A couple of years ago I enthusiastically entered my work in a number of their jurried shows. But the past year or so I have ceased to even consider it. At the beginning of each year they release a list of the themes they will be having for each month’s show, and I’m sorry, but those themes have just been super lame. Because of that, I’ve kind of gradually phased first friday out of my events calendar, and defintely gravitate more towards Troy Night Out and the Troy Art Scene. Sorry guys.

Nice place, nice «First Friday» openings, and sometimes nice art. But just nice. Art shouldn’t be this nice. I want art that punches me in the head, or makes me physically gag with its resonance. Even though I’ve bought a very sly picture from the gallery, and am impressed with the energy and earnestness of the group behind the gallery, overall I just can’t get excited about it.
