Bombers Burrito Bar

Bar tenders are absolutely wonderful! The service is usually pretty quick, prices an excellent for happy hour (or $ 6 all night Wednesday for margaritas!) definitely worth visiting!

This place is good for young 20s. If your older then that you stick out, it’s mostly drunk college age kids. The Burritos are yummy and once a year it hey would have free burrito day. I can’t remember when that falls. They do have amazing birthday drinks served in a huge martini with a sparkler. It’s too big to drink alone, well unless your a kid who doesn’t know any better. It’s right on Lark the center of hipster area in Albany. Going upstairs to sit at the tables seems like a task though after three or four drinks. Watch out that last steps a Doozie!

Mediocre. The margaritas are great but a lot of their food is pretty bland.
Will go back for some drinking but doubtful for eating. The only thing I like from there is their pulled pork.

Came here for some quick takeout while staying in a nearby hotel. The burrito bowl was ok. It was a good sized portion, but lacked the spice I was expecting based on the menu description. Their Rasta Fries, however, are delicious. I couldn’t quite figure out what seasoning combination they put over it, but it was a great combination. An excellent side order worth taking onto any meal.
The takeout service was very quick, and the counter staff was very friendly.

The only thing good about this place is the drinks and they can’t even keep that consistent… Worst service on lark by far…

If you’re coming for margaritas, they’re some of the best around. If you’re looking for tasty food, try another local spot. I’ve been consistently disappointed with their guacamole (gross!) and burritos. If you’re ordering wings avoid the «rodeo» sauce. It’s nothing like they describe it and lacks a true flavor.
I love the margaritas here but avoid them for food. The burritos are HUGE but finishing them is a challenge because they lack flavor.

Recommended to stop here by a friend when dropping off our nephew at school. Food was decent, but definitely left something to be desired. I did a quesadilla and a burrito and there was definitely something missing in the nachos. Would have been nice to know ahead of time that there was a bar upstairs and if you want to drink you have to be upstairs to do so (not downstairs).
It’s in a nicer part of town and I can see what the appeal would be for students in the area.

This place is a DIRTY place. The food is terrible and the guy behind the bar is rude. The drinks are badly made. A drink is supposed to be made properly not just a bunch of booze thrown together. The food is not even close to being good. This is the place you go to when you want a DUI or just want to end it. If the food doesn’t kill you the alcohol will.

Just okay. I cannot say this is mexican food at all with the lack of cilantro and lime in the cuisine. Also, no hot sauce??? Not even tabasco? This is just a bar with okay bar food.

I had a quinoa bowl with grilled chicken and that was the worst meal I’ve ever had (as far as I can remember). Everything was bland. The guacamole was watered down (no, i don’t know how they do that but it didn’t even taste like guacamole). The quinoa was not favored. The black beans and salsa were bland. I notified our waitress of this. I literally had 2 bites of my food. And I was still charged. I’m not coming back here. BTW, Service was horrible as well.

So, if you find yourself on Lark street after 10 PM and you’re looking for dinner, you’re in dire straits. It’s slim pickin’s at this time so we stopped into Bomber’s (hadn’t eaten here since I first arrived in Albany and there’s a reason for that). I can’t give them less than a 3 because we were in a pinch and the wings were reasonable.
We ordered downstairs and so «had to eat downstairs»?? Either way, let’s just say the ambience is college-​grunge-​chic and if you have to eat here, best to take-​out. We ordered the nachos with ancho chicken (shredded), the chicken taquitos and the honey maple BBQ wings.
The nachos looked promising but the chicken was a total flop– flavorless and semi-​dry, I never thought it’d be possible for me to dislike shredded chicken! The taquitos where the probably the frozen ones you buy at the grocery store
I was banking on the wings, honey maple BBQ sauce– How could that be bad? Well, the ones I got were dry and crunchy (in a bad way), which is a shame because the sauce definitely has potential. I think my husband got all of the edible ones because he thought the wings weren’t bad.
The food was not worth it for me and maybe I’m being too nice but I couldn’t give it a 2 because we were starving, the wings were decent (if you found a non-​crunchy one), the margaritas are ok, and this place is probably a reasonable option for college students looking for a late bite.

I’ve been coming to Bombers for as long as they’ve been in business on Lark Street. They do what they do pretty consistently. Good ingredients. Lots of different options.
I pretty much get a burrito when I’m here. It stuff me full and makes me sleepy. This is a good thing. But the cheese fries are good. If I got both in a night I’d likely explode.
The staff is funky, and usually friendly.
So, yeah, this isn’t a Mexican place. There is NOTHING «authentic» here. (What does that even mean?) You can eat upstairs in a more of a bar/​sit down environment, or downstairs in a more fast food/​takeout one. They have lots of drink specials and events upstairs, and downstairs frequently plays cartoons. If you’re looking for what passes as «Authentic» Mexican food try El Mariachi. (There’s 3 of them right near you.)

I really wanted to like bombers. My friends were so excited to go. They love bombers because bombers has many vegan and vegetarian options. Since everyone else was going veggie I decided to get the veggie burrito. It arrived and it was average. Not much flavor. When I bit into the burrito it wasn’t enjoyable because I would get one bite of only cheese and another of only that ingredient and the cheese was cold — overall it was cold. My friend ordered chips and Guacamole and didn’t finish it because the Guacamole didn’t taste well which I thought was weird, so I tried it. I think they just put way to much lime juice in it so it was sour. Anyway, not in a rush to go back, but would give another chance to try something else on the menu. I can’t think of much positives other than the neat inside décor and vegan options.

Actually it’s funny I reference vomiting burrito all over me, because when I first performed in Houston, I ate at a very similar place to this, and got burrito all over my shirt, and then didn’t realize, and performed like that, and the fans at the show pointed it out to me. Good times.
Speaking of memories, Bombers is a nice one. It was late night after a concert in Albany. I wanted something to eat (and someone to eat, but that’s different), and the people at my concert (at the Mall, at a Borders) directed me to come here.
I hadn’t experienced things like Chipotle and Freebirds before so this was a new experience for me. You select what sort of meat you want and what you want inside your burrito, and then you add all kinds of sexy sauces to it. It was pretty good! In retrospect it wasn’t at all Mexican, it was very much «white people burritos», but those are still good, especially when you’re starving. It was very filling, they were good sized, and they were fairly cheap considering it was a very late night college spot.
Of course years later, when I went back, it wasn’t the same. My tastes had changed, it was a little bland, and the prices had gone up significantly (maybe I’m just getting old). But I’ll always have lovely memories of this place, one of my first white burrito experiences. And Albany has never appealed to me much in terms of food, so this actually stands out. I look forward to coming back and finding different places, though.

Oh Bombers. The staple of Albany and Center Square life. I lived in Center Square for two years, and never got around to reviewing Bombers. It was just such a constant in my life, it never occurred to me!
Now that I live uptown, I miss the easy walk to Bombers for pulled pork burritos and the late-​night runs for piggy fries. Of all the things on the menu, I think I like the fries selection the best. My appetite is pretty big, but not big enough to handle their burritos! I always end up having half saved for later (also not a bad thing!)
I wish I knew what seasonings they used on their rasta fries. They’re salty and spiced up and absolutely addicting. And when it’s frigid cold outside, nothing feels better than to slide into one of their booths downstairs for a generous helping of piggy fries. The bacon. The cheese. The bbq sauce. The EVERYTHING!
When my friends would go nuts over the burritos, I would be perfectly content with their bbq tofu fries. Not many people I know have heard of them, but I think I ordered it like ten times in three months at one point. It’s the perfect size for a small meal, and you can trick yourself into thinking it’s healthy because it’s…tofu.
Now that I think about it, I think I’ll make a run to Bombers this weekend…

Bombers is an Albany staple. No matter when you visit, you always need to go to Lark for great margarita at Bombers.
Bombers has one of the best margaritas in Albany. There’s at least 7 different flavors, I’ve tried all of them. A favorite is the Grand Margarita (Tequila & Grand Marnier) and the Rosie (Tequila, Patron, and Cranberry Juice).
Not the mention the food; the crispy, greasy, and saucy wings. Which are AMAZING. Literally everyone loves the wings at Bombers. And if you don’t? You just can’t sit with us. The quesadillas, burritos, and best of all PIGGY FRIES. It all keeps me coming back every time I make my way upstate.

Great wings, decent prices and service but below average burrito and quesadillas.
My friend, boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. It wasn’t that busy when we arrived, but by the time we left the place was hoping. It’s a typical college dive in my opinion. We walked in and the «hostess» who looked like a punk girl in college with a winter hat on, a shirt that was way too big on her and sitting there texting even though all the customers could see. It didn’t bother me, there were plenty of seats and she let us sit at the one giant both even though there were three of us, it was just sort of funny. It worked out that we asked for such a big table since we ordered so much food.
Upon being seated, the waitress came up to take our order. My boyfriend ordered one of their frozen strawberry margaritas for $ 8. It was SO strong. All you could taste was the tequila. Apparently they put two shots per margarita into a mason jar, a good value considering, but if you’re looking for a tasty, fruity drink: this is not the place. However, if you are looking to get drunk, this would work perfectly. My friends and I ended up sharing the piggy fries ($ 8) and an order of wings, half tequila, half cajun whiskey ($ 10 + $ 1 for splitting). The wings were amazing. They were flavorful (both sauces), the wings were juicy and sizeable, and they gave a decent amount of sauce without me asking for extra. The tequila wings were like a parmesan garlic sauce with actual minced garlic. It was very yummy. The cajun whisky was spicy yet had flavor: something I admire in a wing. I really liked mixing the two sauces; the spice and garlic combined was delicious. The piggy fries were pretty good. I’m not a huge BBQ fan, but I was impressed at the amount of pulled pork and cheese topping the fries. I feel like there was more pulled pork than fries, but they were still tasty and plentiful. For our entrees, I ordered the acho chile chicken quesadilla for $ 8. It was mediocre. The chicken was on the dry side, but there was plenty of cheese and I was surprised to find the salsa was made with fresh ingredients as were the jalapenos on the quesadilla and the sour cream and salsa made up for the dry chicken. My friend ordered the cowboy which had chicken, bacon, spicy bbq sauce and jalapenos served with ranch. She really enjoyed it and would come back for it, but she also thought the chicken was dry. My boyfriend ordered their ancho chile burrito. It was very disappointing. It was a giant heap of mush. It was mostly rice with little chicken and I couldn’t even tell what else was on there. It was only served with chips and salsa and my boyfriend kept putting the chips in the burrito to give it crunch over mush. I would definitely not recommend coming here for a burrito: the name of the establishment is deceiving.
Our waitress was nice but wasn’t very good at keeping up to speed with our water. Basically, she didn’t refill any of our water at any point, but everything else was fine. The food came in average time and she came back to see if we needed anything a few times.
Overall, I love their wings but their Mexican options aren’t really worth it. Also, their drinks may look tasty but they are very strong in the alcohol department. Their drinks and atmosphere definitely reflect the kind of establishment: a college hole in the wall. The prices aren’t too bad and some of their food is pretty good. I would come back here in the future.

I cannot believe I am updating this review after boycotting Bombers for a good five years after some horrible experiences. BUT… I’ve been introduced to their takeout wings, which are surprisingly great. They are one of the only places in the region that I’ve found that does a crispy, dry wing (the ranchero and lemon pepper garlic especially).

The margaritas here are outstanding, and pretty much the only reason to come here. Getting their giant sparkler-​laden margarita on my birthday has become a yearly tradition. The disco fries (and piggy fries) are the only other reason (s) to come here. They are also fabulous. Everything else is generally lukewarm, under-​seasoned, unimaginative, dry, stale, etc.
Bomber’s still gets a thumb’s up from me, as long as I don’t stray too much from the couple of items that are tried and true…

A great place for late night food with a fun atmosphere. We were looking for a place to grab a drink and some snacks and this was the right place to go!
The menu has lots of vegetarian and tofu options. I’m not a vegetarian, but really enjoyed the vegetarian wings and tofu fries. The XXX hot sauce was good… but I was expecting more heat. It tasted more like X hot. I like medium wings though, so it was fine by me!
The margarita salt was purple. Apparently you get a free mega margarita on your birthday, yum!
The waiter was friendly and nice. He had a very chill vibe that I liked.
The springs on my side of the booth were broken, so I spent the meal looking up at my friend!
