Brought my 05 civic si here with a few troubled codes. Steve and I have never met before but regardless his team took good care of my ride and did everything flawlessly. Would recommend to anyone with a foreign auto in need of fixing.

This is by far the best place to bring your car if you own a Honda. I only wish I found this place much sooner! I have owned my Honda for 6 years now and it is only now that I can rest assured any future repairs that need to be made will be done right and will be done at a reasonable price. Not only will they get the job done right, they will explain everything they did in great detail so you understand exactly what happened. The best thing you can do for your car is to give this garage a call! Excellent. Excellent. Excellent.

After hearing so many good things about Steve, the owner of Larry’s Foreign Auto, I brought my Miata to him because the ABS and TCS lights would remain on. Steve and his staff analyzed the problem and solved it in an effective and inexpensive repair. I am sure this was «minor» surgery for Steve, but i have to say I am very impressed with how nice it is to deal with him and how much confidence I have in him. As has been said in other reviews, «you feel like you are dealing with a doctor». He is very professional. No relation, just a satisfied customer.

Steve is honest, helpful, fairly priced and they will fit you in quickly. I have nothing but great things to say about this place and will continue to come back even since I’ve moved to Schenectady.

I have been a consistent customer of Larry’s. While they are not always available on the phone, they are a lovely bunch over there.
I have had my wheel bearings replaced, inspections done, wipers changes, and my car is there now getting my high beam switch fixed.
I have never felt like I was being shafted out of money, and Steve (to whom I speak the most) is more than happy to break down costs for anyone who asks.

I found these guys on Unilocal when I needed a tire repaired in Albany because I wasn’t supposed to drive more than 50 miles on my spare. Steve and Brett and their colleague were great and took good care of me (even though they don’t work on VWs and I drive a Tiguan.) Larry’s is clearly a special place.

It’s a little hard scheduling with these guys because they are so busy, but it’s really worth the wait. They are probably one of the best diagnosticians I’ve come across in the auto repair business. They will schedule an appointment for an initial review of the problem, thoroughly going over every possibility, test driving it with you in the car and then decide on a plan of action. They are a bit pricey compared to some of their competition, but it’s quality over quantity, and you won’t be going back again because the problem wasn’t fixed right the first time. Very pleasant and a joy to go to when you’re stressed out about your broken car, couldn’t recommend enough!

The most honest guys around. I go to no one else!

A while back I had tried to get a hub bearing replaced at the place down the road from Larry’s in the big blue building.
A week later, they charged me 150 bucks for diagnostics and didn’t even replace the part! They said they couldn’t find a problem with the hub bearing and that I should buy new tires from them at 250 bucks each before they could tell for sure the noise was coming from the bearing.
I brought it over to Larry’s and the same day they had the bearing replaced for less than the cost of the diagnostic at the other place.
Since then I’ve had all kinds of maint. done by them and it’s always spot on. brakes, belts, plugs, fluids, etc. Never had a single issue, and I know if I did they would take care of it. I’ll be getting my clutch done there soon as well.
There are few things in life more valuable than a trustworthy mechanic. At Larry’s foreign auto, that’s exactly what you’re getting. Steve is great and gives you all the information you need with no BS. He also doesn’t automatically assume you have no idea what you’re talking about like most mechanics.

Steve and Brett have taken great care of me for years now. At Larry’s you get honest, personable, and friendly service. My father brought our cars here for years until he moved out west. People may wonder why it’s called Larry’s when Steve is the owner. Larry and Steve were partners until sadly, Larry passed away. Steve being the stand up guy he is just decided to keep the name.
I even get my oil changed here. A bit more expensive than valvoline and the likes but I like to give Larry’s the business. Especially because they don’t nickel and dime you like most other places. So if I have to pay a little more for an oil change to not have to put up with a bull shit scam artist telling me I need something I don’t, then so be it.
My brother also brings his cars down here. I can’t say enough good kings about these guys. As far as mechanics go, these guys are unparalleled.

I first started going to Larry’s when I was in high school, and had a 1993 Camry, and have nothing but praises. Next came the 2006 Camry, and again, had all the work done at Larry’s. Have been recommending them to all of my friends and relatives

After my first visit to Steve, I’m sold.
He’s like a health care professional for your car. He checked out my CRV and let me know about a variety of things I’ll need to have fixed or replaced at some point. He told me I need to watch my oil level better. The catalytic converter was flaky, but there was a rusted mount near it so he said, «let’s keep an eye on it and see how it does.»
It felt like I was talking to a good doctor, only we weren’t talking about my blood pressure, we were talking about my car.

Steve is great. I took my Lexus to Larry’s Auto approx 3 years ago when my local (glens Falls) toyota dealer couldnt diagnose why my air conditioning didnt work. They said it wasnt the condensor or the compressor, but couldnt figure out what it was. I took it to the Lexus dealer in the Albany area and they said (after charging me $ 90 for the diagnosis) it was the compressor and maybe evaporator would cost 3k+. Since this conflicted with the «rule out» that Toyota gave me, I took it to Steve @ Larry’s foriegn auto for a 3^rd opinion. After Larry took it apart, he carefully diagnosed the likely cause as a pressure swith (inexpensive a few hundred for labor and the part was cheap). Steve was correct. Afterward, the dealer stated that it would only be temporary, and the new switch would blow after 1 or 2 days. It now has been 3 years, and if the A/​C blew any colder it would be Ice. Larry’s foreign auto is the best!!!

I got a referral to Larry’s Foreign Auto from a friend and it was a great tip. Competent, reasonable, trustworthy, knowledgeable — what more could you ask for? Ok they have funny cartoons on their bulletin board and the daily paper to read if you have to wait (not long). My next car purchase will come only after consultation with Steve — it has to be something they can take care of… Honda, Toyota, whatever… if Steve will look it over, I can buy it.

I found out about Larry’s thanks to the few glowing Unilocal reviews so far, and as far as I can tell, they were spot on. My car’s engine broke down in VT, and even though Larry’s was a little beyond the AAA free towing range, I decided to pay the extra fee to get it there, to bring my car closer to home. Steve was honest and nice and fixed me up with a working replacement engine, making sure that all the parts worked as well as they could in such a risky, uncertain, and costly repair situation. I was wary of getting my car fixed in a remote location, sight unseen, but Steve earned my confidence and my vote.

I found Larry’s through word of mouth. Steave knows everything there is to know about any car and he is not only an excellent mechanic, but he is honest and trustworthy.
I asked him to do the bare minimum on my car due to lack of money, and instead of lying to me and trying to convince me I had to fix an ungodly amount of things (like all dealerships tend to do), he gave me fair prices and explained the exact problems and all of my choices.

I found Larry’s via Unilocal.I drove up and he couldnt scan my car that day, but made an appt. I dropped it off and he scanned my car, told me the catalytic converter was the reason for the light. Steve suggested resetting it and seeing if it came back on. The car had always run fine. The plan is if the light comes on quickly, then we might replace one of the converters. I know if I had taken it to the dealer, I would have been shelling out over a grand for two converters. which i may have to do eventually anyway, So we are taking the wait and see approach. For scanning the car, he charged me 27 bucks. Professional, courteous, and appears to be an honest mechanic shop. The sign on the office door said labor 85/​an hour, so i was expecting at least that much. Fan of Larrys, and thanks for another Unilocal referral.

I too trust Steve.
I added a hydrogen generator to my Toyota engine to improve gas mileage. Long story short, HHO generators don’t really work, and my check engine light came on during my inspection at Valvoline.
A friend suggested Larry’s, and I’m pleased she did. Steve took the time to listen to the crazy shit I had done to the car, and didn’t even mock me. They could have done anything to the car since Valvoline had scraped my inspection sticker off, but they didn’t. He did exactly what needed to be done and fixed my windshield wiper that had been bugging me for years.
Overall cost was $ 80. This include the passing inspection, new wiper blade, and dealing with the check engine light.
I always envied the people who said they had a «guy» to take there car too, now I feel like I have somebody I can trust.

I trust Steve.
Which is funny. Because the shop is called Larry’s. But really, it’s Steve’s. And one might think that would create some distrust right off the bat.
I have a Mazda. And it had a mystery. And nobody could figure it out. I am certain, *absolutely certain* that a lesser mechanic would have told me there was a problem with the transmission, stolen my thousand dollars, and sent me on my way.
In fact, when I described my problem to another mechanic (Albany Foreign Autos) they referred me to Steve directly.
Steve and his crew were tenacious. They looked and looked. Ultimately, it came down to an electrical short. Fixing it was inexpensive. Finding it was a bit more, but I have a good feeling the team spent much more time on this than I was ultimately billed.
Since then, the car has been virtually problem free. And now I take all my business to Larry’s. Plus Steve is a really nice guy. Really nice. And I am not inclined to gush.
I know bupkis about cars. But Steve takes the time to explain all the details, in a way that makes sense.
Plus he is working on setting up a wireless network in the waiting room of the shop. I think he has the router, and is just waiting to install it. But he might let you plug into his ethernet cord, if you ask nicely.

The crew at Larry’s Foreign Auto Service are true professionals. I’ve received the best car service at the best prices from these mechanics. Ever since I found this shop, it’s the only place I’ve taken my last two cars. Great work on Volvos and I know they also specialize in Mazdas, Hondas and cars by a few other foreign makers. I’ve never had to wait too long for work to be done on my car and with a bus stop across the street, I am able to drop my car off and take the bus to pick it up.
