (owner or manager, not sure. The bald guy who stinks of cigarettes). And after I selected around $ 75 worth of products, just before paying, I told him I wanted to tell him what had happened. When I did, he rudely yelled: «I don’t believe you. Get out of my store or I’ll call the police». Literally that’s what happened. You make your own judgement. These people are crazy. I read at least a dozen similar complaints here. The ones who think it’s a great place, just wait until it happens to you. I also thought it was a good place, and always stopped by whenever I’d get an acupuncture treatment next door. Sooner or later, you’ll see how these people really are.

More than a Great pet store, knowledgeable and helpful staff. They helped figure out my dogs food allergies and sell only high quality and safe products.

I have gone to Alpha Pet on and off for 10+ years. This year I got a puppy, the first puppy I’ve had in 20 years, and the Alpha Pet staff has been an invaluable resource. They know their products and everything they sell meets their high standards, so none of their dog treats are coming from China (my local privately owned pet store doesn’t do any due diligence). I find that the Alpha Pet staff’s knowledge runs deeper than the staff at most other pet stores. A staff member helped me problem solve that beef in treats was causing linger diarrhea my puppy had after a bout with giardia. When I wanted to buy my a seat belt and a front pull harness, they had several options for me to consider; they fit these products on my puppy when I bought them and later on, per their offer, they adjusted the fit when she got bigger. Yes, it’s irritating that the parking lot limits where customers for any business, not just Alpha Pet, can park, but on the few occasion I’ve had to park outside the lot, the staff has carried my purchases to my car. I’m considering getting pet insurance, I might want to change vets, and when she’s older I’ll take my dog to dog school; in all of these instances, when I’m further along in deciding what to do, I’ll seek the input of the woman who owns Alpha Pet.

After putting up with the high prices and semi rude employees for years, today was my last visit to this shop:
1) I learned that customers who park in the middle of the parking lot are being towed — it’s reserved for shop employees;
2) I’m tired of the ‘discount’ cards that one must carry in wallet/​purses, used for over-​priced treats & trinkets; and
3) today I was told I had to write my name and number, legibly, on a redeemed card. As normal, I scribbled something, which was rejected, and told I had to fill out another card for ‘tax purposes’. So I wrote down something, and left the shop — for good. Too bad, because I like supporting local businesses.

I would like to retract my review concerning «the poop bags» that i purchased last week. The sales person who served me was new and did not know the spirit and policy of the store. When I went in again, the manager and everyone was very apologetic about what happened and I am very sorry that i spoke too soon. Everyone here is very sincere and they deserve your business.

I’ve been a customer since I got my dog 5 years ago. Their prices are much lower than other small pet stores in the area and the big box pet stores. But my main reason for shopping there is the owner and her staff. Everyone is so helpful and knowledgable, I can’t imagine going elsewhere. I’ve had trouble with food allergies and they are more helpful than my vet at times. I can’t understand what the other reviewers are referring to when they say the owner is rude. She’s been so great with me. They’re really the best in my opinion.

I want to support this place because it’s local and I like the selection. Unfortunately the owner is so rude. My boyfriend had an especially difficult time with her-​she was more rude to him than me. I hope it has nothing to do with race and it’s just that she’s a rude woman. Either way-​you don’t feel like dealing with someone mean when you are about to spend hundreds of dollars.

Oh how we love Alpha Pet! They are just amazing. As a professional dog trainer/​dog walker I use treats on a regular basis, and am always looking for something new and exciting to motivate the dogs I work with. We all like a little variety when we indulge in out favorite treats, and I like to provide that for my dogs. Tina always helps me with the latest and greatest new american made grain free treats for my dogs. I stock up regularly on a variety of tasty treats that keep my dogs focused and ready to work.

Alpha Pet Supply is our go-​to pet store. They carry high quality food and treats, along with great toys and accessories. If they don’t have what you need, they are always happy to special order it. All of my cats’ favorite toys have come from here! I’m a little shocked to see some reviews here mentioning rude customer service, because I have shopped here for 7 or 8 years, several times a month, and have never encountered that. This is one of the few pet stores where you can actually ask a question, and get a solid answer.
Their prices are in line with other stores, in my experience, perhaps a dollar or two more on certain items, but the selection and variety found here more than make up for that to me, not to mention the money back you get with your red cards (we have redeemed many, many times).
Chris always gives us the best advice, sometimes better than our vet. The owners are incredibly friendly. We even brought our in laws here 2 or 3 times to pick up some things for their dog when they were visiting from the Fresno area, and the associates still ask us how the pup is doing. I have never had such genuinely friendly service from any establishment, and am so glad to have found this place!

I stopped in here because it’s next door to my new kitten’s Vet. They were very helpful in advising me on cat food and threw in a little toy as a welcome to the store gift. That little mouse is the 1^st thing the kitten played with as she’s been healing from a mysterious ailment. Thanks for caring.

Love this little pet store for so many
puppy was on orijin food when I brought him home and I did not know about the food until I brought him home. I had to search on orijin’s website to see where I could get him more food and didn’t realize there was a cute little store very close by me. Everyone in there is so helpful and nice.

I’ve put up with their high prices because I like the employees that helped me and I try and support local stores but had a bad experience with the owner and won’t be shopping there again.
It is not so much what was said it was the aggressive, reprehensive tone that was used, it was unnecessary and when I called her on it she said it was her store, well it may be her store but I won’t be a customer there any longer.
I spend about a thousand dollars a year on dog and chicken food, I’m sure other pet stores will welcome my business.

Yesterday Alan and I had brunch at Sam’s Log Cabin and I caught sight of this pet store in the back south corner of the strip mall across the street. Later in the afternoon when I was running some errands I made a point of stopping by. I had Jordin w/​me but left her in the car. I was warmly welcomed by the staff and was encouraged to bring Jordin in, which I did. She was also warmly greeted, admired and given treats. Nice, nice people and a large selection of foods and treats and collars and leashes and food and water dishes. Lots of tempting things. Jordin sniffed at some of the plush toys and accepted everyone’s attention. It’s so nice to have another independent pet store to visit. I’ll be back.

I had settled into a routine with our aging pit bull and two cats that required little interface with pet supply stores – the cats ate a prescription diet, the dog’s bully sticks came by mail order, and I hadn’t had to buy a new pet bed, bowl, or collar in years. That all changed when these good souls passed on to their reward, and two kittens and a puppy joined our household. Suddenly I needed pet stuff, lots of it, and like any new mom I needed guidance and support, too.
I had always thought that Alpha Pet was a boutique-​y store for Berkeley types… people who like to let you know that their rescue dog came from the streets of Guatemala and that their cat is vegan. Sorry! I was wrong. In the past month I’ve been to a half-​dozen pet supply places and, in my experience, this is actually a practical place to shop. Here’s why. The salespeople know their stock and take the time to listen to your needs, so you don’t have to do the homework of comparing products online, and you don’t end up wasting money on things that ultimately don’t work for you. The folks at Alpha Pet were super helpful in selecting and fitting my new puppy’s no-​pull harness, and in suggesting appropriate chew-​objects for the little rascal. When my catlets are ready to venture into the great outdoors and need collars with ID, I know where I’ll go.

This is one of the best mom and pop animal supply store I’ve ever seen in my life.
The selection is HUGE. Way more than I expected. My sister and I stumbled upon this place and I fell in love. I was able to get Santana’s Primal food here which is EXCELLENT!
The staff that work there are super friendly and always super knowledgeable about all the products or any help you need.
They also have great homemade treats that Santana loves :)

We first discovered the store on a trip to Albany. Our dog had an easy walk harness, and we needed a larger size. They turned us on to the original sense-​ation brand harnesses, as they don’t chaff the dog’s skin like the easy walk brand does. It was a perfect fit and we’ve up graded through our pup’s growth spurts.
On a return trip we stocked up on items. They have a reason for every product they carry. Tina can tell us the differences and why they might prefer one product over another. We epecially like the Chuck It Zipflight. She said it was a tough frisbee that a friend owned, and I have to say that my destructive pup is enjoying Trying to tear it apart, with no luck!
Five stars especially for their expertise and customer service! Not like a chain store at all!

I had such a pleasant experience here. I have been having difficulty with pigeons in my yard. I call them the pigeon mafia, as they sit on my huge pine in the back yard an intimidate all the small birds who go looking for their meals. Most wild bird food’s primary ingredient is millet which attracts pigeons, and all the major pet stores carry the bird food which includes millet. So I went on Unilocal looking for a wild bird food store hoping to find a store which might have a variety of feed and was happy to find this store with all the 5 star ratings. I live in Alameda so this is a bit out of the way, but it’s all for the birds so why not?
I was greeted almost immediately by a cheerful woman, asking if I needed help. She directed me to the bird feed room and boy did I hit the jackpot. There was a good supply of individual ingredients — nyjer seed, raw kernel sunflower, black sunflower, peanut, etc., as well as mixes. They also carry a good array of bird houses and feeders and the cleaning equipment for them, as well as fun items for the bird enthusiast and squirrel enthusiast. Do you like to try and trick your squirrels? I know I do! You can get all your supplies here — corn cobs to hang on bungie cords to watch them try and eat them, supplies of peanuts, or baffles to deter them from the feeders.
A very nice man name Chris came and asked if I needed help and he carried my multiple 20 lb. bags of feed to the counter, then helped me select which cat flea medication would be best for my fluffy blue and cream Tortie named Zoe. She adores sitting in the window, looking out at the bird feeder with it’s load of 20 or so black cap gold finch and vireo and yacking her head off, declaring that she is gonna eat them, uh huh!
All in all, it was a very nice experience. Very helpful people, great selection, and good prices. I would come here again and recommend you should too.

This is going to be a weird review. I had planned on going to a PetCo but instead I got lost in Albany.
I was in need of a wig brush. Yes, a wig brush. In particular wig brushes are also very similar to long haired dog brushes. The ones with metal combs that move in a circular motion as you brush. This is what you need to brush your wig.
So I was lost and I saw this place off to my right and pulled in. It was a complete accident. I’m kind of glad I found the place.
Customer service was excellent and helpful. I wound up finding the brush I needed then a couple of other things for my dog too. A yummy shampoo for her to try and some snacks. No, I don’t recommend using dog shampoo on your wig.
They were so helpful in here Ill even try to make a point to come back again. Now that I know where it is.

I didn’t expect to be writing a five star review of this place after just one visit.
What immediately stands out about this place is their attentive, knowledgeable service and the abundance of healthy pet food options.
My cat is on a restricted diet and cannot eat gluten, so I have to buy him all-​natural/​limited ingredient organic food and treats. It’s diffiult to shop for him necause I don’t always know what to buy. Thankfully, the staff was helpful enough to recommend different options to me.
In fact, I’m trying a new food for my cat that will save me hundreds of dollars over the prescription food he’s currently on — and that’s all thanks to these great folks who recommended a lower-​cost alternative. They even offered to refund the price of the food if my cat didnt like it. Amazing!
Alpha also carries a ton of cute pet toys and beds. This place is definitely top notch.
